Well I guess that I will start this thread off in the similar fashion to a lot of the ones I have read through here during my "lurking" time.

I have been a long time lurker here on the journal with hopes and admirations of building myself the perfect shop. Well a few years(2015) ago I thought that dream was close to a reality when we bought a decent plot of land in Oklahoma(21.5 acres). At the time we only had enough money to build the house and I had to put the shop build on hold. Before I even had the chance to break ground on a building the company I work for made me an offer to relocate to Michigan that I could not refuse. Going into our move I knew that one thing that was a must when looking for our new Michigan home was that it had to have a shop! With my sometimes crazy and hectic work schedule and the all to common life hiccup I didn't want to chance having to put off building if the new house didn't have a shop. Great thing is......we found a place with two! One is 30 x 48 and the other is 24 x 30. Currently the smaller is filled with a few unpacked items(JUNK!) from our move as well as out boat. Now the larger of the two is kind of a weird setup as you will see from the pictures that will follow. It has 16ft side walls but the entire upstairs was used as a business in the past and is currently in more of the "man cave" configuration. About 30 x 30 of the lower level of the shop is actual work space. There is a small, what I call tool room on the back side of the shop that probably somewhere around 15 x 30 and in the front corner opposite of the work space is what the previous owner used as a workout room. It's probably around the same size as the tool room, maybe closer to 15 x 20 due to the stairs leading up stairs. Well enough of my banter and on to the pictures! (All of the exterior pictures are from the listing when we bought the place)

Here are a few pictures of the main workshop area(as well as some of my project). The floor coating is in pretty poor shape and I have been starting to look into what I want to redo it with. But I have plenty of time to figure that out.

I wish I had a enough height in the shop here for a lift, but overall I pretty happy with it. I'm thinking maybe in the future I will add a 16-20ft bay on the opposite end on the building that will house a lift.

I am planing on removing the wood work bench in the pics below and building a more mobile metal bench. I have been looking at a few of the modular designs you guys have come up with on here and hope to build something like that in the future.

Another cool thing about this shop is that it has center heat and A/C. I did however install a MrHeater in the shop area that way I didn't have to pay to heat the entire place when I spend the majority of my time downstairs. The thermostat is in the "man cave" area.

Very cool man ! Are you willing to divulge any specs on the notchback ? It looks really sweet...

Sure. Nothing crazy enough about it to keep secret. Right now its still kind of a basket case. When I picked the car up it had quite a bit of work already done to it. Unfortunately most of the work was pretty poor....... It had a roll cage and sub frame connectors but the welds were pretty bad on them and a lot of them incomplete. So as of right now I'm cutting all the previous work out making room for a new 25.3 cage. It has a decently built rear end and full team z tubular front k member and will end up being LS powered when finished, but that is still a ways out.

Looks great; where's the snow?

Haven't had much snow up here this year yet. Just a few light dustings, but these are older pictures of the place from the summer before we bought it.

We have been in this house since Feb of this year, but with how hectic things were at work since we first moved I hadn't had time to do much in the shop. I was, however, able to start acquiring some tools that I have been looking to pick up. Below you will see a few of those in the pics. I'm somewhat new to metal fabrication and know its going to be a steep learning curve, but I am really wanting to be able to say that I did most if not all of the work on my project car. Which I sure will mean me spending exponentially more that if I had it done.

I plan on building a small covered area on the back of the shop to house my compressor this spring sometime to help keep the noise level in the shop down.

Very nice! With a bender and a welder you can do a lot!

Wow, that is some great shop space! Nice notchback too! I have an 89 myself.

Thanks! I have had several Mustangs over the years but have always had to get rid of them for one reason or another, so this one is here to stay. Finally having the space is awesome! Now to get it setup to be as useful as possible. There are so many badass ideas on this forum its hard, better yet impossible to digest them all!
