It is "you're", as in "you" + "are". "Your" is possessive, like "Can I borrow YOUR bike?".

Next up: me bitching about people that say "I could care less".

I'd lose the whole package.

Yep - buy it for backup and completely forget where I stored it.

Concerning your opinion - I could care less.

I haven't lost any of them, but my grandson lost one. Well, actually, my grandson didn't exactly lose it, I wasn't home and he let one of his buddies borrow it. The guy he let use it lost it and then wouldn't buy us a new one. Needless to say my grandson doesn't have anything to do with the jerk anymore.

Re: If your constantly losing your 10mm socket . . . .

Here's my solution for that (note: I don't use metric so this refers to English).

In my case it's 1/2" and 9/16"; sockets and combination (open and box end) wrenches that the gremlins carry off.

My tools are common ordinary Craftsman. That's what I started with in the early 70's when my then wife gave me some for Christmas or birthday or something or other. At many swap meets there will be someone with Craftsman or SnapOn or miscellaneous brands of wrenches and sockets. Loose in boxes where you can buy one at a time. I keep an eye out for Craftsman stuff. I now have about a half dozen 1/2" and 9/16" sockets and wrenches. Over time I've collected more of the "nearby" sizes, too. You know, 7/16" and 5/8". I have several 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" ratchets also.

So, I don't know what brand of tools you have, but if you go to swap meets be on the lookout for additional sockets to match your brand.

If only it were that easy as just buying and forget. I lost a Allen socket years ago and I am still annoyed because it was part of a set. One day I'll find it, one day..

I heard this 10mm meme many times.

A: I'm never missing my 10mm
B: A count last week reveals over 25, 10mm sockets, in my possession.

I never got the joke on losing 10mm sockets. Been a mechanic going on 20 years and never lost one. Now a lost pocket screwdriver joke I could get.

Re: If your constantly losing your 10mm socket . . . .

My youngest got herself all growed up and moved out over 20 years ago, so I've learned to accept that it's me that loses stuff and can't blame the children.

When I die and someone cleans out my shop they will find all those missing tools way back under some shelf or bench where they rolled when I dropped them. Until then I'll just keep adding more tools.

bobcatdan; I respect you for being able to keep your stuff intact, but I just can't do it.

I recently bought a new Proto 1/2 drive 10mm shallow 6 pt socket for 50 cents. Will I ever use it? Doubtful.

Some ******* lost mine, then I bought a new one and after that suddenly the old one is laying in my tool box. Sometimes I hate myself.

Re: If your constantly losing your 10mm socket . . . .

I lost a Craftsman 6 point 10mm standard 3/8 socket last year. I think my Ford truck ate it, but it ate lots of things, mostly hoses, belts, expensive smog parts, etc., but it had 190K+ on it, so I cut it a lot of slack. Anyways, I went to the flea market looking for a replacement socket. I talked to a guy with a lot of tools on his tables, and I ask him if he has one. He says sure, I keep them separate, behind the table, because everyone needs one and sometimes people steal them off my table. I bought 2. Never did find the missing one. That one is the only socket I have ever lost. :wtf: :dunno:

Had to laugh. But, either some folks never learned the "rules" or they just don't care. Please correct any grammatical or spelling errors. Still laughing.

You must be the guy who sneaks into our shops and steals ours!:shocking:

And you sell the extras to the company who packages them and sells them as noted in post #1!:lol_hitti

The solution is to buy expensive sockets; that way you'll keep track of them.

P.S. Should I have used a semicolon or a comma?

I actually lose 7mm way more often than 10. I've resorted to raiding a local lawn shop that charges $.25 a socket for every 7mm I can scrounge whenever I get the chance to stop in.

Re: If your constantly losing your 10mm socket . . . .

Hahaha

I needed a 12pt 10mm to remove the pressure plate of a Honda I was fixing/flipping. I KNOW I had a few. I could NOT find one.

Went to the pawn shop, spent an hour digging through their loose socket bin (with my helper of course) and find a 1/2” drive 12pt 10mm....

Got back home with it, went to get something out of my 73 Lincoln, and in the trunk, were 2 of my 12pt 10mm’s and in my 72 dodge, was my snap on 12pt 10mm......

I have NO IDEA how they got there....

But now, I have 5 of them Hahahaha

I USED to peddle used tools at the local flea market. I learned the wisdom early on of segregating the 10mm sockets from the rest.

By far, my most requested size.

Mines gotta a lot of wear on it. How? Brake caliper bolts. Kinda go at them blind so I like having my stout 1/2" drive ratchet so I don't go cockeyed and round them off.

Here is the 10mm I found in my engine cradle after 2+ years when it came loose up top.

I have extra 10mm sockets, I keep finding them on cars I work on. Found a MAC 6pt in the battery tray of my fathers Tacoma not too long ago...

Now my 17mm deep, thats a different story. Constantly missing. I lost the one out of my Craftsman set years ago, finally broke down and bought a ProTo replacement. Found the C'man one within days of the new one arriving. The C'man is presently missing, again...

Maybe they care a little, but could care less, they just don't want to care any more than that little bit?
Always understood it to mean you don't care but if you put some effort into it you could manage to care even less, just not worth putting the effort in. I like the saying and don't get people's issue with it. There's just so much goofy ****, like this saying, that people get worked up over that I could care less about.

My little brother gave me this shirt for my birthday.

Like the shirt, only one I ever loose more is 15mm but I have extras of both sizes to carry me through till they turn up eventually.

I don’t lose 10mm sockets, but for some reason tape measures are the tool I lose the most. I have about 10 of them in my shop and still can’t find one sometimes. When that happens I search Untill I find them all, and put them in a big pile. It takes about a month or two before the search is on again! Chris

LMAO!!:bounce::bounce:

"Mary" Christmas everyone.....................

There was (is) a lady my mother worked with years ago whose name was Mary Christmas...

As for losing sockets, I try to keep one of those magnetic tool/bolt trays handy just for that reason. In 35 years, I still have my original Craftsman socket set complete. Granted, I’m not a daily wrencher, but I do use them.

I work in ship repair and their are a few common sizes you'll need on every job. It's easy to lose a socket or wrench on a Navy ship. They walk. They get borrowed and never return. They drop into some inaccessible spot. They fall in the bilge where you can plainly see them but don't know what is in that 'liquid', probably piss.

I have a stock pile of 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 3/4, and 15/16 wrenches. All Craftsman. All from the swap meet for a dollar or two each. Same for the sockets. Whole pile of crescent wrenches. They are cheap enough it isn't worth sweating it.
