There was (is) a lady my mother worked with years ago whose name was Mary Christmas... That's Too Funny..:lol_hitti

As for losing sockets, I try to keep one of those magnetic tool/bolt trays handy just for that reason. In 35 years, I still have my original Craftsman socket set complete. Granted, I’m not a daily wrencher, but I do use them.
This thread is *"to* funny!
AAMOF I did loose My Snap On 10 MM when It fell Into the engine bay of my Alero when I was doing the "break" (<-------another misnomer I hate)
lines on my car.
"To" Funny...........<<<<<<<<<<< My "Pet Peeve" when reading!
To hard too read, always have two read it "Twiced" <-------(WV Word for twice)........L0L

Merry Christmas to All!

You guys are "Grate" <---------- One of my super's always wrote that for "Great"...................L0L

Fun Thread!!!!!

EDIT..............

LMAO I actually taped a wrench to my Hand once, after dropping it about 3 times........

Oh, BTY, I try to Make it a Firm rule, No tools placed under the hood, while working on a car.
Has a Boss once, Bitching at me for walking "Too" feet to place my tools on a Cart every time I was done removing a fastener.
I said, "I don't set tools under A hood"
He bitched some more,
I said, "Yeah, that's why half of your tools end up out on Banksville Road."
They were too. always "sending tools out"

I use Craftsman USA sockets (G2 and G2D) and had a habit years ago of picking up extras whenever I’d stop at Sears. I’ve amassed quite the collection of 1/4” and 3/8” drive 10mm sockets. I still have yet to lose my originals and replace one, but if I do... I’m covered.

My dad carried a 84 Mercury Cougar in for a persistent EGR valve problem that he and his brother couldn’t figure out. They were old school, the limited computer on that car was above their pay grade. Dad came in bitching about spending $400 to get it fixed. He popped the hood and there laid a 13” long Matco screwdriver with an orange handle that now resides in my box. b9c4e1beefbf9ee79caabf3504b139ee.jpg

$16.80 a pop. If you lose one of these, it's gonna hurt. :D

Re: If your constantly losing your 10mm socket . . . .

It is "you're", as in "you" + "are". "Your" is possessive, like "Can I borrow YOUR bike?".

Next up: me bitching about people that say "I could care less".

It's possible. I could care less. :lol_hitti At least I read the grammar post.

I don't understand why all of a sudden there is so much attention to losing 10mm sockets? I also couldn't pick a Kardashigan out of a lineup and don't know why they're famous.

Didn't realize it was a thing but it is/was a common bicycle size so often walked off and I remember misplacing them a lot when working on the volvo. I suspect it has to do with being a more commonly used smaller size so easy to lose.

Technically people say or type "should of" instead of "should've"(sound identical).. Short for "should have".. Just sayin'

Figured is jump in too.

Now I am questioning if I regularly "should of"... I hope not.

I worked for a guy that said "If you have more than you need, you don't have any". I thought he was crazy, but I managed to prove he was right. I found some flashlights that were pretty nice for less than $10.00 each, so I bought several with the plan of putting one anywhere I might need one. One each for the shop, garage, car, truck, bedroom, house, camper, etc. Within 6 months, most of them had disappeared, and the few I could find had dead batteries.

A year ago I bought a really nice, small flashlight that cost around $70.00. I know where it is at all times, and always keep it charged.

Moral of the story, if you want to keep up with your 10mm socket, I'll sell you one for $100.00, and you will make sure you don't lose it. (or is it "loose it", while we are picking on the grammar nazis... ;-)

I've not lost a 10 mm socket, but I know the deal with tape measures.

And there's nothing wrong with getting your English correct. I don't like seeing incorrect word usage, especially too & to interchanged. I'm sure I'm guilty of incorrect usage occasionally, it's easy to get distracted and toss in a "your" instead of a "you're" and I know I often click "Submit Reply" without proof reading.

With auto correct when I'm texting, I sometimes take shortcuts and allow it to fix my deliberate errors, and I find myself relying on an auto correct that doesn't exist when typing on my computer!

P.S. I did proof read this!

You can get this at O'Reilly Auto parts.
https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...-socket-set/gm8465/6039493?q=socket+set&pos=2

Powertorque GM8465

I bought a set a few days ago primarily for that extra-extra-extra-extra-extra deep 10mm.

Chinesium, but for $17, I was happy.

I also noticed a very nice set of Taiwan-made shallow impact metric hex sockets nearby for $20 (couldn't find the listing on their website, so use your imagination). So as usual my $17 trip quickly turned into a $40 trip...

I heard snap on came out with a great program to prevent lost 10mm sockets.. they will begin charging $85 a replacement as “incentive” to make sure you dont lose any.

If we’re gonna discuss pet peeves for grammar or speech - my personal favorites are when people pronounce height as heigTH.. WROTH iron is another... there’s another one thats common that really bothers me.. can’t think of it now..

Edit - acrossT.. i cant stand when people say that.

I once found a size 19/32 1/2 inch drive socket in the trunk of my 65 Galaxie when I bought it (back in the mid 70s) I later found out that was the size socket I needed for the 428 rod cap nuts but couldn't find it when I needed it. I think I still have it.

Never heard wroth...

But technically heighth is not incorrect, it just fell out of favor. It was an real, accepted word for eons, used along with length and width. Dickens used it occasionally in written word. "Height" is a shortened version of "heighth"... its still used widely across north America... And almost never will you be corrected for using it orally.

And I doubt most would mis-pronounce the written "height" specifically, as "heighth"

It is not included in modern dictionaries though. If that's your final verdict on if a word is a word.

Just saying.

I have a tote somewhere with a bunch of those in between sockets and wrenches..32ths... 64ths They were much more common obviously way back before fasteners were totally standardized. Along with some whitworth and BS in the mix.

Maybe the iron was very angry...

(Debated on posting this - then decided I would defiantly post it. Or maybe that was definately post it...)

I think Autozone has a similar 10mm set.

I’ve bought Snapon 10 and 12mm sockets at least three times now. The sad part is that they were all lost in my own garage and I heard them fall each time.

Make the hunt for that 10MM socket worth Your time by letting Your Grand Kids hide the rest of the set.. "Grandpa, You are getting colder, now warmer"... Hint: Check their toy box; and then Your tool box.

I lost some tools in the shop. Couldn't find them. Then a thought came to mind so I asked my son who was 3? About tools and what he did with them. He pointed to a stack of tires. Yup, there were the tools. Guess he thought that was a good place. And of course, that was the only place I didn't look.

I found someone's missing 10mm today. Went to a flea market and bought a batch of sockets for $5. The one I was after was a napa 18mm impact socket, but there was a mixture of larger sae impact sockets and a little one that was all rusty. I figured "just another 3/8s" but I buffed it out and was surprised to see Proto 10mm.:rocker::3gears: the whole lot was a mixture of good stuff.

My brother in law gave me snap on 10mm that he found after he got his Subaru back from a mechanic. I still have it, but I can't find my 10mm from my go to set.

Solved the problem the old fashioned way. With money. When I sold TOPTUL I bought full boxes of 10 mm 1/4" and 3/8" standard and deep well sockets 20 in a box. Still have at least ten of each. WHY FIGHT IT?

My old BMW engine bay ate a couple of mine over the years, but the replacement for the original one eventually fell out onto the floor of the garage. Now it sits in a magnetic tray on the front of one of my tool cabinets and it is my "deep in there" socket that I don't mind donating to the void (or loaning it for a while - lol).
