Craftsman as (pick your time frame) it used to be for each of us.

Craftsman Professional line
(I did manage to finally get what I think are all of the 47 different screwdrivers)
I did buy some more gloves from sears.com a couple of weeks ago, thankfully

Craftsman USA made tools (so many to choose from back then)

Armstrong tools ( I bought some to add to Craftsman socket sets, then discovered how awesome the wrenches were)

Craftsman C3 line why in the world did they discontinue SO MANY of them?! UGH

I got these last year from the Wiha clearance web site. There are probably some out there somewhere

Yep that's one of the sets I was interested in, figured if they were all gone anyway might as well go for broke and get the 10 piece but I couldn't find either. Ill keep looking for those for sure they look great.

Long Snap-On hard handle 1/2 drive ratchet. They started making the flex head 3/8 and 1/4 hard handle, but as of yet no 1/2 drive sighting.

Gotta give props back to the journal for my victory. It was another thread that I stumbled into with my google search for the screwdrivers and the op of that post laid out the road map to find these :beer:

Wow, I have no idea how you found those, because I've been looking and looking and can't find them anywhere. I tried searching on the forum as you've said, searched for the model number, searched for the image, nothing I do brings up a site that still sells them. How did both of you find them independently?

Sadly, they are all here and there at the moment.

Here is an old picture of the Torx drivers, though:

Thanks for the link to the Wiha website guys. I called and they directed me to their other website where they list all of their discontinued tools. I bought a bunch of them tonight. The prices can’t be beat!

what website did they send you to?

Lol, why does all this Wiha screwdriver discussion seem so secretive??? Many post about them but not one link :lol_hitti

Even a couple screenshots with the web address cropped out :headscrat

Sunex 16" hose removal pliers. You can find 11" pliers all day long by a bunch of brands, but Sunex had a set of 16 inchers that are perfect for the really deep cab-forward designs. I have a set, but am worried that I'll break them one day and I'll never be able to buy a new set.

Concretors nippers for 6 bucks? That won’t last long now that it’s outed on here.

Nice Torx set!

I have only one of these drivers - the 1/4" bit driver. Though I did score a T30 Torx driver and am thinking what i want to mod it to because I like the handle.

For what it's worth, concreters nippers seem to be one of those items that's always going on sale on Amazon. If I had to guess, they're probably easy to manufacture and relatively low demand compared to combination or needle nose pliers. I see them from Knipex, Gedore, and Wiha for under $10 pretty often.

That said, I still ordered a pair of the 11" ones here to go with my new dynamic handle screwdrivers! Had to make as much use of the flat rate shipping as possible.

Thank you, both! I don't feel so dumb now. I was searching the Wiha website from Google, and every time I clicked the "Dynamic Handle Screwdriver" links from Google, it took me to this page:

Screen Shot 2019-01-08 at 10.52.56 AM.jpg

Of course, it never occurred to me that going to the Wiha homepage and then searching from there may give different results. It also doesn't help that if you browse to the Screwdriver category of wihatools.com, it doesn't list them anywhere, but if you specifically search for them, a few of them show up in the results, but not all of them.

I had also searched Google for "Wiha tools outlet" and wihatoolsoutlet.com doesn't show up anywhere in the 9 pages of search results!

The only other place I found those screwdrivers was on carbideprocessors.com, but they're almost 3x the price.

Anyway, I ordered some and am excited to try them out. Thanks!

To get the thread back on track, I really wish Hazet still made the 600 style wrenches. They currently make the 600N series wrenches which have a different design that doesn't look as comfortable to me, and I have an incomplete set of the 600 series that I can't seem to fill in.

I'll also tag on and say that I wish Craftsman still made nice made-in-USA stuff, such as the red/black handled screwdrivers already mentioned, the same handled pry bars, and Western Forge made pliers. You can still get the pliers from SK, but they're more expensive than the Craftsman versions, and I like the non-slip black dipped handles on the Craftsman versions better than the slick green dipped handles on the SK versions.

Channellock made a 7" tongue in grove plier that was the perfect size for working in electrical junction boxes.
Their current offerings at 6 1/2" are sightly too small and the 8" is too big to fit in to the space.

Craftsman professional screwdrivers. The Red handled Western Forge ones. So expensive on ebay.

S-K still sells the identical drivers with green handles if you aren’t picky about the color. I had to go that route after the tip of my #1 stubby Phillips broke off.

Screw the eBay vultures.

VBW and Stahlwille have their “Fastgrip” in that size and Knipex have a 7” Cobra. Both are far beyond what Channellock has ever offered in both design and build quality. Yes, they also cost more but not unreasonably so. IMO Fastgrip is better at that size.

Do you have the number for that plier? I could keep an eye out next time I'm digging thru a bin of pliers at the pawn shop.

Porter Cable 324 Mag circular saw. In my opinion the best saw ever built. Im not alone for a while they were bringing $200 used on Ebay. I've got two that are in working order and another that was dropped from a roof keeping it around for parts. I've also got a small stock of brushes and bearings I managed to find online. Hope I can keep them running until I'm ready to call it quits.

The crazy part is I didnt find out about these saws until they were already discontinued. A sub I was working with on a job had one and I fell in love with it. I managed to buy one new old stock from a hardware store in Pikeville, KY and picked another up at a pawn shop in Louisville, KY. The third one (that's been dropped) I pulled out of a construction dumpster across the street from a house I was working on in London, KY. I watched it slide off the roof and later watched the guy throw it in the dumpster.

There was a Snap-on branded cord reel where the light part detached from the reel, so you could use it as a drop light, or take the light off and have a single locking plug. Conversely, you could use the light to turn any extension cord into a drop light. It was 30', 14AWG, mostly metal construction, and sold for ~$65 at Costco and Pep Boys. Really a nice multipurpose cord reel for an average home owner.

I bought one in ~2009, and then I wanted a 2nd one and found out they were discontinued in ~2012. Now used ones sell for $100+ on eBay because people assume that they must have been expensive because they're Snap-on branded, when really they were only $65 new and sold at Pep Boys.

S3B1000129-4.jpg

I have one of those lights but I did not know it can be unplugged, I know there is a plug on the light that allows you to plug in something else. But I am not sure how to remove the light itself. I guess off to Google I go. Thanks for mentioning it :)

I wish the following were still around:

Facom 3/8 drive palm control ratchet: Just a neat ratchet unlike that telescoping, non serviceable piece of **** pear head ratchet they sell now.

that's it for now,

The 161B series are serviceable and made in Italy. In fact, the master repair kit ($25-30 value) was basically free in 2018 with the purchase of the ratchet.

The Facom and USAG ratchets are identical ....made in USAG's factory. USAG is approx 20% cheaper than the Facom one. See https://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?products_id=8515

My babies finally showed up 🤘 figured since they are discontinued i may as well go crazy, **** for 76.96 for everything I got why not. The nippers are really nice they feel very strong and there surprising smooth right out of the box, and the micro finish screw drivers have an awesome handle texture nice an smooth but with a very grippy texture, these will be great for sweaty greasy hands which is pretty much always hahah. I’m a happy camper for sure
