Restoring my ferris wheel seat

Don, I totally forgot this thread. :-(

It was nice re-read it and look at the transformation to it's present stage.

I am looking forward to seeing it completed.

Of course now I want to do one, I just don't have the skill you have.

The project got put on the back burner the last part of last year as I was building my wife a country store in the party garage.

It is back on top of my projects list and I spent some time working on it last week

I stripped the foot step and straightened it up ready for primer

It should be going to the trim shop for the seat next week.

perhaps I missed it, but are you going to add the markings back on to the back and sides of the seat?

I plan to do something with bright colors but not the original markings.

I'm going to build the seat and side panels today so it will be ready for the trim shop.
I also need to build the stand for it to sit on.

I started out cutting the wood for the framework of the interior for the upholstery shop
Next I mounted the chrome hardware onto the seat.

with the seat together I was able to mock up the seat and get the height to build the swing framework.

Harbor Freight has the clamps as well. $6.99 for an 8 piece set. They call them "**** Welding Clamps" on their site. I have several and they work well.

The seat went to the trim shop on thursday and a big neon sign got dropped into my lap so I'm derailed from building the swing frame until I get this sign reconditioned and hung in the garage

Will there be any more detail paint work on the white? It looks great as is but I recall you mentioned using turquoise early in this thread. Any paint flourishes, gold or silver leaf, pin striping? In my mind I'm thinking of some of the stuff on Main Street in Disneyland with the turn of the (last) century motif.

Yes I have a few ideas for my artist buddy to add to the chair like 5cents a ride in gold leaf and some kind of wings to go on the step back plate and some different colored ribbon lines on the sides

The barber shop has 2 of those type of chairs one is small for kids to sit in
and the other has the barber sitting in it waiting for a customer.

I spent the day out in the shop working on a couple of projects
. The main focus is on the ferris wheel seat. I finished building both sides of the seat stand today and got it the booth for primer tonight

It made it to the party garage today and will hold down a spot in front of the Ice cream parlor.

It still needs some gold leaf numbers and some pinstriping before I will consider it finished

And maybe a dummy to sit in it
