Congratulations John! Ignore today's temperature -- it's not normal. It has been in the 50s the last couple of nights down here in South Florida but it will be getting to the mid-70s the rest of the week, with lows in the mid-60s. Cold for us but way too hot for lots of folks up north.
Toolfool,
Congratulations on your new adventure and move. You can sell all your machinery but you will always have the talent you have shown us all in your shop thread and in your contributions to the forum. We all look forward to updates as you head diagonally across the country.

Thanks Don. I may be doing the I-5 to LA then I-10 across route. If I do, I'll try to visit.

Thanks Jay. It was the cold and wet that finally got to me.
I feel your pain TF. I've lived here my whole life but it gets harder every winter for me. John and Jay, the Florida Panhandle will solve most of your 'cold' problem but you won't believe how much 'wet' is waiting for you. Average annual rainfall:
On the bright side, Florida's 'dry' season is in the winter. Even when we got 10.25 inches in one week last month, it was in the low 70s. And you read that right, half [or a quarter) of the rain you get in a year fell on us in a week. The rain does provide extra privacy -- cars driving by in the street 40 feet from my window can't see my house in a typical Florida thunderstorm.
- Whitbey Island - 20 inches
- Seattle - 37.5 inches
- Tallahassee - 61 inches

Jay, Florida was a swamp that people started draining in 1565. It's a work in progress so we get local flooding in neighborhoods that have drainage problems but the ground is mostly sand and coral so the floods usually disappear quickly. This humidity thing you speak of -- it rarely goes over 100%.Bob, yikes! That's a lot in a short time! Is the ground able to handle all that or is there flooding during that? Also don't forget your other moisture....humidity
Jay
John, I hope you noticed some of the drivers slowed down to the speed limit when the rain was at its worst. We call the others defenseless drivers. Had you stopped at a gas station you would have heard some local complaining about the humidity. RainX is your friend down here.Bob, I drove my car to Tallahassee from Feb 27th to March 3rd. That Sunday evening of the 3rd, I drove IN THAT STORM from Mobile all the way to Tallahassee. Emergency notices were constantly cutting into the radio broadcast advising to get off the roads, get under cover. I kept driving. Next day I told Shorty that might have been a sign that I shouldn't be moving to Tallahassee. Shorty said, " Aw, that was just the welcoming committee."

You posted that in June when temps were in low 90's. I'm looking forward to 98 degrees tomorrow.
