That is the back of my truck!

These had been sitting on CL for five days before I called, as I was sick as a dog all week and had plenty of work to do. But it was still there! And it was in the middle of Smokeshadow and Rileysan's area (I had even sent the listing to Riley.) So I called yesterday, but he said the first he could meet me was today at 5 pm. So, braving rain, traffic and lack of coffee, I made the hour trip. Here is the Craigslist photo

He said it was his father-in-law's and was happy it was out of his garage. $100 for both, the Proto 9990 and a Pressweld roller, with the bottom panel. I will put more pics in the appropriate threads tomorrow once I unload them

I had two good sales today. First one was slim on tools, but I got some Porsche accessories that should make me some good money. The air compressor kit ran me $10 and one sold on Ebay last week for $179! The car bra is for a 1995 911. looks like it's never been used and it even came with an invoice from 1998 when they guy bought it from the dealer. One in similar condition sold last week for $169 and mine cost me $25. Looks like I should come out ahead wth a nice chunk of tool money. :) The Wiha driver set was $3 and I think I'll keep it.

The second sale was nice as well. I picked up an 18MM Snap-on wrench, a 7/16" Snap-on wrench with "1990 Nada Convention" stamped on the back instead of a part number, an 8 piece S-K miniature SAE wrench set, a Bonney 5/8"& 11/16" double box end, 3 Snap-on picks, 13MM Snap-on crow's foot, 17MM Snap-on crow's foot, and a Snap-on QJR217C 3/8" drive torque wrench. I paid $40 for everything here.

The torque wrench is awesome. Based on the size of it, I thought it would be a 1/4, but it's a 3/8" and measures in inch pounds. The head on it is way smaller than any other torque wrench I have. It's even smaller than any of the 1/4" ones I have. It'll be nice to have a low profile torque wrench that can get into small spaces. Here's a photo of it next to a 1/4" Tekton torque wrench for comparison.

I found this little Craftsman 1/4 drive set at a local swap meet last weekend. From a little research, I found this set in the 1960 catalog. Paid $20, I thought it was fair for a nice complete set and the ratchet feels great and works perfectly.

I have this same torque wrench, I love the fact that it is a 3/8" drive in a 1/4" body. Perfect for low torque applications. Nice find!

Today was the first flohmarkt/ flea market of the year. I've been impatiently waiting since November. It was packed before the official opening time despite the 22 F temperature. I was surprised to find a few good deals and even left some Hazet tools that I should have grabbed but didn't need. I got most of the items from one table. Everything was in excellent condition compared to normal around here:

18 Euros / $21 for the lot
Hazet 20mm combination wrench
Stahlwille 10 x 11mm DOE
2 Matador Mercedes Benz 17 x 19 wrenches. One is W Germany. The two wrenches are slightly different is size and finish.
Heyco BMW pliers
Nail pullers, old but solid <G> brand that I need to research
10mm VBW hole punch
The blue belt punch says made in W Germany so pre 1989, no other markings. Very solid

The drill press stand was my favorite item. Wabeco Germany. This thing is solid and fairly heavy. Way better than the plastic ones they sell at the big box stores here. I don't have room or that much need for a full drill press so I couldn't pass it up for the price.

The next flea market in the area isn't until March 9th. Hopefully it is as good as this week.

BlueBolt - That is the terminal that connects (a long time ago) the drop wire to the inside house wiring. The drop is the line from the pole to the house. It has a specific number, but it was out of date when I was a phone tech and I never learned it.

I have one of those in my basement for the telephone connection. It's been there forever...my house is 106 years old, so who knows how old the terminal is.

Got up way too early for an estate sale yesterday because there were a couple of planes and possibly an early aluminum B&D workmate. The workmate turned out to be a stamped steel one which I already have two. The planes like most of it were overpriced. I did pick up a nice small True Temper "Perfect" hammer and another Red Devil Jak Nife scraper though.

Didn't plan on hitting any today but out my study window this morning I could see the neighbor across the street having some kind of sale. Picked up some nails, casters, and some instruments. Not real sure how they were used or by who - Alnor velometer jr, Davis anemometer and a Gardner paint thickness gauge? Any practical applications where people would still use these today and if so how? I spent $12 total between the two sales.

I found this little Craftsman 1/4 drive set at a local swap meet last weekend. From a little research, I found this set in the 1960 catalog. Paid $20, I thought it was fair for a nice complete set and the ratchet feels great and works perfectly.

What the other guys have said, that is an old style protector made by Western electric for one phone line coming in. There are fuses behind the 2 large screws.

Good question. Any ideas what time frame this might be? I am guessing after WWII and maybe up to early 1960's.
Companion was swapped out for Dunlap about '39, and then came back in mid-late 50s (IIRC later date). So should give you a not older than date if you find when companion started showing back up in catalogs. Wouldnt be pre wwii as it was all be/circle h, not =v=.

I hate to break my own arm patting myself on the back, but in this case, I am prepared for the pain, the cast, the sling... and a friggin' hospital bed and traction, if it comes down to it... :lol_hitti

...because I had a score this morning. :pimpflash

Had to drive 1.5 hours into the teeth of the snowstorm to get it this morning, then I raced it home!

What you are looking at is a total of twenty (20) WWII electrical kits. Ten (10) of them are Williams 1285P's, and ten (10) of them are Williams 1285P knockoffs assembled by Randolph Tool Equipment Corporation (R.T.E.C.) with pieces from various mfgrs, including Plomb, Walden, Wilde and who knows who else. All of them are re-packs. Most of them are NOS, as far as I can tell so far. All of the pieces are caked in cosmo. Some of them have wax paper over that.

I will be posting more in the Williams and R.T.E.C. threads, with links to those threads posted here and 4.c's 'Show me your 1/4-inch drive sets' later this week.

Got to post close ups!

Went out to look at buying a new car... Came back with other stuff [emoji28]

>Two more hinged metal archive boxes

> A brand new heat gun from a charity shop who bought it to clean paint off one table and never used it again!

> A old "mill bin" made from cardboard and leather. Cool "manufactured by" label!

All in £30 well spent [emoji1]

You guys are killing it!

Yesterday seems to have broken the drought for me! Not many sales, but the quality made up for quantity! 3 planned stops, Two TOO's that were dead. one planned stop was a revisit to yesterdays stop...

the second stop was the big one Estate sale of an old school mechanic and drag racer (flathead v8's! they had pics up!).

The guy gave me a gallon baggie as I was picking. It didn't hold nearly all of it... lots of SO, and quite a few clamps, but I get ahead...

The clamps, since I'm there (and they were on top of the bag...) the two way and the small one near them are aluminum. one Phoenix that I need to straighten.

attachment.php

Getting into the wrenches: 11 SO wrenches, two ratchet adapters, needlenose, and 1/4" driver, Craftsman Pro stubby wrenches, a couple of indestro, the extension is a wright, PEXTO pipe wrench, Channel lock dykes, the double adjustable is Diamond, and is 4 X 6 in instead of 8 X 10 that my others are. :bounce: A couple of Proto and a Vulcan,

attachment.php

Some odds and ends: the scale is an old 1950's Redding powder scale for reloading, needs a major cleanup!... a mini miter, (will fit my 7" tilting TS) a teeter totter linkage fro an aircraft (May have seen use in the dragster?), a SO 1/4" box and a much older breaker, the other box is unmarked but may have been Sears/craftsman? not sure all were stamped... two Proto ratchets and one at east needs cleaned inside. the fitting are one way valves.

attachment.php

the can of DNA is near 1/2 full, the impacts set is MAC, missing the 3/4, adn two sockets have been turned down to get access clearance, but the 1/2 is a dupe...

attachment.php

All that for $65, plus I made a second "did I miss anything" pass adn speny $4 more so $69.

The repeat stop at yesterdays stop got another wood box full of stuff. I was particularly looking for any more of the Peugeot wrenches, and generally digging deeper.... some nice finds!

An Aluminum Clamp, Brass Plumb bob, another seam setter, more larger spikes, the multi wrench is a Truth, a brass coat hook, Armstrong, Williams (mini), Yamaha wrenches, Utica pliers, A Wusthof fillet knife, some small T" bar steel, and brass hex.

attachment.php

The Wood Cheese box, a second Rimac tool (More pics later), Sockets are Craftsman, Proto P&C, and SK, the crows feet are Plvmb! another brass hex, a Mahew punch, Stilletto Upholstery puller, the smallest scratch awl I've ever seen, a magnet in a wood handle (this will be handy for searching screws...), an drawer pull, and a huge tapered pin.

attachment.php

Ten bucks all.

The Rimac's from both days: one is also marked made in USA. SAME handles so Now I say its factory, but still no clue what they are for...

Thanks Guys!

Error correction on the "truth" multi-wrench: its a Truman & Co. :dunno:

Yeah, when I saw the double ender Diamond, my hand moved REAL FAST to ****** it!

On the Rimacs: Mine are steel and fairly rigid. mot spring steel I don't think. My thought ids windshield installation? That ball on the handle makes for a real good push/pull, grip.

WAY too many what's this for?(s) the past two days!

Double ended adjustable spanners?
Can't say I've ever seen one in the UK.

What's the theory behind them?

Just to give more range in a single tool. the smaller ones don't have the capacity or leverage for larger fasteners, and the larger have too big a head size for the smaller fasteners for good clearance.

Ahhhhh... thought that might be the case. Although I'd imagine they'd be a ****** to use in confined spaces, especially if working on a small nut with that big adjustable head flailing about.

Interesting though cheers Outlaw

I agree. They aren’t a very practical tool. They have a following though and the ones that I have had sold rather quickly.

Nice haul. I really like Bishop of Barcalo. He got the day off. Would Deacon of Dunlap ever stick? What about Troubador of Thorsen or Thorsen Troubador III ? Lol. You need one for Powrkraft too, Don.

Pontiff of Powrkraft?

I’m thinking that the Crapper of Craftsman might be more appropriate. These are estate sales finds that I’ve used to help fund the tools I actually collect.

Yeah. Every so often I gather enough to make up sets and list them. As soon as I get a little ahead in my PayPal I waste it on something like these tools from AA.
