I’ll take the Prentiss. Was browsing Facebook and saw these two adds coming up always from me up in Ohio if anyone is looking to buy a 7” at a fair price or an 8” at a hefty one. Just thought I’d throw em up for your amusement

Amen! Me and you both!I need to quit looking at this thread. You folks are a very bad influence.
No more looking at vises, I already have Vices...
Wrenchguy if you need a swivel pin I could make a spare since I need one.

Nice vise. two model numbers the same yet a different base setup. Messes up the Spreadsheet. Three awesome Parker vises and all heavy. Wrenchguy if you need a swivel pin I could make a spare since I need one.
That’s an impressive collection. In honor of all the Baby Prentiss talk, I will show mine...
I have to post more pictures of that York 80. I'm just stunned how clean the thing is! Looks like someone barely used it.

Looks great! How did this "Czech immigrant" find its way to your house (eBay?or some other way?)?
zoomie:
I knew you had more than a few, but that shot of all of them together blows me away!
Honza:
That indeed looks to be a very low mileage York 80. Nice score! Is postage and customs a problem with buying stuff from foreign countries?

Thanks. It’s an interesting piece of history, I was lucky to find it.zoomie:

How do you PM another member ?

I clicked on a C/L ad for a four foot vise.
Here’s the pic. Looks like somebody can’t spell.

Anyone got a guess on the size of this thing? I'm not going any higher on the bid unless you guys can convince me it's an 8"er...…...
Looks like a 6” to me.

If anyone is up in the NYC area you should check out this deal on a Reed Rseries vise for $40

I think it's a 6" also. I have a Wilton 600 and proportionally it looks similar. The 800's look really long no matter what era they were from.
Here is a pic I saved of Smitty's (hope he doesn't mind). I saved it because I thought it was a good pic to show differences in scale of large Wilton vises. The 2nd vise is an 800 and the one furthest away in the pic is a 600. The 800's have a long tail behind the flat surface (I refuse to call it an "anvil" lol).

Oranized to go see a HB Smith 1A today. It was advertized for $45. I was the first caller, and met the seller at 2pm. First he tells me that online selling is b.s. and that "about 6 people" said they were coming this morning but didn't show. I thought "Wait, didn't you tell me - the first caller - to see you this afternoon?" Next he said as I was driving the 35minutes to his place someone had emailed him an offer for $75.
I looked at it and told him to take it. It was missing the front jaw, the front pipe jaw and the back jaw had a chunk out of the corner. The jaws are like mini Parker jaws so not trivial to make.
Shift, was the $75 guy you? I know you have one and had a few bits missing.
