Had to find a third hand as I'm short and could not see the rails while holding the drawer. Then loaded some tools, I will not know how to act being able to see the sockets, ratchets and extensions below eye level. Really looking forward to using this box, once I learn where everything will be located.

Homark IMHO should adjust price to add second set of rails on 54".

So my brother has a metal brake, so thinking about getting some sheet metal and building a cap for the box and adding light and shelf for cordless chargers. We will see how that goes once I measure the length of his brake.

Some of the Napa's have them; as scratch and dent at a significant discount. You can't be picky about the color though. The Napa near me has a Blue, a Black, and another color scratch and dent.

Mark me down as a recent purchaser of the same 72" blue box several have. It took three tries for NAPA to get one in without damage. If anyone is around Indianapolis, the Greenwood store likely still has a scratch and dent model on the floor. Unsure of price.

Hey Andy, love the power strip solution, I'm ready to tackle the same. Were you able to mount it with any hardware included with the strip? What color blue paint did you use? I have the Pantone color code from Homak as they don't offer touch up paint. What hardware and brackets did you use if they weren't included with the strip? Thanks!

I got your PM but figured I would reply here on the thread. Post #203 shows the mounting and post #207 has the link to Amazon where I got the power strip from. The C channel was bought in 2' length from Home Depot and paint is just a Rustoleum spray I think Gloss Deep Blue was the color. I will have to get you details tomorrow on everything and I'll post a few more pictures that will show some of the steps a little better on the assembly. Its not prefect and I may redo the mount at some point because of personal OCD but it is sturdy for plugging in and removal, I can't tell of any flex or anything.

Wow Amazon is showing over $900 for that power strip. It is nice, but not nine hundred dollars nice.

Wow I just went into my Amazon account orders and back tracked from there and it came up $950. Thats ridiculous. I paid around $120 for it. Anyways if you find one similar or the pricing on that one comes down here’s the parts I used and you can reference the pics below. There are two of these brackets to hold the strip onto the box.

-36” long x 2” wide x .5” leg .125” thick c channel from home depot. Cut to about 12-16” length, cant remember and cant move the box by myself to get you an exact measurement. You gotta layout and drill the holes. Leave enough c channel below the rivnut to spread the load of pushing a plug into the outlet down the back of the box a little ways. And you have to notch it to clear the sheetmetal fold at the top of the box.
-M8 bolts and washers to thread into the factory rivnuts in the back of the box. Use the bolt from your handle to gauge your length. I think the smaller bolts were M6.
-rutoleum deep blue gloss spray paint and gloss clear. Pulled the end caps off the power strip and masked the stainless front face.
-scrap rubber to protect main box from the c channel. Didnt want to drill into or damage the main box in any way. Wanted to be able to pull off all my mods if I need to someday and not have any permanent damage to the box.
-double sided tape. I had 3M stuff laying around. Used it to hold the rubber in till it was clamped in place and laid a run the whole length of the power strip on the bottom to the stainless top.

Thanks for sharing information on how you completed yours, I'm actually looking for a 54" one.

Has everybody that purchased the Homak box had to order it? I am interested in their 54" combo but it seems like no NAPA store ANYWHERE has ANY Homak boxes of any size in stock to "look at and feel" before I'd go ahead and order.

I just would really love to see one before I spend a bunch of money ordering one.

The Napa near me has a Homak box (if they didn't sell it today); It might be a size smaller than what you're looking for though; I didn't pay a ton of attention to it. I could check tomorrow to see if it's the size you're looking for and provide pics if it's still there?

BTW: If it is still there, what pics are you looking for specifically?

I ordered mine without seeing one, based on this thread pretty much.

I'm still very happy working out of it, and think its a little nicer than most of the other boxes in the price range. Closest contender is the Masterforce box, but you had to pay extra for a work top if I recall.

Thanks for the info, Andy. I'm working through an order with Bench Pro, to be finished in "dark blue," which appears to be a closer match to the OEM Homak color - maybe I can avoid the rattlecan! I'll know more in a week or two when it arrives. I'm also having two outlets exchanged for dual USB ports.

If you're in Western PA you might want to drive to Summit Racing in Akron, OH. They also sell them and show some in stock.

Would moving one of the extra sets of rails from the smaller bottom deep-drawer work on the top full-width drawer? I've been thinking of trying that instead of ordering another set of rails...

That's not a bad idea....maybe I'll play with that tomorrow. I don't see why it wouldn't, all drawers are 24" deep ya?

Thinking about ordering a pair of the 72" Competition Orange boxes. Looks like a better box for the $ than HF.

FYI - Just tried it and it works like a champ. Pulled 2 top slides off of smaller bottom drawer and installed them on the top drawer.

Thanks for the info! I didn't get around to it today unfortunately. Did you take them off the smaller drawer? That holds all my blow molded cases and it probabaly isn't that heavy (Digital caliper, serp belt tool etc) so I think that's what I'm going to do. The other holds all my Milwaukee tools, but that's also not that heavy but given its size It could certainly hold more tools

Talked to the Napa guy today. He said Homak builds these to order, so there aren't any in stock anywhere. It will take about a month to get 'em built, and another week to ship. Think I'm going to pull the trigger.

EDIT: Bought 'em today - $3534 with tax and delivery. Hope it doesn't take forever for them to get here.
