Saw an ad on CL for a bunch of NIB Snap-On stuff. From the picture, it looked like a Snap-On student starter kit. This is the second seller I've seen in the past month that have the absolute identical tools for sale. FX80, T72, 24 piece deep and shallow 3/8 sockets, 13 piece 1/2 inch shallow sockets, screwdriver set, 10 piece wrench set, etc. What does it mean when you ask the seller if the tools are metric or SAE and the response is "Wha?, I dunno". He tells me to meet him at a gas station at a certain intersection. I have a heck of a time finding it as there are literally three of them with the same cross streets in the same area in my Thomas Guide. Calling him on his cell phone to clarify was hit and miss. He tells me he has an errand to run but he'll meet me there. I finally start heading down the right street, I pass two patrol cars, lights flashing and 3 dudes cooling on the curb. I get to the gas station and sit there waiting in the lot. I try calling every few minutes and the response on his phone is different each time. Sometimes it rings a lot, sometime a little, sometimes the call goes straight to voicemail. After about 20 minutes, I begin to lose hope and figure someone else is already buying the tools and he's going to blow me off. Finally one last call and he picks up. He tells me their car was just impounded. Somehow he intuitively knows that I must know where he is because I must have seen the hubbub when I passed by. Then he says, "Come get me". Now I'm trying to think fast…rough part of town, three dudes, their car impounded, me with cash…what to do. He is about 10-15 blocks away and I say "Sure". I am about a third of the way there (took me a bit to clear the back seats, and turn around and get going in the right direction) and he calls again to see if I am coming. One last chance to back out. I get there and one dude is driving his car up onto to the tow truck. I am relieved that only my guy gets in the car. We go to his place and I check out what he has. All new sealed packages of wrenches and sockets. The ratchets were in a bag with some sparkplug sockets so they suffered a ding or two. He has the original invoice so he is comparing what I'm offering to what he paid and of course he's not happy. For some reason they invoice the 8 piece screwdriver set for $170. I know that the website has them at $134. I make various offers for the sockets, ratchets, wrenches and screwdrivers but he only accepts $140 for the screwdrivers and the FX80. This is my first Dual 80 and it is NICE. And I just picked up a tip from another thread on how to disable the locking flex feature, push the button to the side.
