But on other products, they've repeatedly changed manufacture location, and even product design, without changing product pages or even updating the product photo (for years!). And in the case of the prybars, manufacture location had not changed. Point is there's no rhyme or reason to when they randomly decide to abandon the original product page and make a duplicate with a false date on it, and they often haven't done a new page when they should have. :dunno:

Exactly!

It’s a dead give away it’s China made with the red on the handles. Looks just like all the current pliers lineup.

The CF color scheme is confusing to me. If we are talking about the little red + (mostly) black handles = made in China, this snap ring plier with the same color scheme is US made (I am 99% sure. I have it, but I am not going to dig thru my tool box to confirm tonight).

Seems like the current made in China pliers has more red in the handles, like this set:

B_Bimmer, shipping price is not too bad when I put stuff in the cart and stop one click short of buying.

My local Sears closed, too. It's $9 in gas money and 40 minutes one way to the closest HomeTown store.

Unless I drive an hour to the "local" Sears big store, online is it for me.

I had points running out today, so I ordered the 1/4" and 3/8" ratchet / socket sets in plastic cases, plus a lighted inspection mirror.

Shipping was $5.98 (slowest / cheapest) with no driving. Thank you, sears.com.

Slowest / cheapest for me has worked out very well. I ordered the C3 1/2" impact wrench set, it got here two days later. An order on March 1st got here on the 6th (incluing weekend).

It is all working out great for me.

Some bbq accessories on sale. Some prices match online some don't, like the wireless thermometer.

For the next few weeks I will be getting about $35 in points each week. I am running out of things to buy from Sears. Either I already have it or it's no longer available. What suggestions do you all have for items that are $35 or less?

Do you have access to Sears and/or Kmart store? When Kmart near me was still open, I have bought household items like paper towels, shampoo, coffee, snacks, socks, tshirts, sandals, shoes, toys, underwear for the kid, etc. Nothing fancy but those helps our monthly expenses.

Unfortunately there are no Kmart or Sears stores close to me. There is a Hometown store about 30 minutes away. The nearest Kmart is 3-4 hours away now. The nearest Sears corporate store is about an hour away.

Do you have the circuit breaker finder and the extra-wide pliers yet? :)

The recently-discussed indexing prybars set is in that range lately too, if you didn't already grab it.

Sears Family & Friends event starting 3/17, but it's hard to look forward to these events with the selection of tools still missing so many authorized suppliers.

I will like to add that I was given a $5 Off coupon because I waited linger than 5 minutes for my order to be retrieved.

The lady who got the items was not wearing a uniform. Had definitely been smoking before she came out to scan my phone, after I had already scanned it on the kiosk, and was rather flustered at having someone at the pick up area.

I don't understand how Sears is still operating.
HATE employees like that!!
My sears Customer service at Pick Up, however has been great!

This was my first ever interaction with their pick up service. Hopefully the next one, if ever, is better.

Some locations are better-managed/staffed than others. The people at mine have been pretty good; I've done a lot of order pickups, and just a few times there's been technical difficulties, not the employees' fault. If they're late on pickups more than a very small percent of the time, they get in big trouble, so if that person makes a habit of it at your store, they might not still be employed there by the next time you go.

The Portage, MI, Sears and Marshall, MI, Kmart stores are run well. I have placed hundreds of orders over the years for store pick-up and am on a first name basis with many of the employees there. Only a few times have they been slow to bring out my orders (no big deal, I've worked retail before for a decade and walked in their shoes). I swear I am keeping the lights on there! :D

I know it's not $6.97, but Sears Hometown has the magnetic tool panel for $10.88. I suspect it may drop with the friends & family event coming up as it had been $9.79 on another sale when I first stumbled across it. I don't know if I'd recommend waiting however. Free shipping is $49+

http://www.searshometownstores.com/...ftsman-12X12-Magnetic-Tool-Organization-Panel

Be aware, their website is far worse than Sears.com and finding filler items was nearly impossible for me unless you can do pick up at a nearby HT store. My order still shows as processing (when I can even get the website to show the status) but it was delivered today. No shipping notice or anything. Shopyourway.com does show the order as well but limited details. I was able to use points and get 5% off with my Sears card. It has been a real pain, but a good price for these and I wanted a few more.

P.S. make sure your credit card info is entered correctly. If not, it may take days before they notify you and cancel the order, and then you'll have to wait days for a SYWR points refund which never happens so then you call SYWR to gets points refunded and waste an hour or two with overseas customer service. Don't ask how I know! On the plus side, they credited me my points and then I think I got the original refund, so I have an extra $11 in points to spend.

I worked at the Portage store for about two years in 2013-15, we've probably met before! The store manager has changed twice now in the past few months, and I'm worried the store will really go downhill if they don't have somebody with some experience to step in.

I was there a couple weeks ago and the tools employee was wearing jeans and a hoodie (and maybe even a hat). He asked some other customers if they needed help and they were very confused that he was an employee. I'm sure they're having a hard time getting warm bodies to fill positions with the current state of the company.

I've been using my points to buy 50:1 TRUFUEL cans at my local hometown store. A can will run you ~$7ea. Sometimes they run a buy one can get a second can at half off.

How are you using your points at Hometown stores?

They accept points. They just don't accept any point promotions or offers. I've stocked up on all NOS USA made items there. The store doesn't get the same cut as they normally would, but Sears corporate supposedly gives still them a kickback.

A local GJ! The Portage Sears is actually fairly decent when it comes to matching online prices, warranty issues etc. Hopefully they stay open a while longer.

I bought the Wilde version of the ignition pliers from HD last fall. It was discussed here comparing the tools (Craftsman USA and Wilde)

It’s a dead give away it’s China made with the red on the handles. Looks just like all the current pliers lineup.

I checked out the restocked Craftsman ignition pliers in person at my store tonight... they are indeed now made in China. Makes me feel better about jumping on the US Wilde one on Amazon a few months ago instead of waiting to be able to spend Sears points on this version.

The US version of the Craftsman extra-wide-capacity pliers (on the opposite end of the size spectrum from the tiny ignition pliers) unfortunately disappeared years before... the equivalent SK-brand US-made product is ~$75 now, so that's not happening... I decided to finally give in and get the China version while I have almost enough points, a rare occurrence these days as the games points come in slower... of course my points have to start expiring tonight instead of being able to wait till the sale in a few days. Will have to try for a price adjustment later.

not sure if this has been posted yet, but i'm putting together a to go kit for my daily and wanted a cheap socket set to put in it and stumbled across it.

Craftsman 25 pc. Socket Wrench Set $16.99

i mainly like it because it has both 1/4 and 3/8 as well as sae/metric, but i think it might be a better deal to get the two 11pc socket sets that have been on sale for $9.99 each because at least then you get an extra ratchet, plus they arent listed as hot buys whereas the 25pc is so no coupons. we'll have to see what the prices look like in a day or two with F&F

Thanks. I'm also looking for a small, back-up socket set. My concern with that particular set is that it has only 12 point sockets. I'm partial to 6 point sockets due to concerns about rounding out bolts. I have a $16 Shop Your Way credit that expires this Sunday (March 17), so I might buy the $9.99 eleven piece socket set you referenced.

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-10-...SellerId=Sears&prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3

Unfortunately, my local Sears only has the metric set, ie not the SAE set :(

Thoughts anyone?

Valid on items marked sold by Sears and/or Marketplace except where indicated. Excludes DeWalt, NewAge, Clearance, Great Price, Hot Buy, Smart Buy, and Unilateral Pricing Policy items. No in-store price matching allowed. "

Bought a heavy duty 4 drawer for extra storage.
$163 with tax after points and freecash.
Will pickup later.

Model #113613?

I grabbed one myself a couple weeks back. Was surprised by the positive reviews once I got it home - if this is what Sears calls "heavy duty", I'd be afraid to see what passes for "standard" duty.

After sale/coupon/points, I paid $112.** (and picked up $101.** in points), so I can't really complain. For light use, it'll be fine. That said, I've got the bottom/middle/top set, and am thinking about throwing it up on craigslist to see if I can get $300 out of it and go grab one of the 26" x 22" US General cabinets at Harbor Freight.

My local Sears has weekly ads, but for some strange reason Sears says there are no local ads within 100 miles. I tried three different browsers and cleaned cache. No luck.

Either Milwaukee tools are coming to Sears, or the website staff just doesn't care anymore. :wtf:

Did you mean to say "there are no local stores within 100 miles"?

Is it a regular Sears store, or a Sears Hometown store?

If it's a regular Sears, it may be scheduled for liquidation. Or the store manager halted online order pickups until they fix some problem.

If you really meant to say "ads", then you need to understand that the Sears website isn't that reliable. If something does not work on the desktop site, then you can try the mobile site or app.

Think it is same otherwise.

Just got it and seems pretty decent.

I have a local Sears store (not Hometown), I could walk to it in 36 mins according to Google maps. There are two more stores within a 20 minutes drive and a Sears Outlet store even less than a 20 minutes drive. I don't expect that to last but currently none of the three stores are slated to close from what I can find in my internet searches.
However the Sears system is so screwed up compared to say Amazon both in software and skinware that I don't see how it can last. Perhaps it is as some say here that the staff "just don't care anymore" and all the problems are skinware and that the software is working perfectly that is "garbage in : garbage out". I've picked up an item from one of the stores that I ordered on line and a full 29 days later it still showed ready for pick up.
My closest store seems to have people that really care and try to find my orders, but more than 50% of the time after I get the email that my items are ready for pickup, we end up scouring the aisles for what I've ordered because it was never set aside when it came in, just put out on the floor. In order to keep me happy when the six magnetic tool holders couldn't be found even though I received the email saying they were in, we found 3 of them out on the floor and I "returned" the phantom 3 to get a refund, because either there is no way to indicate in the system that there are 3 missing or it's so cumbersome a process that the employees just do a work around that will now put bad data into the system. That is, it will show that there are 3 at the store which don't exist.
I expect at least one of my local stores if not 2 or 3 to be on the next list of closings. This kind of nonsense can't endure in the market place much longer. The competition is just too competent and also fighting to survive in a changing retail world.

Now just to stay a little more on topic: I received my made in Taiwan Craftsman adjustable pry bars and the finish was fairly scratched up because the two smaller ones came out of their recess cardboard cut outs and all bounced around together. I'm not too concerned about the finish on pry bars although to be honest the smallest one doesn't look like it could really be useful for anything except a show piece. I also received the made in China with USA supplied cutting blades Craftsman Edge Utility cutter that uses regular utility knife blades. I ordered it in late January and I didn't think it was going to show up. Apparently the China boat arrived. It seems like it may be a useful tool even though fit and finish has more of a HF look than a Craftsman look to it.

Also, the Craftsman Duck Canvas Jacket worked well for warmth during a recent 2 week visit to Chicago, although I still have doubts about the longevity of the zipper, so far it's worked flawlessly.

Thanks. I ordered a mini-ratchet set today. It is supposed to be in March 6. After points it cost me $13 OOP.

The local store had two mini-ratchet versions available during the holidays, but I made the mistake of waiting on some points before buying one. Both ended up sold out, and the store has not restocked either one since then.

Here's the version without the sockets, but the current price is considerably higher than the $12-13 deals for the GearWench MicroDriver set:

Craftsman CM 31PC SET RATCHETING $21.99

Not in-stock anywhere around me, but free ship-to-store available.

prod_20384856312

I got over to the store and picked it up today. It is cool, but it is tiny. The entire set fits in a box which is smaller than my phone.

i dont know if you guys are finding much to use your points on, but i feel like im scraping the bottom of the barrel right now. aside from those 2 socket sets for $9/ea and some evolv screwdrivers, this is the only new item that i havent seen discussed on here yet:

Dickies Large Wrench & Tool Organizer Roll $11.69

i think its a good price for the size compared to the other wrench rolls on the site. i just picked up a smaller one to put in the 22" truck box (which i think is a great value for $8.99) for my HHR and this larger one should organize all the stuff in my 67 mustang very well as right now theyre just tossed in one of the 13" bags (of course now i'll have to swap it out for the 18" that came with it).

im kinda disappointed with this F&F--several of the items in my wish list arent even as low as what they were on the last midnight madness sale. not to mention the chat reps not wanting to price protect a $10 drop on an item because i used a $10/100 and the new price would put it below $100 so "that coupon wouldn't be valid now"

ahh well...hope you guys are having better luck. though i guess i cant complain too much--still not OOP of any of the above today

It still feels like the end to me. My hometown guy was saying the rumor mill on their end is new contract negotiations are just beginning with the restructured company, so perhaps patience will eventually yield some results.
