Tunar, I've always been a fan of semi or fully dedicated boxes/sets for specific jobs/locations! Probably the best use of a lift out tray I've seen!

Sorry to hear that. I haven't injured myself yet, but I often catch myself almost biting off more than I can chew with regards to lifting things without help.
The transmission is 150lbs (Tr6060). I'm only 26, and probably 5-6 years ago I was bench pressing 350lbs, dead lifting 410, and squatting 225 (shoulder doesn't like squats). It's sad. I used to be REALLY strong. But ever since I moved out, got engaged, etc etc etc, I haven't gone to the gym. So my form is way out of whack, and my strength is all but gone. Basically, 150lbs shouldn't have been anything for me, and used to not be. I frequently forget that I'm not the strong kid I used to be, and forget that sometimes it's okay to ask for help. I've had a bad back for years, I just finally abused to too much in the wrong direction and something popped. I hope others learn from my mistakes and don't try to do everything themselves like I do. My dad wasn't thrilled when he heard what happened, because he's been yelling at me for years to ask for help. One day maybe I will.
Hope your feeling better, back pain is no fun at all !
Thanks, it's definitely not!
Hope all is well!

Steve
Should be better in a few weeks, thanks.
There went the money saved by DIY on that job! I paid out on an exhaust job once by getting rust in my eye.
It was $50 for the er visit. The clutch job would definitely be more than that. I just need to be a little smarter in the furtue.

Sorry to hear that. I just assumed you were one of GJ's resident geezers and had no business trying to lift a trans by yourself in the first place.:lol_hitti

Getting the new pegboards finished up. Still need to cleanup the walls and reorganize the paint shelf, dont love the electrical strip next to the solvents.

I hang around the resident geezers because you guys are way cooler than those of my age. Lots of knowledge on this board!
Wait till you hit 35 all of that **** starts to catch up with you.

I wish you a speedy recovery. Please be careful.

I had a capacitor go out on my Bendpak two post lift last week.

Now I heard that Bendpak is outrageous on there parts prices.
I called figured maybe $25 plus some shipping..........omg $104 plus $17 shipping, I told the guy "you guys sure know how to take care of your good customers"
well I didn't order it..........same capacitor on ebay $9.95 with free shipping.

I'm a big Bendpak supporter, I've had two Bendpak two post lifts over the last 15 years and have had no problems.......thank god, but this was just way over the top.

Jeez! That'll learn ya to burn up a clutch.

Seriously, back issues ****. Feel better, rest up and take it easy on yourself. Back injuries often feel better before they actiually are.

Semi-annual seasonal change over week end. Lawn mower out from cover and ready, motorcycle out from under cover and ready, convertible out from under cover and dow off the lift, some with the gas grille, edge, power washer and deck furniture. The plow equipped ATV is the only (mostly) winter only item that goes on the lift in summer so the truck moves outside and the rest is one big game of tetris.

Two words: Physical Therapy. What got you strong years ago WON'T help it heal that's a different process; PT first THEN back strengthening work. Hope its not too bad and heals quickly.

26! wait until you have the BIG 60 hanging over you like an Anvil over Wile E. Harry

Oh I was tempted!!!!

But this truck will be built as close to stock as possible, with mods to improve drivability and reliability. When it is done, it is going to my friends son Dakota. Dakota is 13 right now, so I have some time. He lost his dad in a horrific car accident, and his mom had to sell their classic vehicles to pay bills. So this truck will be built in honor of his father, be reliable so as to not leave him stranded, and 4x4 for the snowy winters they have where he lives in Indiana. If he wishes to lift it, mod it, hot rod it, he can do it.

Ok, off my soap box haha
You Da Man! Way to Step Way Up!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Back window stopped rolling up on my Tahoe. Opened up the door and found the motor is eating itself, plastic falling off when rolling down and crunching noises. Time to order a whole new motor and regulator.

And I would love a 749 4fn27!

Chasing what I thought was a coil/ spark issue on the oc3. It turned out to be a radiator leak that was soaking the coil with fan blow by. I’m a bit surprised the coil is so sensitive to moisture.

Cleaned up and repainted the dynamic and static jaws of my new-to-me Dawn vice... seems that my Evaporust has finally stopped working after quite a lengthy run, need to go get some more to help clean up the jaws.

Decided the giant Lista wasn't working out and sent it on it's way. Then I cleaned out the aisles I'd filled with **** as the giant Lista was making the garage that much smaller.

Of course when I got it, it was full so I then had to rehome all the bits and bobs from the cabinet.

Garage feels like a light and airy hoarder hell now!

That 70's Ford truck in the background sure looks nice.

We resident geezers can remember (vaguely) when we were young studs who would simply muscle the transmission into place. But with age comes wisdom (hopefully) so now we use a jack.

I can't say I miss laying in the gravel driveway under a car trying to bench press one of those old heavy cast iron 4 speeds into place. When it slid into place and you were able to get the first bolt started it felt so good.

Now I have a lift, a trans jack and a T5 that weighs about 70 lbs and I complain about having to bend over to set the arms on the lift. :lol_hitti

Went through 2 tool boxes I got from a friend and separated the 2 boxes into US tools and non US tools.

Also took the opportunity to upgrade some of my tools from Chinese Craftsman to USA made Craftsman =V= -v^- -VV- and some G....

Our bodies age, the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak.

I had a "four-eye" '82 GT w/the 302 & a Mexican-built, cast iron 4-speed SROD ******, and a 7.9" rear. One day, driving down I-95 in southeast Florida, I exited to shun-pike a traffic jam. When I downshifted on the exit ramp, "Bang!" and no-more forward motion. Fortunately, there was room to pull-over out of traffic, and a quick glance underneath showed the driveshaft hanging at the back. The pinion gear shaft snapped in-two flush with the front of the pumpkin.

I bought a wrecked '88 GT for the 8.8" positraction rear end and the T-5, and the engine. I swapped the rear end and the T-5 into the '82 and got it back on the road. I did that in the dirt in the backyard, using sheets of plywood on the ground to have a solid surface to work off of with the jackstands and the floor jack. It seemed like the SROD was twice the weight of the T-5! What a pleasure to shift the T-5 on the car, after that pig iron SROD. That was almost 30 years-ago, I'm collecting full SS now. My working conditions are much-better now, but I wouldn't want to try that level of effort, under those conditions anymore.

I remember buying and removing a Pinto 1600 engine, BY HAND (and back - no engine hoist or anything. it was parked on the street...) The only help i got was to have a guy shove a couple of 2X4's under it as it cleared the top of the fenders. (This was the same Kent 1600 used in the old Formula Fords; cast iron but just about bullet proof)

Last weekend this "old Geezer" changed the clutch in the DD Samurai almost entirely by myself laying flat on my back. The rig was on 2 6X6 ramps in the driveway (which makes most any car almost level in my driveway) arms and front of my shoulders felt it the next day, but its done.

I stopped using creepers for this type of work and now use a plastic sheet salvaged from a treadmill, one side is dead smooth and I can slide in that easier that roll a creeper and have more room...

I would LOVE to have a large shop with a lift and all that...

Today I replaced the steering knuckle bell seals in the same rig, finally. (yep same ramps same plastic sheet) It took a long time to find the right seals and then even longer to make time to do the one hour job...

This should fix the incipient "death wobble" that had been creeping up on occasion. (There is a reason the FSM says to replace these seals periodically. I think > 200K qualifies)

Pulled the WRX out, put the zero turn behind it, put away tools I took to WV to fix some plumbing and drywall on Saturday, then stained 5 pieces of trim that I need to finish out my pantry project.

Laid out tools to take to pick up a new-to-me 59 year old car and drive it 1700 miles home.43c13f560b3a2203c41c42e1d427250c.jpgd0db468f52945c28cc2635273df59552.jpg8eb084bf6ac06498a0388c7642af6548.jpg0bceaf60ad36f86824dd864a6581f10d.jpg

Thought today was gonna be simple haha

Lid switch crapped out halfway during a load of laundry. Got it to “work” to finish the load.

Now it’s JB Welded and clamped...

Also took the opportunity to clean areas that normally don’t get cleaned easily.

Last year it was the plastic “dogs” that stopped it from agitating. Now the lid switch...

I’m still not gonna complain though. The set was free, and I’ve had them approaching 10 years, and they were a few years old when I got them... It could be WAY worse....
