There was an auction, too, but I didn’t stay to find out how much a ChasParker and Wilton fetched. Nor a nice rake & hoe rack, nor a sectional bookcase. Nor a Bridgeport hatchet in belt pouch.
I missed including a Bonney 1/4drive rat in earlier post.

Three garage sales this morning all opening at 8am. Missed a bunch of great stuff at number 3 because I got there last just 10 mins before 8am! Nice Snap-on Rethreading Set & cooling system tester. A cool set of Blue Point hex keys, Snap-on Triangular handle Phillips and a really rusty DOE Wrench. Almost missed the Bonney 11pc Metric DOE Wrench Set on the way out. A good day at the garage sales!

Also forgotten in earlier picks, a ball pein hammer head. I don't recognize what remains of the logo. Anyone?

Something shnell on the hammer LS. - Nothing mapped in my hammers inventory... :dunno: (EDIT I post too slow...)

Only thing open was the HS Flea, and that was only about 20-25% of the usual seller count!

I didn't do bad considering; First stop was also my last where I got the ratchet strap ends as I was leaving for $2

Actual first buy was the Jack (for my Tent Trailer and leveling), A two strap leather Carry strap with a luggage handle, Dremel bits box, Heyco and SO drivers, and a DOE with a Curved "X" on it. I can't remember the brand for that - Bridgeport? :headscrat. Five bucks all

The SK was free as the guy didn't have change for a buck? :pimpflash
Someone ground s notch in the middle of the tip. I may clean that up as I do make those routinely...

attachment.php

Back row in the middle this guy had some good stuff - The Impact sockets were a buck for all of them! :shocking: Back row Apex, middle row Cornwell, front row Proto and the SO swivel, also the None Better/New Britain extension.

Same guy: a new in box digital scale -300 Gr. capacity, Angle gauge, Micro Mag light, Brass Disks, and some Philippines Mahogany veneer strips. $3 all!

Went to a barn sale advertised as "lots of tools", today was first day I got there 15 min after starting. There were lots of garage supplies- hardware, extension cords, lighting, chemicals, and garden tools. Not much in the way of other tools.

Still managed to find this stuff for $8.

R to L

15' of Campbell chain sign hanging chain

2 pack Hanson red marking crayon

Moose light switch cover plate

3 pair Amerock E3068 vtg cabinet door hinges, chrome

2 swivel key holder (what is the proper term for these?) both marked Bronze Italy

Craftsman USA 1/4 spinner

Last, what appears to be a partial Craftsman wrench rack for DBE or DOE wrenches. The seller didn't know they had it, it was in a cubby above the work bench hidden by other stuff and screwed to wall. Didn't these have a top and say Craftsman? I'm thinking heritage logo.

Nice finds gents. Zip for me this weekend due to work. Dave: The wrench rack is complete sans the Heritage logo at the top. You can see the faint outline in the paint fade.

Thanks for the ID help on the hammer logo, guys.
Outlaw, I think the curved X logo on your wrench is Duro. More like two mirror-image Ds linking together in a circle.

I always like how you go about picking Outlaw. Almost always getting things that'll come in handy sooner or later. I'd have absolutely no use for the brass tags but there's no way I'd pass them up. Sooner or later... :)

PS Great minds think alike!

Been out in Germany all week manning a trade show stand, my feet are aching so not planning any flea markets this weekend.
Just a quick trip to the local council tip with attached charity shop for me this morning then back to the sofa.

Found a nice long handle Roebuck ball pien in the £1 bucket.
Handle/head is rock solid so a quick sand and stain and ready for the rack.

It seems very rare around here to come across hammers with maker marks. I should probably be thankful for that or otherwise I'd have a hammer collection. :shocking:

That V&B mark is very cool!

Jake’s Flea Market opened today, after a day and night of rain. Field was soggy, but produced a few gems for $11.

So LesserSon - is Jake's Flea worth the 1hr 20 minute run from my area on an average Saturday/Sunday?

Anyway - I went to the local Restore Store today and found a (NIB) ONQ-Legrand impedence matching volume control for $4.00 and a package of 8 x 3/8-16 Adjustable feet for $2.00.

Cheers

Yeah, it’s a stylized DC in a circle used on wartime Duro Chrome and Indestro tools. Sometimes it’s referred to as Circle X.

Well, I wouldn’t recommend driving an hour and a half for what I saw today. Yesterday’s rain had a dampening effect on seller turnout.
Generally, Saturdays don’t seem as productive as Sundays. I’d expect better tomorrow, but I have a commitment that will keep me away (my very last swim parent banquet EVER).
Holiday weekends are three to four times better than average weekends. Jake’s is open 7am-1pm, and starts dying around noon.
Blue Ridge Flea Market near Saylorsburg PA also opened this weekend, and may be a shorter drive? I try to get there two or three times a summer, but I don’t have my finger on its pulse enough to know its best days.
I hope to stop in Quakertown Farmers & Flea Market tomorrow, and will file a report.

Raining again here, so...

Lots of great scores going on! But 3bay.. Wow, I've never seen one of the staple/nail pullers from Barcalo, the set of rivets is cool, and I've never seen a Ford hammer?

It will probably come as no surprise that I have some Barcalo tack pullers sitting around.:)

Thx TX, and yep, for me it's watching good god tools, good projects, good materials/parts for projects, old camp or stereo gear, and the unusual. Never can tell what might catch my eye.

Don I probably have a half dozen or so tack pullers in different styles, but they all have handles, and none are Barcalo. :dunno:

one sale today - an old auto repair shop a few miles up the road.
although ad stated it was sat-sun, sellers opened on fri. it was pretty well picked. still...:
-vintage allen model 27-73 armature tester. a bit rough but working condition - $3
-mac model ft-158 double flaring tool - $4
-2x 8' copper ground rods - $5
-2x dayco belt measuring tools - $10
-mechanic's version of "we reserve the right to refuse service..." sign - $3

everything was covered with a layer of oily dust. it took >2hrs to clean it up.

had to pass on the large (size t or k) cylinder of r-12 (for $10) b/c it wouldn't fit in the wife's mazda.

amateur radio test for part of morning (passed) was followed by rain-out conditions, so that was it.

Today just didn't stop for the finds!
And I saved the best for last.......

This came from Craigslist.

14 pc. Husky T-handle hex key set

Misc. hex keys in cheapo steel socket box

Cornwell SR701 long 1/2 ratchet in black oxide (unused but has a few spots of surface rust.) I've never seen an industrial finish Cornwell rat before, it isn't a satin finish at all. Rich and glossy black.

$30

Finally made it out this weekend. First estate sale had high prices on things they put prices on. Unpriced bundles were much better. Picked up a Disston coping saw and wood level, Eico multimeter, International Harvester 1/2" extension, torque wrench and battery pliers, P&C 12" adjustable wrench, Proto pliers, fence pliers, early ratchet made in Chicago, small square, Super saw handle and some misc wire for $20.

Next stop was a coffee can of 10 pliers. Had originally picked out 4 including the Plomb, but took them all when they only wanted $6 for the lot.

Last stop was a building salvage yard. Found 5 DOE Craftsman wrenches, sockets from Proto, Napa, and Craftsman, quarter inch Thorsen driver, US made ignition wrench, a few bags of 3/8 and 7/16 nuts and bolts, nearly full box of deck screws, and about 12 feet of wire for a dryer all for $15.622dff40626b5684f00e10445167a788.jpg8f5547a8118e56c96a7b8b2c94f13188.jpg2c7f02c5c1bb90941d4fa52cc761c0cd.jpg6d9b3f465309c575fa86e91558f174d1.jpg0b8df0daec607f2b5ecf37200aec7b70.jpg

Went to one estate sale today, got there at 8:50 with my little 4 yr old daughter and they had been open for 30 mins I was told even though it was to open at 9am. So off me and little one go in the garage, it was hardware Gaylord! Hardware as far as the eye could see! Counted 20 of those metal box with plastic drawers in there, custom made wood drawers stands, a wall of drawers full of hardware's!!! Just hardware's everywhere!!

I did find a green box and thought that looks like SK, opened it to find a full box of SK! I haven't inventoried it yet but there's a lot of them and it's SK Wayne stuff. There was Craftsman sockets and a 1/4" ratchet mixed so I pulled them out for the pics. Then I found the dovetail jig and so I grabbed it, the porter Cable they were asking $10 so I thought ok. SK sockets costed me $25, not a bad deal cause I collect them. So off to the other rooms and i found the Craftsman jig and the lamp and asked the guy in there what he wanted for them and goes $3 for both? I said sold! Then I found the gulf coast lighter fluid half full for another $1. So I just gave the guy $40 for all of it. I might go back in the morning for half off day and see what I can snag as there was a complete thorsten socket set wifh a full set of Craftsman deep socket V in the box, he was asking for $100 for the thorsten set which I thought was way too high but I'll see about making a deal Tomorrow if it's still there.

Along with digging in the hardware collection the guy had.:wtf:

I picked this lamp up, thinking it was cool, but I don't know anything about it and Google search isn't coming up with much for me. It seems like it's missing something how the base is shaped though. Anyone have any ideas? For a $1 I thought it was cool enough for a desk lamp at least.

I attended the second day of an estate sale in town today. I missed the first day, but there was still some useful stuff left.

My first Penens items, three combo wrenches in 11/16, 5/8, and 9/16. A Long-C DOE 1/2x9/16. Channellocks that I loaned back to the sellers to unhook hoses from a washing machine. P&C combos in 13/16 and 3/4. Finally a Geometric C Craftsman angle screwdriver.

Not shown is a Solo backpack sprayer in perfect condition.

$7.50 total.

I made my first good tool haul of the year this morning. We stumbled on a yard sale with an older gentleman selling his tools. I have never bought this much Plomb tools at one sale!
They are hard to find here in Arkansas. The small 1/4 set is New Britain.

I attended the local flea market today during set-up time. I'll be going back tomorrow morning when more sellers will be there. I found a few items today.

Photo 1:
Stamped 1-1/16x1-1/8 DOE
Proto 6" adjustable
Craftsman Western Forge screwdriver
Craftsman Crown reference table/ruler
Craftsman spring-loaded needle nose pliers
Snap-On 3/8 punch on the bottom

Photo 2:
Plomb USA 15/16 combo
Plomb LA 1" combo
681B S-wrench 3/4x13/16. Forged-in "681" on the other side.
tinners hammer marked "300"
Fairmount ball pein hammer

This is my first S-wrench. I wonder who made it?

Mr.X identified the marking on the S-wrench pictured in post #2159 just above. The logo is an arrow in a diamond piercing D and E. It stands for Diamond Edge, a trademark of the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, MO.

My research had determined that Herbrand had made a S-wrench this size that was identified as 681B, so I assume that Herbrand supplied this wrench under contract to Shapleigh. I am guessing it was made in 1928 or not long after.

Well, sorry joco but that heritage logo wrench rack I picked up yesterday has been cut down. I saved this pic from ebay, rack is 8" tall the one I have is only 6.5". Part of the slots are cut off for the smallest wrench. Craftsman logo gone. Oh well, that $30 Cornwell rat later in the day made me forget all about it. Lol...that and the fact the rack was free with the other items
