sounds like fun, what are you picking up?
I did that in 2002
Seriously. Don't leave us hanging. Needs pics of the car :D
A 1960 Chevy Impala 2-door hardtop, in Iowa. Pics look good, I'll see it in person this week to confirm condition. If its everything it appears to be, I'll sign the papers and start driving it back to Boston. I'll chronicle the trip on my garage thread.fe53367971bff2935410fee64f26ce08.jpg

Figured finally not sick anymore after driving home last week from work 8 hrs north.....

-Did the spring maintenance on my GF’s truck. Get it done and out of the way.
-cleaned up the mess.

Now to head over to my folks with tape measure and cordless drill, saw too. Time to tackle strengthening up their huge deck as well tighten up the gaps on the deck boards, build railing all around then enclose up the rafters, hope the pigeons fk off this year.

BlueBomber - Nice find! I have a great uncle who has a 60 just like that but a 4 door, no post between the front and rear doors! He bought it new and shows it all around. Factory 327, kind of a mint green - beautiful car.

I had a 61 BelAir barn find - 235 straight six, oil bath air cleaner, 2 speed powerglide, baby blue, 60k original miles.

Good luck on your trip - safe travels!

I couldn’t leave well enough alone.... Before I unclamped the lid switch to see if the JB Weld held, I decided to tear down the washer even more.....

This is at least 8 years use by me, and it was already a few years old when I got it.

So far, ~$5 for the “dogs” and $20 for a spanner wrench to get the tub out... $25 over 8 years is not bad at ALL!!!

My friends kinda pissed me off last night as I was tearing it down and fixing the lid switch, by telling me to just buy a new washer...

Even if I DID buy the lid switch at $40, that brings the total to $65 over 8 years... STILL not bad....

I injured my back picking up my transmission, and have spent the last 5hrs in the er getting x ray and now mri work done. Stay safe friends.

I replaced the clutch in my Dakota recently and got real lucky when it rolled off the jack and crashed down next to my arm instead of on top of it. The bottom of the T-56 is not flat at all and the chain I had over it slipped off the forked tab on the other side. I have heard of people dead lifting it up and locating the splines and slidin it in without a jack. No way, not this guy. It was enough of a pain with a fully adjustable jack. Not sure if I'll do it again or pay to have it swapped out. That sucked! Hope your back heals.

Last weekend this "old Geezer" changed the clutch in the DD Samurai almost entirely by myself laying flat on my back. The rig was on 2 6X6 ramps in the driveway (which makes most any car almost level in my driveway) arms and front of my shoulders felt it the next day, but its done.

I stopped using creepers for this type of work and now use a plastic sheet salvaged from a treadmill, one side is dead smooth and I can slide in that easier that roll a creeper and have more room...

Thanks for the creeper idea! I have a treadmill that is about to go on the curb. I wanted to buy one of those zero clearance creepers but they are expensive.

Do your friends buy new cars instead of replacing the bad ignition switch? Buy a new toilet when the old one won't flush? Must be nice to be rich. :Toilet:

You’d be surprised...

I did buy a car from one of my friends that wouldn’t start. Ended up being a fuse...

Can’t blame that friend though. He works a LOT, so for him replacement is time/money better spent...

If you strip it, the motor and the MC-60 or MC-30 speed control card for it are worth saving. (great conversion for a variable speed Drill Press)

One I did had a huge aluminum frame that I got like 60-80 bucks for at the scrap yard..

Finished framing walls on the west side of the shop, got some Outlets installed, and put up some temporary lights...e7148c631ba8289e3d60ed1baeeae024.jpg

Nephew towed over his 1997 VW Golf Trek. Crank but no start.
Did the basics ... spark, fuel and compression. Checked the crank and distributor sensors... all good. Injectors getting power, fuel pump relay and pump working ... then I decided to check if injectors are getting fuel.

What came out looked like lemonade. Let it sit, and the water could be seen settling out. Drained and flush tank and fuel system, added new gas and it started right up.

Finally got the craftsman box put where I wanted it. Starting to organize other areas while doing this clutch job. Haven't had much time to work on it with my work schedule and my back being a bit jacked, but if I can put 20 minutes in, I'll put 20 minutes in. Very happy with how this home shop is turning out. Can't wait to add a lift. 20190409_063533.jpeg

After work yesterday I mowed my lawn for the third time of the season in preparation for tomorrow's looming snow storm.:wtf:

Then went into the shop and commenced cleaning the rocker boxes so I can start reassembly of my son's Duramax injectors and finish that job up.

Today I went to Harbor Freight and bought a compact pneumatic right angle drill and a set of left-hand drill bits. Then I came home and used them to drill out and remove a broken exhaust manifold stud in my car.

Started the move into new tool chest.

So far nothing but good things to say on the US General series 2

Also will see how the socket boss rails stand up to time but they seem slick

Ugh. Walked in and looked at everything I need to get rid of. But the city trash disposal won't take it all at once so I have to mete it out a bit a week.

Changed the oil, oil filter and air filter on our 2010 Chrysler Town and Country.
Then I spent a half hour pulling the glove box apart looking for the Cabin Air Filter only to find out it doesn't have one

Finally mounted my vise. My 13 yo and I used it to build up some 80% lowers.

Organized the pegboard some, was able to hang a DeWalt Quick Charger.

Stopped by a local convenience store going out of business, picked up this acrylic? Shelf that fits pegboard for 10$

Don't really have anything lite enough at the moment, but the hooks it came with work pretty good to hang the charger.

Sandblasted and "restored" sway bar bushing brackets. Gotta love rust!

This is Dupli Color bronze wheel paint and Automotivetouchup.com clear coat. Works fantastic to be honest.

That blue really pops. Sweet looking box for sure. I'd get the blue or orange which I think they have now?

So, a local rental place was selling off a bunch of old and broken outdoors equipment. I'll have to take a picture at some point. But it was comprised of about 6 grass trimmers, 2 demo saws, 4 or 5 chain saws, a jack hammer, a small water pump, a hedge trimmer and numerous misc. parts. None in working order. All gas powered. But got the lot for $100. I figure if I can get 2 going, I'll make my money back. If nothing else, I'll get some experience. Now all I need is a place to keep all this stuff and the other half from finding out about it. LOL

There went the “hide in plain sight” aspect.

Finally took my rough sketch for a media console/record holder/computer case out to the garage and started cutting up parts for the carcass. Walnut veneered mdf cut to rough length/width and 5/4 walnut dimensioned, with rabbets and miters all ready for assembly.
