Technically didn't get anything done in the shop last night but had the doors open with the stereo on while I trimmed and mowed my lawns. Then blew off all of my OPE before putting away and had to restring my line trimmer so my son could borrow it tonight to go do his yard. It's just a great feeling to finally have everything done in the yard to the point where I can enjoy it and enjoy my shop.

Last evening I cut larger glued up wood into smaller glued up wood. Progress on a new camping lantern/fuel/stove/pantry box for short or overnight trips.

Finally got my summer tires back on to the car, also did an oil change, as I leave for work in just over a week and who knows when I am back....one week or one month.

Also installed the Lokar dipstick into my bronco, drill is at the folks so it didn’t get screwed to the firewall.

Now it’s time to go see the in laws.

That was my intent was to make it look nice for the Easter BBQ. We've had so much rain here lately that no time to mow left the lawn rather long which took twice and long to mow. Mine looked great after mowing and dispersing the few clumps of cut grass but then I ran the aerator over it and now it has all of those unsightly plugs littering the long so it won't look as nice for Easter as I had hoped.:wtf:

Cut a hole in the ceiling. Raising a couple trusses so i can get a mid rise scissor lift. I'm bracing it up. I'm laminating the truss either side with ply and replacing the 3 middle trusses with 2x8 joined at the top.40c07bd064c84ff074ba9b11c4a455ff.jpgdac7373790a1c2248711e48c1fdab3ba.jpg9eaf91618922718b571dea8992b20d99.jpg

Picked up the '60 Impala in Iowa, drove it 1600 miles back to Boston, including 847 miles in one day from Dayton to home. Parked the ol' girl in bay #2.

managed to get home from work a little early, so i stated loading scrap in my truck to make a run in the morning.

since i sold my off road toy a couple weeks ago, theres a LOT of stuff i dont have any use for anymore.

i filled 2 5gal buckets with loose hardware i'd been saving, and decided to clear out a bunch of hardware, and "dealer fabricated" tools i'd been hoarding in my work boxes for over 20 years, filled 4 more 5gal buckets. 5 gal bucket full of nails, screws, cabinet and door hardware from house renovation projects over the past 12 years.

i'm tired of hanging onto this ****, and it's time for it to go...

Sorry, I have this thing about people on my grass.:lol_hitti

I was talking to a guy at work yesterday. His daughter's cheer team is having a fund raiser - apparently they decorate eggs and hide them in the persons yard. So he tells me that they have to go out Saturday night and hide all these eggs before the sun comes up.
So he says - you know where I'll be Saturday night!
To which I replied - Yeah - in the back of a patrol car trying to explain why you were sneaking around someones house in the middle of the night :lol_hitti

Lots of rain here, so not very appealing to get in/out. Also, the remaining ice/snow came off the roof and partially obscured the door. So...climbing over it makes going to the garage a bit of a pain.

So, I spent the day doing ATV club admin work. sigh. Busman's holiday.

Along with 3D printing some model cars for a local school, installed a vise on my new work bench. It's only 5" but a whole lot better than nothing!

Not without drama, had to drill out the base to use 1/2" bolts.

Got about 1/3of the space on top of my toolbox clean.

It's been covered with duplicate, triplicate and quadruplicate tools. Trying to sell off the wrenches/sockets/etc. that I have too many of. I've got but 2 hands, so I don't need 3 of the same wrench in the house.

After the extras trickle down through my road, home, and auto boxes, I'm posting them for sale here in the classifieds.

Spring cleaning!

Been putting away **** on my work bench, gonna pick up a drill bit index today. Have come to terms I only need 1/16th to 1/2” with some extra of bigger sizes. The rest is hitting the garbage can. Probably should do the same with Knick knacks on there too.

Folks are in town so it’s mostly a big cleaning of the house first and foremost.

Not all that much. Changed the tires on the wifes car from winter to summer, checked the brakes and suspension while in there. Then I cleaned up the workbench and the tool cart and put the mess away which accumulated over the last few days working.

Cut out two rust spots on my best friends car and welded in some new sheet metal, put it in primer.

Then went and got wifeys Golf washed, interior cleaned and waxed in one of the biggest car washes here in the area. Got my C- Class washed also, but when arriving back home and correcting the position of the star on the hood, it gave up the ghost and fell into my hand. The part of the star held by the internal spring corroded away. Guess I'm lucky, could have happened in the car wash. Then it wouldn' t be done with just a new star but a repaint of the hood.

I only did a little sorting and cleaning today. We just finished a major kitchen remodel and I had a junk drawer full of odd tools and hardware to deal with. You know the kind of stuff! Picture hanging stuff, odd screws, electrical stuff, ect that comes home in your pocket and goes into the junk drawer.

Several years ago I got a bargin on 2 stacks of parts trays. The briefcase looking drawers with compartments and the cabinets that hold them. I had a few still empty and I started one that I labeled "odd hooks and pins".

Detailed weeding in the yard.
Changed Gear oil in the 4X4 Project van. Checked all the U. joints, (need to get spares as with the lift, the angle on the rear DS at the Xfer is fairly steep)
Helped my youngest daughter hang 15 feet of high shelves in her room.

I just cut the loop off of a metal coat hanger, straightened it out the best I could, and started bending. The most i got out of one hanger was 6 spots so I ended up with 4 racks. They're not the nicest but for the price (literally $0) and how they turned out I'm happy. They dont move around or fall over anymore and that was the main objective. It took me about an hour but the first couple “designs” didn't really work out that well.

Also the smallest pair of pliers in the pic are 6” linesmen. I made one smaller one for my mini pliers.

Thanks! that's a very clean design, I like it; I've thought about trying the wire-wrapped-around-a-pipe method, but I've wondered about how sturdy that would be. On the other hand, I tried to bend hangers recently to model brake lines before I bend the real tubes and the hangers were surprisingly uncooperative. Anyway -- nice job and thanks for the tip; you've got me noodling now, we'll see what come of it....

Purchased this 68 last year when I was back east. My friend who I bought it from let me keep it at his place for a while.

Since the Honda my “friend” left here is now gone, I have room for my 68 so I brought it home finally.

It got late QUICK, and wanting to do SOMETHING to the truck today, I polished the air cleaner lid. I know chrome don’t get you home, but it sure does look nice!
