Changed oil in my work car and installed a Fumoto valve in place of the drain plug.

Then took both wheels off my Kawasaki to get rubber spooned off so I can solder in replacement batteries in the TPMS sensors.

I really tried to stay in the shop, BUT, my wife baked 41 cinnamon buns and I was called in to test taste one. I had a second CB forced on me. The coffee was very good, also.

Did new tires on my motorcycle a FLH last week along with a new kill switch, clutch plates on another FLH, some shorty Sportster shocks for some guys old lady today, a bunch of motorcycle inspections, tomorrow a fork oil change and a rear tire on a fatty boy.

Getting my buds Ford dually and tandem axle cargo trailer loaded ready for the season opener swap meet a week from this coming Sunday. Redid the custom rear speaker setup in his old Lariat (installed motorcycle handlebar BT speakers )

And put in a new CB radio why the **** I dunno, but he had one in before and wanted a new working unit :eyecrazy: I know my homeboy is old school never mind just old :D

But...breaker breaker does anybody even use these anymore? Geez he even bought one of those field test meter we ran those checks too. :wtf:

Rigged a tow ball frame off the plow hitch on the dump truck to move the trailers around. People stop and stare say it's backwards. :headscrat

We will just go in reverse.

I cobbled together a water drip bottle to cool off the concrete bit, hope drilling a hole in the bottom and putting in some re-bar keeps them in place.

A heart attack roll!

I did the finger jointing on the sides, bottom, and top of the camp box I'm building. I tried to yesterday, but the finger joint fixture needed the key re-glued...

Then I went to get some parts for the extended fence I need to build for the tiny 1936 T saw I'm using so I can cut the dados for the center wall. (two sided box) I may make something to go off this fence for the close work fence, since I don't have the actual fence for this saw...

Can of worms: OPEN!

I’ve decided to tackle some issues while I figure out what I’ll do with the fuel system...

My new to me 68 dodge was cranking slow. Even with a fully charged battery and on 200a engine start. All connections clean, and same thing.

I have an extra high torque mini starter left over from another project, so it was going to go in. Getting the big *** one out of a truck with headers was an adventure, but I managed without having to remove the header.

Then...... I noticed a freeze plug dripping on my forehead as I laid under there.

That was the start...

Then I looked at the freeze plug behind the starter. Not dripping as of yet, but you could tell it was thin. So it came out.

Got the front and rear drivers side side freeze plugs out and ran a hose through it. Mud came out.

Now I’m debating wether or not I should pull the motor/trans to get to the rear of the block. I know they’ll let go at the most inopportune time.... plus I can clean/degrease everything while everything is out.

So I’ll reiterate. The can of worms is OFFICIALLY open...

Got the wife's 74 Mercedes 450SL running. First time since the 80s. Intermittent fuel pump relay had me pulling my hair out until I put a test light on the fuel pump contacts...that made it pretty quick to solve.

Strong sounding motor. Pulls well. Gotta get tires and brakes caught up before we give it a welcome to the family road trip this weekend.

Glad you found the leaking freeze plugs. I thought the wife's old Explorer had a bad head gasket after find anti-freeze leaking and starting to run hot. After I put new HGs in it, it still leaked, that's when I saw the stream of water coming out of a freeze plug with a hole in it.

Walking the dog then off to Home Depot for 2x4s. banged out some simple garden boxes for the GF before I take off for 2-3 weeks work again. 42 linear feet of boxes for the skinny side of the yard on the east side. She’s happy.

Now tomorrow to install them and level out. Some other trades coming by the house for some quotes to get other projects done.

Feeling accomplished today. I finally finished an "easy" project which only stretched out to two years.

I picked up a Yost 865-DI Vise on sale back in 2017. Looking at where the mounting tabs fell on my workbench, I decided I needed it needed reinforcement. I pulled the top, cut the wood to reinforce the bench, but my wood glue was dried up, and then it sat.

Enter a year of needing wood glue and some bolts which finally made it into my garage. Then everything sat until today when I finally glued, screwed, drilled, and mounted my vise. Whew! :lol_hitti

It was a good day. Took the wheels off my Concours 14 and soldered in new batteries in the TPMS sensors. Clayed the paint and buffed the lower fairing which was caked with bugs.

As I was doing that the UPS guy showed up and dropped off a set of Progressive 444 shocks I ordered for my Road King. Just went for a short ride but they are so much better than those air shocks HD saw fit to use. Also changed the engine and primary oil, adjusted the rear wheel alignment which corrected a tracking issue.

Nothing major today. Yesterday’s work outside meant today was horrible for allergies. Spent most of the day organizing a little in the shop.

Went through a recent Craigslist junk toolbox purchase, and pulled out the allen wrenches (US Craftsman) and went through the pouch that came with the 117 piece kit I bought in the early 2000’s when I was 18. I was able to fill some missing pieces with the correct size/date code... seems trivial, but I’m happy to get this kit back to being “mostly” complete. I have had to fill in a few with new Craftsman, but I hope to change that with each new Craigslist junk box purchase haha

Every little bit counts! Haha

I put up 2 more cameras, adding to the smart home/garage. Ordered some more sensors for the shop.

I took a pic of my suburban 2500 and put it up on craigslist.

I really need to get back to working on my project vehicles.

I took out a mower blade to kick off mowing season. First time out this year and within the first hour. Hit some concrete and bent a blade. I went two seasons on them blades with little touch up needed. Glad I got that out of the way!

Rearranged the socket drawer in my main box. Still have to pull out my junkyard box and put the socket back into the main box that I borrowed for a junkyard trip. And still have to go through my backup box and pull out the semi deeps to put in my main box...

Also thinking of taking out all the ratchets and extensions and giving them their own drawer. Gotta clear out a drawer first though.....

Finger jointing continued, or I should say the follow on work continues: Yesterday I had to stop and build an extension fence for my diminutive 1935 Craftsman T-saw, so I could dado the center panel and shelf slots in the glued up and finger jointed sides and top. Then last night I tried to get a part for an extended miter, but could not find a 5/8" wide bar of anything.

So tonight I just used the fence and had to reset it 6 times accurately for the shelf Dados. If they were full width I could have setup 3 times and not been too worried about them not matching but its plenty good across >12"

Finger jointed and Dadoed Sides, bottom, and 1/2 top (the other half is a lid...)

attachment.php

And I also cut the shelves and center panel. this is ALL recycled wood, 2" oak flooring for the sides, top and bottom and old plywood paneling for the center panel and shelves. The outer doors front and rear will also be the paneling.

attachment.php

Glue-up may start tonight, or maybe a fresh start tomorrow as this will be a complicated job with 5 interlocking pieces.

Shop related... packed up more stuff for the move.

We put an offer on a house earlier this week and they accepted. The inspection is today.

House is on 1 acre with a pool and shop already on the property. The shop looks to be a decent size. It's definitely bigger than the half of a 2 car I get to use currently.

Changed the diff oil after a few deep water crossings on the recent past trips. Replaced the drain and fill bolts while I was at it.

Got the top end of the motor prepped, so I can pull the motor.

Still need to get under it and unbolt/disconnect a few things. Mainly exhaust collectors, disconnect shift cable, driveshaft and trans mount. Motor should be pulled tomorrow.

Then degrease, then separate the motor/trans, then replace 2 freeze plugs, swap intakes to a better one, then reinstall... Simple.....

IF I'm lucky I might get a few bags of **** out of my basement workshop at home. Looks like I need to work this weekend to prepare my boss for his presentation to CEO on Monday!

Closest to the garage stuff - trip to Home Depot to buy supplies so Mrs Outlander can paint the spare room. I'm getting a pressure washer out of the deal so can't complain :)

I've been so busy trying to get all the Spring Deadline guys' jobs finished up that I haven't been on the boards too much lately.

The latest is a BIG job for a new customer in Colorado who has a '69 Dart 440 with a six pack ...

His Hurst shift lever had been modified (or repaired) and had seen better days. It was dolled up with my best gloss black with logos that match the metallic light green on his interior.

These HP273 Commandos were shipped out to a young guy in Kansas named Jed Scott. He and his dad are GREAT! (Check out his YouTube channel at Scott's Speed Shop. This video makes me PROUD!!!
