So I just grabbed a new, open box Makita blower, $90 shipped on eBay. Hopefully Batts last long enough for my weekly blowing after edging and mowing.

Re: MAKITA: Teal Deals & Steals Permathread

I tried the makita blower and it's way stronger then both M18 blower, gen 1 and 2...I havent tried the new ego blower yet...
Makita or Ego would be number 1... Then others as far as in cordless atleast ones yu can get from home depot.. Talking about handheld blower, no backpacks.

But battery life ***** in almost all blowers.. Gas backpack is one for lots of usage time.. Got my echo 755st.

I saw somewhere online a pre production prototype of a Makita battery backpack that held 4 LXT batteries with a wire attached to a battery simulator that slid into the tools.

Glad to hear.. I wonder how the run time is.. My echo handheld crapped out on me. I have my backpack for big jobs, but am hoping the Makita will take over for the Echo for the most part.

Thanks drifter r6. That's exactly what I was referring to, only I had forgotten where.

At the end of that page, a reader submitted a comment containing a link to a patent that Makita has applied for involving the use of a stackable MakPak box loaded with a bank of batteries, set up to bring a mass of portable power to more than one power tool, where no plug in power exists.

Home Depot has a deal on the multitool (tool + 4AH + charger) for $129. Seems like a decent deal if you also happen to need the charger and the battery. I'm looking for an OMT and would love to stay in the Makita ecosystem, but it's brushed and an older design. Can anyone who has one share their experience?

I have this unit, I will say its a lifesaver. If i didnt already have it i would be jumping on this one. Yes it will burn through a battery quick enough, but with the 4ah it should last a bit longer.

I use it to make flush cuts against a floor, door frames, fence poles, etc. really cant beat it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've got an old corded Ridgid Jobmax that I like, but I can't stand being tethered. I've been going back and forth about getting the 18V Ridgid vs. staying in the Makita ecosystem. The advantage of getting a cordless Jobmax is that I can switch out the heads that I already own, and it's brushless. The advantage of the Makita is that it's a Makita, although I've read the ergonomics aren't great.

That is cheap for that oscillating tool. I think I paid at least $90 for mine, tool only.

Will my original LXT charger charge the 5 AH batteries or do I need and updated charger. If so, I am going to kick myself for not buying the recip deal above. (already have the oscillating tool and use the heck out of it!)

Yes it will work- however it is slower than the updated rapid charger. i have both and prefer to run the larger capacity batteries on the rapid charger

I found this on eBay and thought some of you Makita guys might be interested:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/282734435357

This is old stock: the difference from new version is that the magnetic bit holder on this version is made of metal (aluminum?) rather than plastic. This is my favorite magnetic bit holder - it really holds onto screws well. Here's a video:

Interestingly, this old stock notes that the bits and holder are made in Taiwan and the nice case is made in Japan. I think the new version is Chinese.

I have the Makita as well as a 12v Bosch. The Makita is definitely more powerful but also much larger. Ergonomics are not great, as you have read.

At the listed price I'm not sure whether to buy another or take the sale as a sign they're coming out with a more compact, brushless unit.

The Bosch is going to my mother's next time I fly out there & I'll just leave it there.

The Makita 18V LXT OMT has an anti-vibration joint in the body that separates the battery from the rest of the tool. One can see this by looking carefully at the photo of the tool, toward where the battery mounts, where there is a seam that wraps around the tool. That seam is designed to allow the mass of the battery pack to wiggle separately from the rest of the tool, to counteract vibration.

The other unique feature that Makita offers are adapters that enable the Makita to fit competitor's proprietary OMT blades, such as those from Dremel/Bosch, and others. There are two accessory adapters (sold as accessories).

Compare the swing of other OMT tools... the Makita has a 3.2 degree swing angle... which means more cutting value per stroke.

That link says WAS $124.99, NOW $149.99.

Even putting the saw in my cart, and going to check out, the price remained $149.99.

No where near $9.

Sorry about that, they have honored price mistakes in the past. I say it was price mistake because they are still taking orders at $150

Re: MAKITA: Teal Deals & Steals Permathread

That went fast. But only 135 lbs torque ?
Edit: Oh wait, I didn't see how long ago that was posted. Sorry ! :)

Little in the weaker side but it’s narrow body makes up for it for lighter duty work, nice impact to have on hand
