The little Stanley Sweetheart no. 761 came in today. The vise has 1 1/2” jaws and was the smallest one that Stanley made. It’s in good condition for it’s age and the paint is original.5de3af9a8d664971174e8d2dc255ab91.jpg03164b80ea759f90cab9d300b4df9264.jpg3dd9b0e7a01b1f4db714af1d131a5e97.jpg

Smitty; sorry to use the word 'cute' on a vise site but that little guy is cute. Nice pickup!

Just thought I would throw this up real quick. Haven't had a chance to mess with any of the vises that I had acquired recently but I had a few minutes to mess with this. Found this a few minutes ago and got a nice laugh. Only because this is a $40 investment. It is obviously torn down now but this is her so you dont have to scroll back a few hundred posts.

There’s something about these little vises that really interest me. Stanley 761, 763 and 765 in the foreground.422c4cc6fed04d0f8ab995760c1e9aae.jpg42bafd4c91815fa87814f4968a7c1c1a.jpg

That came out great!
Now you’re hooked...to get your next vise fix, your days and nights will be filled with endless searching Craigslist, Letgo, Facebook, in your city and ever increasing distances away to other cities. Saturdays you'll be standing in line for early admittance to estate sales. Then cruising the main streets looking for garage sales.

smitty; impressive lineup. how much room is left on that shelf?

I ran into that exact problem. So I built another shelf system. Then that one filled up. I’m planning on building 2 more to get a dozen vises off the floor. After that I have no idea what I’m gonna do. :)

Smitty - That Stanley Sweetheart is a beauty. There's something about that yellow/orange paint that speaks to me.

Sgtgeo - Fantastic job restoring that Morgan. Looks great!

I just purchased this C. Parker vise at a garage sale.
I cannot find much info for this model number.
Any and all info is appreciated.
5.5" jaws.
Model No. 25

I'm very new to the hobby of cleaning up and restoring these old vises. I'm pretty sure I found a gem with this one.

Hello neighbor! Welcome. It appears your vise is missing the swivel base and the handle is banana'd. If you need a solid vise it should do well for you. If you plan to restore to flip, not having the swivel base will hurt resale.

Here!
Relatively new member, but I've been following this thread with interest for a while now.

Is this a real Chas Parker 974? Or some kind of new vise / imitation? Something about it looks off, but I'm probably wrong. These are the only pics I have.

Could anybody point me to where i could possibly find a replacement handle and/or base?
Also, anybody have an idea about the age of this model?

Made by Parker later when Union tool bought the rights and parts to make them. Sometimes called Parker Union vises.

This is the first Prentiss vise that I purchased, it’s been all down hill ever since.1661608e492b081aab9457b525ad708a.jpgac5ef33c50ff9b2665eecded0c662110.jpg0c5d60046df8f602cfe4f499baacded6.jpg

Which style parker do you guys prefer? I prefer the 259x over the 975 but I like the wrench on it.

bagged; both look great and either one would fit nicely on my bench! Like the meatball and the 'can't lose the wrench' features of the 259 though.
