Hey guys, I'm looking for some help with my Quincy QR. I finally got everything setup properly at my place but I am having a problem with my pump leaking out the intake. I can build pressure but as soon as I shut the compressor down you can hear the air out the intake.
Where should I start on this repair?
Thanks in advance!

You have a one way valve into the tank on the pressure line that's leaking. Need to remove it and replace it. The is usually a spring inside it that's probably failed.

Quincy QR pumps do NOT utilize a check valve at the receiver as the discharge valve handles back pressure from the receiver.
If you don't have a parts manual, you can download it off of the Quincy website. You need to pull the discharge valve / valves as that is your problem.
Rotarycomptech has a great series on rebuilding a QR-325 pump on Youtube, you'll get a better idea of what is involved by checking him out. Here's the link...

Here is the link to rebuilding the valves...

Unfortunately I can't post links or images yet, but I have found the parts breakdown. Maybe someone can post them for me?
Anyone have any insight into which parts I should be ordering here?

Ok so here is one of the intake valves taken apart. To me they look fine, everything is loose and the diaphragm is not torn? That being said I'm extremely new to compressors.

That’s the unloaded tower which does have the valve inside. You still need to remove one more bolt to access actual valve. They sometimes don’t seal fully and need to be cleaned or replaced as needed so no air leaks through. The valve plate is pressed against body with a spring.

You sometimes can flip valve plate over to extend lift. I’ve also sanded mating surfaces with 500 then 1000 grit paper on glass plate to ensure air tight seal.

C4, the issue won't be found in the unloader tower. It should be isolated in the discharge valve that is located at the exhaust port that feeds the receiver. Is this a single or 2 stage pump?

The part shown in the bottom of your pic is the intake valve. The discharge valve is similar in appearance.
Look at your parts download for the discharge valve.

So do I need to remove the head to get at this?

Thanks guys I got it, pulled the discharge valves out, sanded flat, and now it seals. I learnt a lot about my compressor in the process.

Glad you got the issue resolved! 'Ain't nothing to it, but to DO it !'

You never replied as to which model pump you have.

Sorry, it's a 325 revision 12 pump. Nice unit but unfortunately at this point I'm into it almost as much as a decent new unit. Oh well.

Hey C4, Well ROC 12 was a circa 1969, which makes it 50 years old...in 50 years, I'll bet this is the first time the valves have had any TLC. :(
Valve maintenance is a normal part of preventative maintenance, especially in an industrial type environment.

I'm confused as to your statement "I'm into it almost as much as a decent new unit" I guessing that you did a lot more than just valve maintenance?
Are you aware of the cost of a brand new QR-25-325 pump?...

Yeah, I have done more than the valves. I purchased the compressor complete, but had to replace the tank as it leaked, and had to do the magnetic switch and that. I know I wouldn't have got into the same series of compressor for what I have in it, but I could have purchased something like a QT-5, and saved myself a lot of headache.
