After checking a few places to buy some new tires, I came across their site. https://www.4wheelparts.com/ I remember them from the days before the internet and paper catalogs, I believe. I think these were the guys years ago that I ordered a body lift for my Ranger from.

They offered a decent price on a set of BFG All-Terrain A/T KO2 DT tires. Good price, free shipping, $50 off and they pay the taxes. I decided to order from them, take advantage of the free shipping rather than pick up at a store an hour and half away. I would have had the local guy mount/balance as I like and trust his work.

They state to allow 24 hours for order status and tracking information. Almost 48 hours later, it still shows order processing. I get nervous and start searching online reviews. HOLY COW ! There's alot of them and many are 1-2 stars. Delays, not right parts, shipped half orders, shipping used parts, poor customer service, people spending hours on the phone trying to resolve issues, no replies to emails and taking forever to give refunds.

I decided to cut my loss right then and there, I called, no answer, even though it was during listed hours. Until they shipped, my CC company said they could do anything. Later in the evening I get an email,

Thank you for your recent order. We apologize for any inconvenience on the delay of your order.

We are in the process of fulfilling your order. Thank you for your continued patience.

Big big red flag to me and I think here we go. I call, and get a live person. I give my invoice number and he says the tires are back ordered. Then he tells me due to having a PO box, that has caused some delay in shipping. Really, I listed the physical address as the shipping address.

I tell him to cancel the order. Which he does. His reply is that it will take 3-5 days for a return on my CC. I let him know that I'm looking at my CC account online and it shows the charge is still pending, that it should be a problem as I haven't been charged yet and better not be charged.

I then called my CC company advised them the order had been cancelled, to note that on my account and if I was charged it would be a fraudulent charge. She said they would take care of it and sounded like she might be passing some information up the chain on this online vendor.

Buyer beware, if it sounds to be good to be true, it probably is.

Amazon has ruined people. 48 hours isnt a long delay for shipping at all. I've had orders take a week to ship from 4wheelparts but they always arrive. They are owned by Polaris and are a huge company. Most of the bad reviews are from the ****** installers or counter guy at their stores. They went from flipping burgers to selling lift kits. They dont know **** and it reflects that in their reviews

Yes, and I suppose it isn't, but charging a customer before you have product in hand is a red flag. Not communicating that something is on back-order is another. Having a customer service rep so poorly trained as to put blame on a customer; that's unforgivable in this day and age.

I have no issue waiting if it's conveyed but when it appears to be happening over and over, I'm out.

Here are some of the reviews I read;

My tires could have been shipped Monday for all I know but I chose to not be another one of the 1-2 star reviewers.

Interesting E. I’ve bought a **** pot load of stuff from them over the years. But in all fairness I’ve either will called it or went into the store just because I have had a few things screwed up and have had to go back more then once. That might sound unacceptable but it was still easier then dealing with a drop ship or remote company and having to do the same thing.

On a side note. I have a slimy SIL who’s mom burned thru a few husbands. One of them was the originator of this company. If I remember right they were married for 4-5yrs during my SIL early teens years. Not long after he sold the company for something like 350M the SIL looked him up along with a big “hi daddy, I always loved you the best” message some 15yrs since she had any contact with him. Within a couple years not only did he pay off their house but also a 200k remodel plus a couple new cars.

Although I never met the guy the impression I had was his success was very much based upon customer satisfaction. And if that was the case it’d be a damn shame if that business premise has gone out the window.

You stated the charge was still pending. That means it wasnt charged but simply authorized which is very common as soo. As an online order is placed to make sure all credit card info is correct. Then the card actually gets charged when shipped. My website does the same thing.

You're right but after seeing the reviews online and getting the email about the delay. I had serious doubts and decided not to be a statistic.

Normally I wouldn't have worried about a slight delay or the charge still in "pending" status but I didn't feel like having a future argument if I could get ahold of them.

Disappointing to hear.. They are owned by the company I work for. I have had good luck other than slightly longer then usual shipping times.
