Yep, they actually alerted me when I picked mine up. Half of the six were expired, others in October. Also had one that didn't have a cap. :wtf:

that I didn't take. I probably already use expired sun screen, only difference is it has been sitting on my shelf.

does it ever actually "expire"? I'm still using through a stock from 2-3 years ago and it prevents me from getting burned

I wonder how you find these clearance markdowns. I go online to our Lowes store and it doesn't show any of these items marked down. (just the regular price)
What is the trick to finding them?

Yes, it does. I'm skeptical of most expiration dates, but sunscreen does indeed become less effective after the expiration date. I decided that the clearance sunscreen is not a deal if it doesn't actually protect as intended.

I don't think so. Just a date to guarantee quality. Maybe over time it separates, but if it goes like intended should be fine. Some chemicals can break down, and be less effective, but not like the day after it expires

I was just about to post this as I was reading this thread. Sunscreen is cheap, no point in taking a chance. Even if you don't get burned that bad, any sunburn at all isn't worth saving a couple bucks.

If you read the thread, it's actually a case of spray sunblock applied too thin - not enough sunblock. The 100 SPF sunblock used would remain effective for years after the "expiration date".

Got curious after the post here about expired sunblock, researched a little and found it is not an issue, within reason. Learned a couple things:

- people typically don't apply enough sunblock, you need a pretty thick layer to get the rated SPF. It's difficult to properly apply the spray sunblocks, they tend to run off and you can end up like the person in the reddit thread.

- sunblock eventually "expires" after 10 years or so and the SPF drops one to three points, but it is still safe and effective to use. The official recommendation is not to use sunblock more than 3 years out of date.

- SPF 30 is the effective maximum SPF - higher SPFs are mostly marketing hype and don't offer better protection.

You need the equivalent of a shot glass full of sunscreen per limb, which you'd be very hard pressed to get with a spray. I'd guess half of it just gets blown away with the wind anyway, so to me they seem to be a waste of money

The part about SPF 30 being the highest effective is partially true. Going from 30 to 50 only gets you 1% more protection (30 to 100 increases it by 2%).

Lowe's in Westboro, MA appears to be dumping more Kobalt tools to make room for Craftsman.

Alot of sockets and various ratchets. I didn't get a pick of the 3/8" impact sets (both shallow and deep sockets). I picked up some dollar items while rummaging.

Picked up some856840 for $5.00 and 864582 for $10.00.Each store is different on reset prices.
