Saturday replaced the straight pipe on the tractor with something shaped like a muffler. Funny thing, it isn't much quieter.

Sunday helped my son pull a motor on his project car.

Almost done with the engine for this one, so I pushed it under the shade. If the engine runs as well as when I pulled it out of the other truck, I may just drive this truck back east haha

I found my 10 MM sockets !!

2 deep six point 3/8 drives, while trying to get several sizes together for our new place in Georgia.

Went into the attached garage rummaged thru the wive's tool box, found my 10 mm short 6 pt. socket !1

All is well at the Buck house !!!!

Not exactly in the garage, but removed old rusted metal bulkhead stair stringers (would have said ripped them out but wasn't enough good metal on one side to justify saying that ). Son got after me the last time he was home about their crookedness and questionable safety but he was right.

Installed the new galvanized stair stringers that I had shipped in from the mid-west last week (they were $ 30-40 cheaper than my local big box store which would have had to order them anyway).

Now I have a set of solid and level stairs again. These should out last me, the previous set were used 2nd hand to begin with 30 plus years ago.

Got pissed off at Rustolium again!:

I finished painting the stove box and less than an hour later gave it a second coat (did the same thing yesterday 3X!)

Box is fine, even on the front that was painted 24 hours before.

The effing lid crinkled on me, (and not even consistently!)

Second time Rustolium has done this, last time with with clear coat following their directions to a Tee... AND its all the same can of paint...

This corner I had to build up the foot with weld (did that on top of a brass piece and welded almost 1/2 the ring with a MIG)

Dropped my 3,- thrift shop vise grip Saturday and the release handle broke. Made a new one this evening.





A bit of drilling, bending and lathe work.
Peening went well too. All works as it should.

Very nice fix. Looks exact.

If you run the exhaust down and out towards the back, putting the muffler under the rear axle, with a little down turn on the end of it, your tractor will be quieter. It's what I did to my TO-20 to shut it up.

Did the front brakes and brake fluid flush on my daughters' 2016 Mazda6. Finished the parts painting on the Reed Vise in between wheels. Painted the words on it at the end of the evening.

I've stopped using Rustoleum because of their ongoing QC issues. Talked with them and they claim their paint has more "solids" than anyone else, and I absolutely agree but that doesn't make it superior.

I figure if I'm going to take the time to prep and paint anything I want the paint to come out as expected. Duple-Color has been amazing but is slightly more expensive, which is the only downfall versus Rustoleum.

I feel like Rustoleum's target market is the random people who just want to slap paint down heavy so it looks new for 6 months.

I just painted a cylinder cap with their rusty metal primer. The stuff was so thin, you could see the metal through the primer.

I primed the cylinder itself with XO rusty metal primer.

I wonder if their claim is for top coats and not necessarily primers. I know their self etching primer sprays very well compared to their color coats.

Made a custom starter strip for the siding work. Cut up some siding. Cleaned the final ubend from some gunk that came downstream from a clogged kitchen sink.

Nice work. I did the same thing on a Chevy Traverse a couple of weeks ago. Mine was a tight fit too. Thought I was going to have to have my daughter help with her little hands!

Cut a couple pieces of MDF scraps I had to add a couple shelves in my wife's pantry. Funny, when we bought the house, there were cleats all up the walls for shelves, but no shelves...

So I cut some MDF. Got sawdust EVERYWHERE. Remembered why I hate cutting MDF indoors.

While we were chatting, it suddenly got very windy. I thought, I better go take that ladder down. Just then, the wind caught it, and it blew down, bashed a dent on the porch on the way down, then shattered on the ground. I hate ladders.

There is one thing I've learned over the years - the more I do the more things just happen.
It's a matter of percentages and odds.
It all more than evens out when I know how to fix it after it happens because i do a lot of things and learned something from each of them.
You know how to fix that hood. You already have at least two plans - you're just trying to figure out which one is best

Got the motor set in there. I may have to move the drivers side motor bracket to behind the ears instead of in front, but that’s a tomorrow problem.

For now, it’s at least in there. I’m hoping that I can have it all hooked up and at least moving under it’s own power in a couple of days

Still need a good fuel tank, but I’ll run it off a jug for now, so I can tune it. I’m still undecided if I want to spend $200 on a tank for under the bed (gonna need some fab), or $300 for a stock replacement behind the seat tank.

I’m a stickler for originality sometimes...
