At 10am this morning I looked like this. 250391c0b583fd8d92e06f4c7eb32cce.jpg This was in the shade. Love me some Florida, heat and all.

Was this because the toilet was still off? :lol_hitti

You guys are tougher than me. That hot that time of the day... it's off to the beach!

Haven't checked in in a while and first thing I see is questionable potty accident
so I went back a few pages to get the real story.
Nice mug shot with the statue

I didn't like the heat while I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago

Well that’s because it was still early.

Gunter, the beach sounds like a good idea but to much backlog. Guess growing up here, it’s kind of normal. Luckily winters aren’t to cold so plenty of QST.

Don, I will admit I liked the weather Sacramento and San Diego better than here. Luckily with all the tax savings, I can run AC in shop office. [emoji16].

John, I have plenty up there so I’ll be happy to donate to your shop. [emoji16]

Today was another oven type day but I did make progress on both the garage and the shop.
I wanted to move the tall blue file cabinet under new bench but the cross pieces prevented that. Removing the bottom bar and the front and rear top support allowed the file cab to fit like a charm. f0d2a327ca79e3e601907d802fe18f4c.jpg
40a780abecd050f19b7fb9be67b09d3f.jpg
I want to drive a screw through cab into leg so there’s no wobble. Zip tied to the workstation is a temp solution. dc73fe07a1080ce392f47c64157ed3b9.jpg

I prefer California weather as well but it's not just the taxes. I just paid $208 to register three vehicles -- for TWO years.

At the shop I unloaded the estate sale goodies I got last week. If you remember from a couple weeks ago, I thought I’d work on 5 projects at once. Well today, I focused on 1 of the 5, the sander (laptop) cart. Since the casters weren’t standard bolt pattern, I made some plates the other week. To get the original casters off, 674d1e9b96f5dec8229c9a6a55dd981b.jpg the entire base had to be removed. 0b03b3d59a8c1941804c3b5e2f3d9f5b.jpg I’m swapping casters so I can lower the height of cart and not using the base lowers it an additional 1-1/2”. Yay!
At first I was going to weld casters to plate and then bolt on use original caster holes. 8d1d45b9ac6872d2f6a481e665d9c77d.jpg
Since the base isn’t going to be used, the plates are drilled for the casters. Safety tip, use vise to hold work. Luckily no blood was shed finding this out. e8cb02ecb27a0e2195a7867cc548a0a2.jpg
One down, three to go. a360060536c1cae89a4511a92eb9091b.jpg Second caster went quicker then WTF. dae1614a1b2fe7ec4bc58a26b40e9605.jpg Same store, same size and rating but one with locks, two different bolt patterns. Repeat the process for two plates and I’m almost finished. 1927fee1361fd8a37fd7d54ba8f16379.jpg

I had a revelation tonight. Glad you didn't shed blood on the caster project. But I realize your interpretation of Quality Shed Time may be somewhat different than that of the rest of us. It does not mean you should have an good time shedding blood doing projects. I can understand your interpretation, though.

There are two curved pieces on bottom that will keep casters from touching the floor. First thought was to use the portable bandsaw to trim them. Instead I broke out the dual crescent wrench brake. Second one I was able to do a better job on. A little hammer/dolly and I was pleased. fea3ac12c73aa0e8c4abdc071be88402.jpg
The finished project turned out to be the exact same height as my bench. 0f8065ae855cbcc5d9b2ccb80b0d92d3.jpg Next was experimenting with how some of my sanding supplies will fit. 9426033694136bc93b3c615849b742ad.jpg
Next up is finishing the bench grinder stand. The Baldor runs so smoothly that I was able to use it on the casters plates without it being bolted down. b6d0c9c59a982cf38b466f6672130e51.jpg

Or the $4.00 gas. Yep, when I registered my ‘85 442 there, I think it was around $250 the first year. When I returned to Florida, $30.

Dandy sanding supplies storage.

If you would drop off the Baldor grinder on your trip to inspect Don's facility I will get it prepped properly for you to use. Properly will involve several years of performance testing, of course, in order to certify it is ready for your use.:bounce:

At work yesterday I decided to make a to-do list so I wasn’t bouncing around like last weekend. 4a7ecdce85179790e160802ae402be41.jpg
First on list was to troubleshoot powered recliner. We had a thunderstorm and the chair stopped working. Luckily it was the power supply so I robbed the one from the couch until the replacement gets here. Happy wife.....
Next goal was to make a scrap metal run. Some of the parts I cleaned out of Toolfool’s shop, I was thinking I could sell. Thinking soundly, a bench seat and stock front drum brakes probably aren’t in high demand. 7a66e9c0338af6a41ffdf230c6560ba3.jpg
It took some time to strip the seat and headrest. bbfb0b1c273a7030495f8a33d349cd33.jpg Disassembling a seat was new for me so I learned how it went together. I thought I was dealing with 70 Chevelle stuff but found this tag on the seat. b3989cfb12354564cd1743d121711b84.jpg Boy, mice and rat turds show up everywhere.
I’ve always wondered how headrest are built. Took these apart so I could get the SS flat bar.
a36722b9a3c071eb84b2827392816afb.jpg
In hindsight, I should have left them intact and made shop stools. Lol. 26b6bb1f14c5660fe75b8714839e44db.jpg
At 10am this morning I looked like this. 250391c0b583fd8d92e06f4c7eb32cce.jpg This was in the shade. Love me some Florida, heat and all.

And final project of the day was to move all the swap meet boxes and totes that were blocking the SL up to the loft where they will be ready to take to Flywheelers in February. ccf3b5629a5432150e645ce59292e4e2.jpg

I did oil changes on my three vehicles yesterday. No pics, but I was soaked and worn out. Getting too old for sliding around on the concrete driveway.

Dukar the hat must be causing the problem. That are you’re not enjoying the cooling benefits of a pair of Florida Safety Shoes.

On the driveway? Should have brought them by. My half lift is definitely better then the ground. My truck needs changing so you could have knocked that out too.

Since generator has been tested and cans are full, Saturday was QST time. I was going to finish the hanger for wife’s glass net balls. The rod from the realtor sign I cut up was on the heavy side so decided to use the headliner bows from the Chevelle parts. 404359bd3eab74c7db3bb3ce6bc957de.jpg
After making the mounting plate I decided I didn’t want three hole drilled in our Hardie board. Time to rethink the hanger.
Looking at the pieces from the sign, helping hands came to mind. Hey a simple and quick project and I think they will be beneficial. e7ffb3f37c9221e5c83d0c77b9ea3eb3.jpg
After that I was going to work on the bench grinder stand then thought, no, get back on the tasks needed to allow work on SL.

To work on the SL I need to fix a leak on the driver side MaxJax post. To fix the lift, two panels I attend as wall covering needed to be moved. Instead of moving them again and again, I decided to install them. Here’s the before shot of right side of the door. a2ca738a6bb6b33699115cfec5e85e7f.jpg
Because of a corner bracket I decided to install the sheet in two pieces. bf61bf2dfb163022bf3f7b2f91573fc1.jpg this was the easy side. I like the clean look and glad it is done.
The left side I measured twice and cut, when trying to put it in place, it was being difficult. It was late, I was hot and tired now frustrated. I finally realized it was one rib to wide. Time to go home.

Today I was on my way to see Toolfool (John) and a guy was hauling old fence panels in a trailer. Next thing I know the top panel flys up. At first it was going straight back then flew towards my lane. WTF. I ended up running over part of it with my left tires. Errrrrr! We have a law that loads are supposed to securely fastened down but he didn’t have the first strap. Ironically there was a trooper down the road but Trooper didn’t budge.
When I was ready to leave John’s, I had a low pressure warning for the left rear. Errrr! Now I’m kind of wishing I’d stop to tell the trooper.
Got to the shop and found the leak. d2f3fb10e718abea9d900256b150cbaf.jpg I tried fixing it with a string plug but it wasn’t seating right so I MacGryvered it. Took a roofing tack, put it through a piece of the tar string. It slowed the leak enough until the tire store opens tomorrow. 25fba3ccb2f6b1dbf0f0f6468867a1c2.jpg

With the tire situation dealt with, time to get back on panel installs. I narrowed the panel to the correct width and notched the top to fit the door bracket. With some struggle, I got the panel in and screwed down. Admiring how nice it was, I quickly noticed this marking on the panel. 67c3d7920603a5beb71124dd63a63e24.jpg Well ****, I forgot to drill hole for garage door opener switch, along with leaving the switch behind the panel. Did I mention it was hot and the sun was shining in on that side?
Removed all the lower screws, drilled hole, insert grommet, then repeated with a bigger hole and grommet. The finished product, clocked screws and all. 667484ef586072dd77139a355772a806.jpg. Here’s the finished panel. So glad this is done but will be causing some Tetris. 72288ff745d0db5d406c6096740db15f.jpg

Stewart, that sure looks like fun! Amazing how a little covering on the wall spruces the place up. Good to see you didn't just tin-snip a hole to reach the buttons because I had visions of a ****** massacre.

It looks like Dorian has a permanent attic in the Bahamas and is getting tired. It'd be nice if he just died right where he is.

I keep a tire plug kit in the go bags for the Cruiser and Corvette. One time I had a slow leak in an almost new Goodyear tire. Was feeling rich and lazy so I drove to the Goodyear store. No warranty, no road hazard and no plug. "The puncture is within an inch of the sidewall so we can't repair it." Because the tire was already dismounted and being held ransom, I paid the $138 for a new $60 tire. Needless to say I plug my tires at home from then on or take just the punctured tire to the shop.

Thanks for stopping in. My roofing tack did the job. Made it to tire store. Having a sale so went with four matching tires, ouch!
The plugs I have are NAPA Balkamp so that dates them to around 1985 to 1995. Still nice and gummy. This hole was problematic so the plug wouldn’t set right. I need to get some new plugs.

Blood? Who said there wasn’t bloodshed? I was walking by the entry door and got this present.

Well, we were wondering how long this blood less streak would last.
Hate when you slice yourself on such simple things, man we were waiting on a war story!:lol_hitti

Tire sale, yeah right, this is what sweet talked him into a brand new set of tires.

I made sure I'll never get another flat. I bought a good plug kit at Flywheelers. Now I know I'll never need to use it.

I have the same kit, had to use it once, but it was on Shortys wife’s suv when he was at my place.

Nothing like getting a flat in your wife’s car while trying to sneak home a lathe home.:lol_hitti

All I want for Christmas is a tire plug kit, a tire plug kit.

Mack, isn’t bringing home a lathe worth a broken ankle? Lol.

Shorty, the panels do you make it look nice and clean in there. How it’s nice to get something out of your way and in use.

The act of bringing home a new lathe might be worth a broken ankle, but trying to sneak a new lathe home is not worth it.

In hind sight, I should have told my now former spouse that I bought another lathe and if you don't like it, too bad. And no, she didn't break my ankle.
