Either of kythrie's links will work. The grey one is from Ryobi P2052 which is the Ryobi version of our exact trimmer. Part is slightly cheaper if you don't mind the incorrect color.

I love the C3 trimmer, btw. Use it every time I mow. Although I always reload mine with green .080 Craftsman XQ spiral line instead of the .065 it came with from Sears. Lasts considerably longer than the blue .065 stuff.

It's been that way for a long time now. C3 was announced for phase out years ago. The only thing left to die at this point is Sears itself. The last Sears in the state shut down this past spring. Kind of surprised me since it was one of their busier stores and it was a location they owned, not leased.

As I've mentioned a dozen times, I have no plans to stop using my C3 tools. Been using them most days for 12 years and I know they'll last years more. Today I used the trimmer and the leaf blower mowing the yard, and I used the 3/8 impact, incandescent worklight, the Bluetooth Stereo, and the crappy fan installing an Edelbrock intake manifold on a 76 Chevy K20.

I hear you. The clutch on my drill seems to be having issues. Normally I’d buy another, but seeing the new Craftsman stuff and all the options available, it really makes me think of switching. I can take my fan, angle grinder, and cut out tool and sell them on eBay and have more than enough to switch. I have others that are commanding a good price. I used the fan after Hurricane Irma and haven’t touched it since. Might ditch the tools I don’t use to fund the change. Still on the fence.

I have the C3 fan, but it is a joke. Completely laughable how little air it moves. Tiny little blades with essentially zero shrouding batting hopelessly at the air. Hopefully whoever designed that was fired. Only good thing I can say about it is the runtime is solid. Runs all day on a 4.0. The only tool that was worse was worse was the ratchet.

It is unfortunate. The C3 line was the right price and quality for my use. I'll likely look okay picking up used tools here and there because I can't image switching over now. Although it would be nice to get into a system that offers a miter saw.

There is a miter saw. Part number was BT2010. There are no cheap ones at the moment on eBay, but they occasionally pop up around $100. It's only a 7.25" blade and not a slider, so it can't cut much more than a 2x4 with one cut, but I do use mine and like it. I actually use it a lot more than my corded 10" slider which is usually overkill for whatever project I'm doing. Like the circular saws, the included blade is kind of garbage and it works a lot better with a Diablo.

I’ll agree with this assessment of the fan. I will say, however, that after we lost power after Hurricane Irma, I was thankful I had it. I had that thing blowing on me all night while I tried to sleep in the humid heat. For a completist, it’s essential.

Mine is still up on ebay, along with the one-handed recip saw and now the angle grinder. The cutout saw goes up next. Later on, I may offer up the blower and hedge trimmer.

My most used tools are the drill, impact driver, impact wrench, recip, trim saw, sander and buffer. I use the blower too, mostly because I just haven't ponied up for a real one. But it's good for cleaning the garage floor.

Honestly, I’ve been picking up cheap lots on Facebook or letgo, keeping what I want and selling off the rest. So now I have almost everything made, minus a couple things. Still want to find a good router (flipped one cause it was cracked on the base), the stapler has still avoided me, and the large 7-1/4” saw has avoided me too.

Also keeping all the batteries. Saw someone gutted them, screwed them to a board on the wall to display / store them in plain sight. Think I’m up to 18 nicad’s to gut out now lol.

The trim saw should make it through a 2x4 just fine cutting at 90 degrees. That's what is was designed to do. I use mine all the time. The full size 7.25" is really nice, but a little hard to find. The 6.5" is pretty common and pretty cheap. It'll make 45 degree cuts through a 2x4. The 6.5" also has a more powerful motor on it than either of the 5.5" saws.

Nearly all Ryobi 18v tools up until 2014 had Craftsman 19.2v versions. One that didn't was the Ryobi P2500 Pruner. Ryobi manufactured very, very few of these for some reason, and it was never sold in Craftsman form. I happened across one for sale and converted it from Ryobi One+ batteries to C3 batteries. Works great!

I have the C3 Miter saw that I bought about 5 years ago from Sears. At that time I bought the bare tool, which cost just under $100.00. At the same time I also bought a few of the 4Ah larger lithium batteries for it, as most of the reviews of the saw said it cut better with the bigger batteries.

And it does. It can easily cut thru a 2x4 if you let the blade spool up to full speed first, which only takes a second or two.

The saw is also great for cutting PVC pipe up to 2 inch. Anything larger than that and the motor housing on the handle will hit the pipe and not allow the blade to cut all the way thru on one pass. Then you have to either flip the pipe over, or rotate it around if you want to keep the blade in the same groove you just cut.

If you can find one of these now, it is a great addition to your C3 collection. It works great for trim work, simple 2x4 construction projects, and all your PVC pipe projects up to 2 inch diameter pipe.

There is also a Ryobi version of the miter saw too. It looks pretty much identical to the Craftsman C3 saw, which make sense, because I think they were both made by the same company.

Can others comment on their experience with the Knock off Lion 19.2V battery's on eBay? It would be good to hear a few more experience. It is a great price right now and they have the gauge which is important on the Lion batteries as they die with out any warning.

I have two of the generic "Masione" 19.2v lithium ion batteries. They won't charge with the larger dual chemistry charger I have but work with the tiny charger that came with one of my OEM 1.3ah batteries. One has been working great for about 2 years. The other one developed a fault after a month or two of light use were while in use it will stop dead and won't work, charge or display the charge level unless you take the case off and jumper past one of the mosfets. Once jumpered it will charge and work normally for a while. The seller at first offered to replace the defective battery but later decided to only give me a 50% refund.

Lithium batteries last a long time if they aren't stored in a hot environment. One of my XCP batteries is 10 years old, and I cannot tell a difference in runtime between it and the new ones.

And even if the cells do eventually die, a battery shop can always replace them. And you can even use 2.5 or 3.0 cells to have 2.5/3.0 XCP single packs or 5.0/6.0 XCP double packs. I bought some dead XCP packs and did that awhile back, but ended up selling them and making some money.

Long story short is we can use our C3 as long as we want to. I plan to keep my stuff forever rather than investing a couple thousand in dozens of a new, different tool line.

At some point, I plan to switch to Ryobi, but until I "have to", I will keep using the C3 line. Heck, I might even use a tool with a ... cord. YUCK!

What do you mean by a Battery shop? Any place I have been to wants to sell you new batteries not repair them. I suppose I should look on Youtube for vid on how it is done?

Then these places will test the battery to make sure it works, and then send it back to you. The cost for this service is usually a bit less than the original cost of the battery when it was new.

Or, if you're a handy person, you can buy the individual cells and replace the bad cells in your battery yourself. It is not hard, just time consuming.

Doing it yourself, and buying the individual cells will cost you about half the original cost of the battery.

As of today, for the first time ever, there is not a single Craftsman C3 item that I can get new from Sears. I knew this day was coming, but it is still a bit sad.

I should have bought up all the C3 tools I could get a month ago, but I didn't.

I cut the proper connector out of a sacrificial C3 tool, open up the Ryobi tool, do some dremeling to make a C3 battery slide in it, cut out the Ryobi connector, and solder in the C3 connector I previously cut out, and put it back together. It's janky for sure, but I've had good luck with it.

Mostly correct. "Sending" the battery just means dropping it off at local battery shop and picking it up a day or two later when they're done. I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself even if you're "handy" unless you own the proper spot welder to do it. Battery cells cannot be soldered. If you heat the end of the cell hot enough to melt solder, you've heated it enough to cook the electrolyte inside.

Also remember nbpt, if you'd like a shop can install better cells than came in originally. 5-cell XCP packs used 1.5ah or 2.0ah cells, and 10-cell packs used 2.0ah cells for 4.0ah. I was having them install LG HG2 cells, which is a power-tool grade 3.0ah cell. So 5-cell packs are now 3.0ah and 10-cell packs are now 6.0ah.

New to this thread... I have a couple of C3 drills (regular & angle) and the flourescent light that need new batteries. I did a little reading and it looks like I may want the XCP batteries plus a compatible charger. Anybody that can suggest the most inexpensive offering of 2 batts + charger? Also, if this is cost effective as opposed to buying newer model offerings, I might be interested in picking up an impact drill to add to my collection.
