I found the tin at an estate sale on Friday, and after scrounging through my stash was able to put most of this together in an age-appropriate way.

Just missing the 3/8,7/19, and 1/2. I never set out to collect SK, but they seem to grow like weeds...

That can happen! Let me know if you would like me to send you the missing sockets.
I put my wartime 3/8” drive ratchets together for a photo op yesterday.

I have the 7/16" and I'll keep it in my truck for you.

Saturday I found some old 1/2" drive tools in a later Craftsman box. At first, I thought that they were Indestro, since the ratchet matched the pattern of one shown on Alloy Artifacts, and the sockets seemed to match early Indestro. Since none of the items have a maker's mark, identification relys on appearance.

After I posted them in the Garage Sale and Indestro threads, GJ members informed me that they have all the attributes of early S-K, and a look at Alloy Artifacts S-K section confirms this. Perhaps the followers of this thread can confirm this?

The ratchet looks like the AA example, but mine has continuous knurling on the handle and the AA example has bands of knurling. Otherwise, they seem to be identical.

The extensions (4-1/2" and 9") seem to be almost identical to the AA examples.

The sockets are identical to the AA examples.

The sockets include many duplicates. The 12-point sizes include 1-1/16 (1), 25/32 (3), 3/8 (1), and 11/32 (3). the 8-point sizes are 3/8 (1) and 5/16 (2).

Since I don't collect S-K, and this is far from a complete set, I'll be willing to trade items from this group.

That’s interesting that Provincial’s and all of yours look just like the one I found that I put in with my early S-K sockets. It could be that that AA has an oddball since ours all seem to be the same.

I have seen a couple with the knurled bands. Probably just a year to year difference. Here is an early 3/4 drive set.

That is a really nice 3/4” drive set. Since the ratchet has the ‘40 patent and is chrome plated, I would bet that it was made between ‘40 and early ‘42 before the metal restrictions.
I was gifted another diamond marked 1/2” drive speeder so I took a comparison shot or two. The finishes are different with two being polished and chromed and the other was rough and chromed. I added a 3/8” drive speeder in the second picture.

This very complete SK Tools midget set followed me home last Saturday. The only issue is the bent t-bar handle. For $10, I'm super happy.

Here's some I forgot to post earlier. They are 15/16 to 1 1/4. I originally owned the whole set but when I started working for the Massey Ferguson dealer in 1962 I found I liked the long pattern in the smaller sizes so I bought the set from 3/8 to 7/8 and gave the corresponding SK wrenches to my father to use in the kit he carried on his boat.

Not sure How popular these all were but I do plan on doing this whole display! Does anyone know if these shelves even exist anymore or any advice on finding some? Otherwise this box is the bottom on the 1953 display

Wow! If you could complete that display I'd bet S-K would be interested in buying it!

That is an ambitious and admirable goal. I have never seen those shelves but it might be possible to fabricate them. Please keep us advised on your progress.

I’ve never seen any of those. They do have the characteristic S-K punch marks beside the sizes. Very cool set.
These are the sockets I found at the Tahoe flea yesterday. Even these newer sockets have the punch marks. I was happy to add the 5/8” socket to my slowly growing wartime toolbox.

I picked up this S-K Wayne 47170 yesterday with a Craftsman =V= 3/4 drive sliding T, and a mystery 3/4 breaker bar with what appears to have the factory stamping ground off, all for $20.

They all looked rough, breaker bar has a Frankenstein bolt repair, but the 47170 worked great. It is also double engraved by the same guy, who put his name on the selector side of the head in large, sloppy, off-center cursive (favoring the left side), as well as his initials on the handle right by the head
Edit: he also tagged the sliding T and breaker.

After I cleaned about a pound of old grease and chrome flakes out of the head, then sanded down the backside of the selector where the chrome chipped, soaked in boiling hot water with dawn and sg, scrubbed, dried, and put back together with a thin film of super lube. It works sooooooooooo good. Oh my Lord.

Fyi, the selector on this was triple chromed. It was very soft.
Pictured with a NOS S-K Wayne 40970.

I recently found this long 1/2” drive ratchet with the drive side broken. I’m waiting for the repair kit to arrive from S-K. It should be a pretty nice ratchet when completed and one I didn’t have. I also found this well used box yesterday that I feel compelled to fill up.
