Does anybody here have a Dairex Assassin polisher? This is a stone polishing tool. I'm having trouble finding an air fitting for it. It's not 1/8th inch pipe.

Unfortunately you will wind up using adapters to get to normal QD fittings. Diarex doesn't seem to care about what they do to us users.

Ok, it looks like these stone polishers are coming out of China. Gison is another brand that looks exactly like the Dairex, except the rubber around the handle is blue instead of red, and it says Gison GPW-7 instead of Dairex Assassin. So I did some google-fu and found Tool City in St. Louis who has the air inlet nozzle and the hose adaptor for the Gison for sale on their website. $7. I ordered one and I'm betting it will fit. We shall see.

The ones on Amazon are pipe threads--I already drove the local NAPA guys nuts looking for a quick-connect pipe thread that would work. But no dice.

Yes, the ones I found on Amazon were BSPT, not BSPP. However, BSPT should fit into BSPP with sufficient teflon tape. It's not something I'd like to use in home plumbing, where a leak could cause huge damage, but on a tool, it should be fine.

No, they wouldn't fit. I spent a lot of time at NAPA trying. Couldn't even get the threads to start.

NAPA has BSP threaded fittings? I wouldn't expect that.

Those are BSP (British Standard, Pipe), which is different than BSPP (British Standard, Parallel Pipe)

Yes, I understand. The difference is ONLY in the taper. A male BSP fitting can be crammed into a female BSPP bore. It won't fit well, and it won't engage on too many threads, but it may work well enough for these purposes.

The difference between BSPT and BSPP is analogous to the difference between NPT and NPS.

and neither of which will make an airtight seal if engaged to one another.

Yeah, that's funny. First off, on an air tool, and airtight seal isn't actually important. You can loosely hand tighten in a male QD on the tool and have it leak like crazy, and the tool will still work fine.

Second, enough wraps of teflon tape WILL make it seal up just fine.
