They don't cut wire at all unfortunately. Are you saying that you would just bin them? Bit patronising btw. I'm a technician so need tools that function to make a living.

Edit...... 2 mins with a file and they now work ok. The cutters are a design that I have not seen before. One side has an edge as expected but the other side is a flat surface. Like a knife on a chopping board rather than two knives coming together.

I specifically said you aren't, btw. Look at that, a 2 min fix vs an exchange. In all honestly, which was easier?

It's an "anvil" style.

Because the company they rep can’t do quality control?

B/c many members (not lemons) are more interested in looking at a tool than using it. i.e. superficial chrome spec or paint flaw deep inside a socket == demanding return/replace of an entire set. I can imagine why truck drivers in some areas are reluctant to deal with people who might fall into the latter sort when they're already working hard to stay afloat.

Did the lock mod right out of the gate with the HF cart. The 56 Top box is waiting for the lower coming next week. Top box is pretty nice.

But was it cheaper than getting it from Tekton.com where shipping is free once you register and you get 10% back in rewards.

Yes!

I spent money to save money. It’s why I spent $250. Basic garage journal economics. Free shipping plus 25% off is hard to beat.

Swung by HF today while out shopping with the wife. Picked up a few items.

1. Motorcycle tire balance/truing stand (I'll be assembling that tonight for use this week)

2. Merlin blow gun kit
3. Pack of shop rags

4. 2 boxes of the solar lamps (for the side of the house)

5. Rake. (replacement for one we sort of lost or left behind when we moved)

Of course I used multi-20% coupons and the girl at the register look thru everything and found me a couple more discounts.

Swung by Harbor Freight for some magnetic hooks and while there, I saw that they had one of the extra long 3/8 flex head ratchets with the all metal handle left so, i snagged it. It's really nice. I also noticed that they have some new DOYLE branded screwdrivers. They had a two piece demo driver set for like $8.98 before using a 20% coupon so, i grabbed those to use as beaters at work. They also had a Doyle six piece combination screwdriver set that looked interesting. It had #1 & #2 phillips along with a short and long 3/16 cabinet screwdrivers, and 1/4 x 4 and 5/16 x 6 flat tips. The flat tips had striking caps on them. The phillips and the flat tips had hex shaped blades and vapor blasted tips. All had blade ID type on top of the handle.

wein 6369 drywall sander. Today I got it out and started using it to sand down the stippled ceiling in the garage. With a little experience I think it will do a good job. I was able to do about 1/4 of the garage ceiling in 30 minutes. I plan to hit it again tomorrow evening.PSX_20190929_193244.jpeg

What’s the length on the long ratchet? Didn’t see any on the rack when I swung by.

Icon Jumbo SAE. Didn’t think they would have any yet. $75 with 10% coupon off worked out to $67 or so. Thanks to whoever mentioned the coupon.

No anti slip. Not that I have seen jumbo sets with it.

Capri 11850-7MRK Super Thin Metric Open Ended Wrench Set

Bought this for a bunch of applications. Two off the top of my head are caliper slides (sometimes the sleeve spins and I can't get a regular wrench in there) and die grinder collets.

Just got my set of Capri metric thinnies! They look the same as yours...

I got frustrated once again last week by a couple of things I had trouble reaching on a motorcycle (valve stem nuts, cable adjusters), and finally remembered... wait, there's a good solution for this now.

These things are VERY nice in person. Made in Taiwan.

I've got a couple of bit sets from Capri, too -- seems to be a very nice quality Taiwanese brand.

Finally got the 3/8" 10-100 ft-lbs Armstrong torque wrench and 1/4" 30-200 in-lbs to go with the 1/2" 25-250 ft-lbs one I had.

1/4" was brand new, but calibrated.

3/8" was used and calibrated, but looked new.

I also picked up this Armstrong 1/4" 5 to 50 in-lb model listed as use for parts only on Ebay.

Came in complete, unlike the picture on Ebay, and seems to work fine. Best I can tell is the handle is off where zero on the handle dial and 5 in-lbs on the scribed settings should match up. It's more like 7 on the dial meets 5 in-lbs. It was cheap and I wanted to see what was wrong. I'll have it checked out for cal and or repair.

Bought this for my Dad as a present. He has to repair the old copper pipes on his childhood home and summer property yearly. Thought it was a good deal on the Home Depot flash sale the other day.

Got a new compressor for my shop...
Saylor Beal Duplex (dual 5hp) Single phase 120g tank pressure lubed, auto drain, Dual aftercoolers and filters! Got this unit cheap and it’s brand new still in crate!

Had a pad poured and now we’re putting a shed around it.. next up will Be electric got a qoute from a friend (gotta say it was more than expected! )

Also new here been reading post on a lot of different topics over the years...

Kinda stuck between running copper or that blue stuff for air lines .. (not really liking the blue stuff)
Only advantage I see with blue stuff is faster but I’m not in a race ...

Rapidair and the other similiar brands (blue stuff) is a more complete offering in my opinion. There is the Fastpipe aluminum for long runs of hardpipe and all the other flexible stuff for different needs as well. It's definitely prettier and more finished looking than copper and has nice fittings to work with instead of sweating connections with copper. There is usually Rapidair kits on sale somewhere that will get you set up for the most part. Guess it depends on what you are comfortable with and prefer in your space to look at.

Grabbed the new model Ryobi Inflator from the orange box store yesterday. Had to crawl up onto the overhead to get it. They had several of the previous models with charger and battery on the shelf on sale for $54, clearly trying to clear those out first. This one was $49.98.

Love Klein screwdrivers, this 4" #2 rounds out my set. These seem to fit my hands well and are of good quality.

Grandpa cleaned out some stuff from his working days and said he had no use for this stuff.

Unfortunately I don't really either, but maybe someone will.

HF's marketing wanks diddled themselves long enough I didn't get a chance to even try their Icon wrenches in either metric or SAE. They came close on the metric but still a day late and a dollar short as the week before I saw they had finally put out their Icon gear I saw a seller on amazon had dropped their price on the 750 set to $105. I've never really liked my wrenches in anything but a high polish but I gotta say these satin wrenches aren't bad looking. The working ends are polished but the satin finish beams look better than anything else I've seen that wasn't a high polish. The only oddity I can see (apart from their rolls apparently no longer being the blue denim pictured) is that the roll itself says it's set 711 which is the SAE set. Everything else says 750 and they are the metric wrenches so whatever. LOL

Just finished assembling the new drafting table for my office that I purchased off of Amazon. Very sturdy and has a nice thick glass top. Only took about 20 minutes to assemble. Over all I'd say its a pretty good deal for only $75.00 with tax and free delivery.

There are other styles with different type legs and for more money, but I wanted this simple straight leg type as its more adaptable to the modifications I want to make. Also be adding some accessories too.

Tomorrow I'll move out the small desk in my office and bring this in. That'll eat up most the morning.

I've had 2 sets of Wrightgrips...SAE came in blue denim, metric was black.

Ah HAH! You say that but the roll itself says it's set 711 which is the 11pc SAE set. I also told a buddy of mine I got them and he said his were in a black roll rather than the blue denim as well, he didn't say which set but being a pipefitter I'd wager SAE. I really couldn't care either way, it's just something I noticed. If I'd seen the Icon's before I ordered the Wrights I probably would have bought them, however having handled the Wrights I have no regrets whatsoever, they're totally worth it!

Cool! I still have my Mayline drafting table with Vemco left handed drafting machine from circa 1990. One day, when I have the space, I'd like to set it back up, even though I don't have much use for a drafting table any more.
