I have (2) of these impacts. Bought both new at the time. I worked 2 jobs where I needed tools, at one time. One slightly newer than the other.

One of them is very weak. These are now both of my "at home" guns. I have a newer S/O at work.

I gave the weak one to the S/O guy a few weeks ago, to be sent in and reconditioned. I've done this before with other of my air tools. They have a "flat fee" where they replace anything/anything that they find a problem with for that fee. Sometimes they have kept mine that I sent in and swapped me for a different, but same-model, reconditioned tool.

This time, I sent the weak gun in and got it back in the same condition as I sent it in, with a note that they did not do anything with it. Something about "they do not support this product" , along with that check-box was gobbledy-gook about "products not made by Snap on"

HUH? so I followed my S/O guy out to the truck... he called the Repair Center... I guess this gun was not "made by" Snap on? Made FOR them, to their specs. This gun was made in 2000. I see "rebuild kits" for them on Ebay but don't know what all I will need or what all comes in this "kit".
Never heard of S/O not servicing any of their air tools. This thing is heavily engraved with their logo.... not thinly disguised, as MAC has increasingly become. the S/O guy had a "good used" trade in of the same impact that he offered to sell me, if I cant get mine fixed why would I want another?

Anyone know of a place I can send this gun? Do I HAVE TO deal with Snap on?

A coworker has a PH2050 air hammer the dealer won't service saying it's obsolete.
But did offer to sell him a PH3050 for $450.

IIRC, they had stopped supporting IM6500's a couple years ago from what I remember. Not sure why. I would have a hard time believing it was not made by Snap-on though (or a subsidiary like Sioux).

I did notice a while back they had dropped the 2050 air hammer and PDR5A & PDR3A air drills as well, but they have identical twins of those tools listed under Blue point. Whether or not they are the same tools as far as parts go, I cant say.

This place may be of some help.

Take #35 out and throw it away; that way the gun can breath again. Replace air vanes #17.

Removing the foam block will make it extra noisy (which is really saying something for a Snap On gun). Just wash it in brake cleaner.

When you've got the vanes out, wash them in brake cleaner too, and thoroughly clean out the slots. Then oil the old vanes and reassemble.

The vanes can wear a LOT without any change in performance. But as the oil in their slots gums up, the vanes get stuck and don't fly out completely, leading to loss of power.

Snap-on still offers all the basic wear components like seals and vanes so short of needing something major like a rotor cylinder it's odd they didn't want to take your money and rebuild it.

If general clean/inspection don't fix it I would take the opportunity to upgrade to a modern quality air impact and not truck branded .
snapon air tools battery tools and electrical gear never a great buy and even if did do repair the charges are generally ridiculous as is the warranty on these type items for price you being charged .

This is odd. I sent in a PH50E with a cracked body and they called me back offering a new PH2050 which I accepted. This was not that long ago.

I thought it strange too we may just have a dealer licking his chops for a up-sell.

Dealer did him a favor, every dollar spent on that gun is wasted on not buying a newer better gun. I have the same impact collecting dust in my garage and regretted buying that gun since I bought it.

the 2 of tehse I have had for a long time, they WERE "the go to gun" when nobody else's worn out CP would break loose whatever they were working on.....
the tool guy did offer me 2 used guns, 1 newer and just back from a rebuild, and 1 just used, same as I have.. These are for at home not for my :work impact" anymore except maybe if my "work gun" went down, as a backup

ok I found a "rebuild kit" on Feebay for $44. about 1/3 the cost of if S/O would have repaired it for me (going on past impact wrench rebuilds) Worth it or no? I don't want just another used impact, I don't have the $$ for a new one and so far I haven't found a "non tool truck brand" impact that is worth anything. any pitfalls/issues rebuilding this myself?

Did they say what was actually wrong with it? Afaik many of the parts are NLA, but they still can sometimes fix them. As for it being "not made by Snap-on", that's BS. They most certainly were. Have you ever seen another brand gun that looks like it?

Honestly I wouldnt waste the money, that $44 can go towards a new impact and dont waste your money on a SO impact. You can buy a IR impact that will last forever and out perform your current guns for a decent price.

Good old snap-on, gotta love them.

I agree they're air tools are underpowered for their price.

Look into a nitrocat impact, bags of power and half the price.
