Thanks Smoke. This really was a great trade for both of us I think. We brought some 'A' list items to trade and even though we had to give something up we both got what we really needed to improve our collections.

Thanks MR X. I don't have a very complete P&C collection yet but keep pecking away at it and am getting a few hard to find items along the way. Ed.

Ed- I know you were excited to find that snappy box a year or 2 ago... I think you guys had a pretty fair trade dollar wise but you know me, I will trade snappy for plomb in a heartbeat! Glad you are both happy with your trades. Those are the best ones!

I believe very few of them have survived over the years... aluminum tools in the heavy equipment industry have probably seen many a cheater pipe on them and I think most were destroyed. I know they were also made in the proto la markings as well. Someone on here has a nos one. I will ask on the plomb thread.

You were right on the money! I love seeing it in the box.

FYI- for anyone interested in a p&c ratchet... there is one on eBay right now. I am watching it out of curiosity but am not bidding on it

FWIW, I picked up a P&C 6244 flex head speeder the other day from a cabinet shop going out of business. The speeder had been in use in that shop since it was bought new in the 1930s.

Backing it up here a little..so I've had this 20's hex drive P&C socket set for awhile and then Sunday, while checking out a Portland urban salvage style store I see this box sitting among a bunch of boxes and.... pretty sure I'm not going to find one in better condition anytime soon. Not sure if they show this style in any of the catalogs, (besides the ones in the pics), my other P&C wood boxes do not have the little socket platform, but the one shown has the remains of an old P&C label along with the tools so I'm confident it's original to the set.

My only find this weekend. A P&C DBE 1/2x9/16 in excellent shape.

Nice pick, Mr. X. Points for recognizing the box out of it's element!

Hmm. So Mechanics' Specialty Agency is the L.A. address on the label and they put a kit together in a wood box with P&C and Enderes tools in it? That's a neat combination. And a nice box to own. Enderes is still (or better said back) in business.

Nothing special, and I already posted these on the Plomb thread, but here's a pair of ignition wrenches for a thread bump... They are a matching pair in the sense that they are two wrenches from a set, having the same configuration (15* x 60* angles) and model number scheme, but they might actually be from slightly different years of production. See the two different "MADE IN U.S.A." markings.

One hint is that the there is a straight bar between the fraction numbers, rather than a slash. This would indicate earlier production.

Ampersands were formed differently over the years. There is no clear progression in their style, but this one seems early.

I am not expert enough to date it other than 1930's, and guess toward the earliest part of square drive production.

Yes I believe you are on the right path with the 30’s guess! The ampersand markings on the early ones are definitely light or cut off. I know during early production they were stamping the markings by hand . Don’t know if this is one of those but Mrx would know

I found some P&C at a small flea Saturday. The best item was a 1/4 drive spinner in like-new condition that has a few features that indicate to me that it is very late production.

The features include the square drive female handle insert being square instead of round and the part number incorporating a zero at the beginning to make it a 4-digit number.

Thought Y'all would be interested in meeting my friendly P&C Wrench named TONY, My guess was its was an off strike that maybe a factory worker got to stamp and take home?
