Better not be replacing Carlyle!
I wonder if this is extremely regional, at least to start? NAPA does a lot of region-specific stuff
Big sign in the window about a Craftsman Tool buyout. They have Craftsman at Ollie’s here.Big sign in the window about a Craftsman Tool buyout.
China sockets, wrenches, razor knives, beam torque wrenches, etc.. The only USA were screwdriver sets.
^It's for the holidays. There a blurb about it in the fourth quarter Real Deals Flyer.
I have bought some very nice tools carrying the NAPA label. Mostly closeout stuff off eBay and manufactured by different companies, both domestic and foreign.
What keeps me away from buying directly from NAPA is their inconsistency. My local NAPA doesn't even stock Carlyle, which I really like. And the counter guys are so typical of todays retail scenario. They know less about their tools than I do and I've never worked as a professional wrench.
I think NAPA is missing the boat by the frequent changes in tool lineup and lack of consistency from store to store. I believe there are still walk in customers looking for reliability in product and inventory.
I work in the oil and lube distribution market and I've never even HEARD of 10w60. Most everything here uses 0w20, 5w20, 5w30, 5w40 or 15w40.I go to a local NAPA since they carry 10W60 on the shelf.....have never seen a Carlyle tool in stock but have seen the Craftsman “sets”.
The Craftsman of Lowe’s seems to be mostly made in Taiwan.
But boy, they are proud of the product based on the prices and I was not so impressed.
