Look at the smaller of the two OTC pullers you bought with this item. It is made with the same design as the Snap-On puller these jaws fit.

Thanks, I see what you mean, there would be a double bar attached to those holes at the top.

So does the bolt piece with the big oblong hole belong with these jaws?

Found a mission era oak step stool at the thrift store for $5 today. First good find in a while. Looks to be home made. Wouldn't be surprised if the person that made it followed plans from a handyman magazine.

Thanks, I'll save that pic. I had the two big dark screws from that kit in my hand but didn't see a reason to buy them since I didn't know I had pieces that went with them.

I bet a lot of those other parts were in the grimy piles of tools I was going through.

txlonghorn - Thanks man. Measures 20 x 13.5 x 10. All it needs is a little oil soap. Even if it wasn't rickety and 90 years old, I wouldn't use it. The base is the same dimension as the top. I wonder how many people toppled it over the years.

Calling Jeff Moss! Where you at? Check this out.

I've stayed in the hotel (Marriott on 22nd and M in Foggy Bottom, Washington, D.C.) where this stands against the wall in the lobby (See Pic 1) many times before and I never bothered to look at it closely until this past weekend. I just assumed it was some large piece of artwork, vaguely vegetative. Turns out it's keys with handwritten tags (See Pic 2), one for every street in the city!

^ And you know they paid a local artist a fat commission to create that custom piece.

Clearly we're in the wrong line of work... ;)

Well, it was T-day weekend here (and everywhere for that matter) and thou our plans were dashed, I did spend Sat. antiquing with the wife. I didn't buy anything tool related (got a nice Pendleton) but I did see this:

I already have one, and so was not tempted. But it was in good shape, and only $36! If anyone in the Portland area is interested, just ask and I will let you know where it is.

Lugz, JeffMoss, tym - admittedly, a bit more ambitious than the piece daughter2 and I collaborated on several years ago. (Probably why I did not receive a fat commission...)

Haha! Great minds and all that, though!

More End of Year ramblings, staying with the art theme, and dipping a little further into my "Other" folder (photos of Flea market oddities, Left-Behinds, etc...)..., here is some tool-related Folk Art (see Pic 1 & 2) and a Snapple Cap Chair (see Pic 3).

Late posting, as I have been busy lately.

The old car swap meet last month was nice. I got to see bmwrd0, smokeshow, and ORC. I spent a lot of time with an old friend who has been into old cars forever. I found a few things that the other GJ members left behind:

Round dish has mixed old 3/8 and 1/2 drive sockets, as well as many 1/2 hex drive sockets.

Mixed sockets in the carry tray are mixed brands. Almost all are good quality, and most vintage. Highlights are:
P&C 1-3/16, 1-1/4 and 13/16 deep 1/2 dr. 12-point
Bonney A21 and D34
Bog 1-1/8 6-point

Plomb 5449 pebble 1/2 drive ratchet
Plomb/Proto dual-marked 1/2 combo
KD #283 and #291 Brake Bleeder DBE's

A battery master disconnect switch for heavy equipment

The monthly flea market was pretty slow Sunday. Threat of ice and snow, plus the hangover of Thanksgiving weekend contributed to keeping people away. I found a few things.

Wardmaster (Barcalo) "scoop" 7/8 combo
Hinsdale 1/2 drive 7/16 12-point socket
4-way T-wrench with square openings of 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, and 3/8. I think it is for welding tanks.
=Craftsman= feeler gauge
Copper rivet set Krauter 350-6
Snap-On diamond chisel 1/8" PPC-19A
Williams P-4 1/8" pin punch
P&C 21 punch
Curved brake spoon, unmarked
General calipers
Westcraft Spark Plug Tool with brush, file gap setters, and feeler gauges

Some pawn shop finds. They had a sale on their tools, many at 1/2 off. $30 for this Matco ball joint press. It’s an OTC made in USA model.

Also found an unmarked 1/4” SK extension, and long Snap On electronics screwdriver. Family of three now.

Do you recall if the handle was leather or steel? Here is the one I got from Honza last year. I probably would have left the one in Portland behind too but I have a weakness for wartime S-K!

I'm a day behind in posting my Wednesday find.....

I've been wanting to get into some more DeWalt 20V stuff since one of my sons got me a brushless 1/2" driver drill (w/charger & 2 batteries) last year for Christmas
20191204_141927.jpg

I found a guy selling a bunch of newer DeWalt stuff and I picked up a 6 1/2" #DCS391 circular saw and a few 20V batteries and a charger for $80
20191204_141224.jpg

The saw is in like new condition and it has a new Bauer (harbor freight) carbide tip saw blade installed
20191204_141236.jpg 20191204_141335.jpg

The batteries are:
3 - 20V x 1.5Ah
1 - 20V x 2.0Ah (yellow one)
1 - 20V x 3.0Ah
and another 20V charger
20191204_141248.jpg

I caught this guy late in the afternoon when he was almost packed up and ready to leave, so I didn't see what other 20V stuff he had but he said he'd be back next week.....I'll have to see what kind of deal I can get on a 20V cordless jigsaw....

The Winter Curve Effect is starting to set in at my flea market - as the mercury drops, so does the overall number of vendors and buyers, which in turn reduces the amount of time it takes me to go through it! :)

GMTK-spec 10" smooth flat file (Kearney & Foot), 1-1/16" 1/2-inch drive socket (Wright, 1943 date code), and a 4" crescent-type adjustable (JPD-made Proto LA).

Small sale about an hour away this morning. Sockets sets; 3/8dr SK deep socket set in a box, almost two 3/8dr Williams deep socket sets, 1/2dr Williams short socket set, Proto impact socket set in tray, and almost a Snap-on 3/8dr deep socket set.

Ratchets; 1/2dr SK, 3/8dr Easco RHFT, two Williams 3/8dr Superratchets and a 1/4dr Williams. Some kind of 1/4dr hand driver with a small set of Sms in the handle. A Bosch 12v Impact Driver.

Lugz, how do you ID that file as GMTK? I have a large set of files in an OD tool roll, pretty sure they are army surplus.

I carry my own GMTK guide (See Pics) in my flea market bag! :)

Honestly, I don't really need the guide for most of the GMTK tools anymore, but the files are actually one of the harder things for me to remember because of the diversity in lengths and cuts across the types..

- Flat, Smooth cut, 10"
- Half Round, Smooth cut, 6"
- Round, ******* cut, 8"
- Three-Square, ******* cut, 8"

But your roll-up was probably part of a bigger set, maybe for Armorers, not the GMTK, and might have a completely different assortment of files in it. I'll poke around and see what I can find. But the SNL catalog for files is one of the manuals on my 'Needs' list.

I carry that same list, but rarely consult it anymore.
We made up for a non-productive Thanksgiving weekend by hitting three sales today and number two and three more than compensated for any disappointment from last week.
The first sale was kind of a bust although I found a Powr-Kraft pipe wrench that I didn’t have. I think it was made by Erie. The second sale had a surprising amount of the tools I look for and I would have been satisfied with those two sales for the day. We had one more sale written down so when we arrived I asked about tools and the guy said he hadn’t put any out your but that I could look through his late father’s toolbox. It was an old Snap-on top and middle box which he wasn’t interested in selling but it was loaded and I helped myself. Plenty of well used Snap-On, some Plomb, very early Thorsen and S-K.

Nice early Thorsen finds.

Thanks, guys! Even though I have quite a few early Thorsen tools with the plain steel finish, these are my first with the really early TT in a circle logo.

Here's a new one for me.

Got up early this morning to hit an estate sale in town, got my daughter dressed to go with me too! We get in the truck and get to the sale about 7:40am and a lady is standing in the yard and I see a car leaving the driveway. I got out of the truck and the lady said "somebody bought everything in the house this morning!"

All I can do is just look at the lady I a dumbfounded way. I'm currently sitting in the truck waiting to see if anyone does come to sale or not.

Weather here hasn't been affecting my estate/GS finds, even over the holiday.

Last weekend picked up:
A pair of Snap-on YA874 2-ton jackstands (4 ton pair)
A YA700 USA 2 1/2 ton jack
and a Snap-on 1750 Wilton vise

All at the same sale. $90 total.

Just a follow up. I rescued this Wagner ashtray back in August.

It won’t be used for smoking so long as it’s in my possession, but I wanted to show how good it came out after a week forgotten in the Evaporust. No before pic of the inside where it was really bad. It it was solid orange and lumps of rust.

Also this Larcoloy wrench that was its soaking partner. I thought it was a goner too. It was rust covered and wouldn’t budge. The Evaporust completely freed up the mechanism and worked perfect upon removal from the soak!
