It is a kit, its whats referred to as a Mustang II IFS (independent front suspension) It called that because the basic design is a copy of the front suspension setup Ford used in the Mustang II. In the 80s it was pretty common for guys to cut the front crossmembers out of Mustang II's and graft them onto frames to give them ifs. Aftermarket companies noticed and started putting out kits. There are many variations from stamped steel control arms on a coil spring, to tubular control arms on coilovers or air bags. It gives you a lot of ride height adjustability, rack & pinion steering and disc brakes, plus they ride nice. The particular kit I used is from Speedway Motors.

I'd like to add to what Joe has stated and can confirm everything as I have done OE MII and aftermarket kits. The MII kits can be bought in various widths to accommodate everything from smaller cars up to full size cars. Very versatile suspension package and doesn't handle to bad either. Of course it'll never handle like a OE Vette.

A quick post to show off this super clean porcelain double sided Sinclair credit card sign I just picked up. Its dated 11-58 so it would have been close to the end of the timeframe Sinclair used that sign. I was pretty excited to get it.

Curiosity got the best of me and I had to set a fender on the F1 to see how its going to sit. The rear needs to come down a couple more inches, but I'm fairly confident the weight of the wrecker boom will take care of that.

Nice find on sign.
Back needs to sit lower? I’m thinking 70’s air shocks and some N50-15s. Lol.

Nice Sinclair sign. Why is it called a “restroom sign?”

Ha ha...thats a good question. I bought a restroom cleanliness sign too, but didn't upload pics of it . Guess I had that one on my mind when I quickly made that post.

I had a local gentleman drop off a special package at the station yesterday morning. Inside was a 1945 calendar from the station. They even had it professionally framed. How cool is that.

I was hoping for a few inches of snow before the Christmas decorations get taken down, but it looks like a light dusting will be the most we get.

Hey Joe,

What is with the jack posts on the beam before the bay where the Ford truck is? Do you have some sag there? Maybe putting in laminated engineered beam is in order?

The truck and sign look great. If you put the sign outside, give it a good coat of car wax.

I have got to get to your place someday.....so many amazing memory tributes. How thoughtful on the calendar too!

Page 22 post 440 talks about that opening. It is not original to the building.

Ahhh OK. I remember the bit about the water line, I guess I forgot about the opening detail. 103 pages, wowser.....lots of content now when you think all the way back when you first acquired the building....time flies.

I know its crazy to me...I never anticipated the thread would take off the way it did. It's been a neat experience for me. I've lost count the number of times people mention seeing it on GJ outside of GJ.

Could you let me know the metal wall paneling product you used in your garage? Thanks.

Noticed by chance that someone recently added the station to the Roadside America directory. Roadside America is a website dedicated to offbeat roadside attractions. The pictures were taken sometime after the 4th of July.(thats when I put up the Sinclair sign above the service bay)

Been a minute since I've been on here. I bought an early 50s Porto-Power tool cart at an auction yesterday I thought some may enjoy seeing. Full restore is planned. I do have both side badges, they were removed, but included in the sale.

A new outside display piece for this spring. I made the stand a couple weeks ago.

Been busy with the '51. Chassis and drivetrain painted and installed. Just getting started on wiring. Lots of progress, but still a long way to go.

North Idaho... almost Canada!
Nice score at the auction! That will be a nice piece! And, nice work on the Quaker State sign... will you put that outside?
You're making good progress on the truck as well... you've definitely been staying busy this winter!

Hey Joe. This is my first comment in your thread, though I read through the entirety of it (and part twice) some months ago, and have since been keeping up.

I had a tremendous amount to say, but I just couldn't. I couldn't formulate words to match how I truly felt. Shock and awe I guess. I'll let the others speak to where I fall short.

So just thank you. For everything. For preserving this piece of history, for adding value to your town, state, and country and for presenting all your hard work to the world, free of charge.

You're an amazing human being sir.

That Porto Power station is awesome. Will you also try to obtain the tools themselves?

Yes, it is an outside piece, at least part of the year. Spring, summer & fall.

Thank you, just doing what I enjoy.

No I'm not, plan to use it as a stand to display other items. The thought crossed my mind to put a nice wood top in it and use it as an end table in my living room.....but more than likely it'll end up in the station office.

A wedding showcase/ bridal show was held yesterday at the Hotel and LaPoste (former 1904 post office turned event space) to promote Perry as a wedding destination. Local vendors peddled their services and each space was setup to promote the venues. Lots of the downtown store fronts were wedding theme decorated. Dino felt the need to break out his best tuxedo t-shirt for the event. He cleaned up pretty good for a guy that hangs out at a gas station all the time.

I also set the '53 out for the day with a "Just Married" sign in the back window and tin cans tied to the bumper.
