My baseless suspicion is that one of the Sears bigwigs has some kind of connection to one of the St. Jude bigwigs - such as being in the same country club, same alumni association, whatever - by which they could say "won't happen again, ol' chap, give us one more chance" with more sway than some other random company teetering on the verge of collapse would have. (Not intended as anything negative about St. Jude itself, just a general 'fact of life' of how things tend to work for the upper strata of society - handshakes on the golf course and such.)

Totally agree with you, not baseless imho. I can see that in a business scenario (give me a bigger discount/sweeter deal, and we will partner with with you again) but for a non-profit, sheesh...

I am willing to bet there are other companies that St Jude can partner with and make more $. Sears footprint is getting smaller, and the entire brand name is becoming less relevant by the day. There is really no upside here for St Jude or any non-profit who wants to partner with Sears.

What does it cost St Jude to partner with Sears? I mean, how much of their own money are they investing to collecting the donations from Sears customers?

Kmart collected $100 million for St Jude over a decade, but what did it cost St Jude to get that $100 million?

Also note, there many other places collecting donations for St Jude. I once got bombarded several times in one day...at the Kmart, at the grocery store, picking up a pizza.

Yeah, I think these big charities are looking for as many partners as they can get, within certain parameters of what kinds of businesses they don't mind being associated with. OldSears might have actually cost them some money on top of the unreceived amount, though, since St. Jude probably had to pay some lawyers to deal with the bankruptcy court. The charity definitely benefited overall from all those millions in years past, but as S/K stores keep disappearing, the future potential donations also keep shrinking.

$.40 helped get my garage door opener to almost free

Congrats.

Looks like the last of the blowout pricing has finally come to an end, yesterday or today. Everything left on my wish list that had been at blowout pricing is either back to more-normal sale pricing that no longer ends in $0.94, or full price.

At least my store being available for online pickup still hasn't been shut off, though I was able to buy a few "fixture" memorabilia items today so it is definitely in full liquidation mode. Order pickup guy said they are running behind on shutting it off, but that will probably happen in about a week. I'm still hoping to get in one more order before then. I won a $1 earlier today, but still don't have enough for anything on my list yet, since the prices went up.

I did a pretty large order of the blowout stuff before they raised the prices and the order glitched so after an hour on the phone with them they replaced the order, discounted it, and then shipped it for free since half of it had already been shipped and was due to arrive Wednesday. Mostly oddball stuff for my dad, uncle, brother in law, and grandpa for Christmas. Even the non closing store had been wiped out of most of the blowout stuff not long after the sale started.

Thankfully the garage door opener didn’t present that issues. My one is 11 years old, the chain is kinda stretched out, and once I start removing links and such it’s probably only a matter of time. So I wanted a spare. The 100 series one they have cheap appears to be the same vendor they used back in 2008 for the 1/2hp chain drive, so when the current one goes it should be a really fast bolt up swap.

That said some of the stuff that was blowout showing out of stock is now apparently back in stock at normal prices... so either they weren’t getting rid of it, didn’t get rid of it, switched vendors or something (or due to inventory shortages were holding it until closer to Christmas to not completely short the month of December in sales).

All the current Craftsman garage door openers are Chamberlain. I'm not sure about a decade ago, but haven't seen mention of any other recent GDO companies, so it's most likely the same.

I'm not sure what to make of Sears's inventory fluctuations anymore. There are some items that came back in stock, but many others are gone for good, and you never know which way it'll go till it's too late. And every now and then, something that had seemed gone reappears months/years later.

Maybe the vendor didn’t change but designs did, or the model it’s based off of did. Whatever the case the 100 series is the exact same bolt spots and complete identical in spacing and pattern to the 2008 era one, the sideways facing lights models are slightly different. I’m really not concerned with who makes it it’s not like there are hundreds of garage door opener companies. It just works out well so once the current one croaks I can probably throw it up in next to no time because of it.

Their inventory and website issues make no sense anymore, and you can’t really tell what’s a website glitch or what’s lack of inventory. Someone over on slickdeals is trying to buy the a few 3 piece prybar sets and it’s saying for him they need a nominal shipping charge but if I try and order them it says free shipping. Other than possibly geographical location there is no reason for it.

One weird stock issue was the 8” pliers I had as part of a big order. They were in stock, at $5.94 or whatever it was, the order didn’t process properly after I waited for the supposed email about the issue which never arrived it had gone unavailable and by the time I got to contacting them today it showed in stock again, so they replaced the order and those already have tracking go figure, far faster than usual too since it seems you usually don’t get tracking less than an hour later on a shipped item. One thing I noticed though is none of the stuff could ship to store from that stuff (former blowout stuff).

As I understand it, that means the warehouses have run out of those items, and only some random local stores around the country still have any. Stores won't ship to other stores for customer pickups, AFAIK (but stores are sometimes ordered by corporate to ship large quantities of inventory to a different store where they think it will sell better).

For anyone who uses the SYW PS app, check your messages. I received one saying I'd get $5 in points if I told my PS my favorite holiday movie, which I did, and I did.

I included a screenshot of the message to the PS.

Sweet. I don't seem to have gotten that message, probably because the PS app randomly disconnected me from my PS aaagain, but I reconnected to the same one I'd last had, and sent her a message asking if I can get in on the movie points.

PS: Midnight Madness sale coming in an hour, extra 15% off.
Edit: Lousy misleading text... it turns out to actually be only "Extra 10% off fitness, sporting goods, home, auto products, batteries, tires, select Kenmore Elite major appliances & select Tools. Extra 15% off fine jewelry, watches, clothing & shoes." And none of my recent purchases or the things still on my wish list seem to be participating. :(

@Hexen you are killing it here

Unfortunately I didn't have a repeat performance on Fri. ;) $0.75 total, could've been worse. After losing every spin in about the first two-thirds of the games, I was on the verge of giving up for the night when things improved a bit.

Saturday expected game schedule:
1-7pm CT tiny bonus in app
2-3pm CT $4 WW Xtra
7-8pm CT $5 WW Xtra

I hate when that happens. I literally won a dollar when is was 95% done on the $1.85 run.

If you still have a non-closing local Sears, text CHEER to 73277 for a $10 off $25+ in-store-only coupon, ends today 12/15. Kmart is also doing this - text CHEER to 56278 for $5 off $15+ in-store-only.

$0.60 Sun. Then spent everything on a shopvac hose and a seal puller. They still haven't shut off my store pickup option yet, so this is another 'maybe my last ship-to-store order, or maybe not'.

Glad to see you still can ship to store Hexen! Worth still playing if you have the chance to pull in something free that you might use.

$0.75 Mon.

And I finally finished my Sears Craftsman Modern Manufacturers Reference List. Took a lot more work than I'd expected when I started this about a month ago, especially getting through that massive leaked PDF. Now I need to catch up on the Sears news/discussion I've been neglecting for the past week or so. I'll post the list thread link in the deals thread when I'm ready to tackle the catching-up that reloading that thread will lead to; going to get some sleep first.

Finally some good luck again, won the $3 this morning. :D

My store is STILL accepting orders, too. Hope that keeps going on till my next expiration near the end of the month.

Too many other demands on my time the past few days, maybe I'll be able to deal with all the Sears news stuff this weekend.
