7/16 OSB over kraft faced insulation?

Hello everyone.

I currently have kraft faced insulation in my ceiling of my detached garage. I am wanting to install 7/16 OSB over that to help with keeping it from falling and humidity control. Ive read that OSB is considered a Class 1 barrier. Would you recommend cutting the kraft paper and installing an vapor barrier OR just installing the OSB over the kraft paper.

I plan on staggering the sheet when possible. 2x6 running 24" on center.

there's always discussion on detached garage & vapour barrier. some say it's not needed, others say yes .
I would just put up the osb as is, leave the faced batts as is

Face of insulation is a vapor barrier. I also do thick mil plastic to reduce air movement.
Will a 6 foot span sag at all with that ply? Wonder if adding some strapping you can go to thinner and reduce weight

I'd put the OSB right over the Kraft paper insulation. However, knowing what I know now, I'd use ribbed metal siding instead of the OSB.

My OSB went right over the paper face.
But I have 2 inches of vented air space between the top of the insulation and the underside if the roof sheathing.
The idea is that the space will vent any moisture that get through the paper.

I have about 1 1/2 inches on the top side of my insulation. I used to have sky lights in my garage but since then had a new metal roof installed. My humidity level is normally in the upper 40's-50's .Today it was 76 but its been raining. I plan on filling in the spots (old skylights) with a baffle and some insulation, and installing OSB. I have some condensation spots on my kraft faced paper due to the breaks in insulation.

Leave insulation as is and install OSB.

Same, how mine is. Also be sure and caulk the seams between the panels and at the walls to stop air movement. Makes a big difference.

Thanks Everyone. I shall give this project a try I may have to take some leave from work. Plan on renting a scissor lift and a drywall lift to get this knocked out. Thanks everyone

Why not drywall? Achieves the same thing, costs less, creates a fire barrier and won't soak up all your light.
