Previous owner of my house painted over the brick and mantle w/ oil based gloss paint. Wish I could go back in time and stop him/her from doing it. I much prefer the brick, and there is no going back now....tried removing it manually and with chemicals, but the brick is the highly figured brick with a lot of holes/defects and the paint just wouldn't come out..

I heard that before and I would want to be absolutely be certain that you really really want to paint it.

Wide Wood trim comes to mind or how about drywalling over the sides
and or the top to make it look less massive.

Is the whole brick functional or is there ornamental parts you could remove so you could drywall over it and its flat with the existing drywall?

Okay, basement bathroom. This wall's the wildest. 1" out top to bottom, plus in and out. I couldn't see any easy way to straighten this up for tile. I fiddle farted around with it for a while and realized I that needed to cover both planes.
Luckily , I had some 1" blk. laying around.

Shower wall came out good. I'm happy with it. I ended up laying out a grid ,snapped a line every 12". I have some play on my in and out which I can take out with a sander. Sorry about the pic with the level . I was standing one foot with my knee on the level , my one hand on the upper part , my other on my phone ( that should have been the pic lol).

Major development on lighting. Making the rounds at my favorite stops, I happened across this pendant at that Habitat Recycle store(can't remember the name, it's something like) . I was buying some frames and had been looking for a light for quite some time. I gave it the once over , left it and bought some frames.
After loading the frames in the Passatt, I did a quick Google search.
Goddamn $700.00 fixture ! I gingerly trotted back in and grabbed it.
The girl behind the counter said: Weren't you just in here ?
I said : yes
She gave me an additional $10.00 off.
Total price : $40.00

some progress

Damn--I do like a nicely organized wall field! Keep up the good work!

Habitat Restore--I've bought a fair amount, and donated a fair amount to them. Money funds their own construction projects. Our Habitat chapter wants to open one, but we need to be a little larger (with a little more cash) before we would get the go-ahead.

Okay, basement bathroom. This wall's the wildest. 1" out top to bottom, plus in and out.

When my son re-did his basement bathroom he hired a tile guy for the floor. He did a nice job but did not bother to level the floor first. When we set the toilet, it was a hobby horse !

Pull the toilet. Clean the wax off of the base and the flange. New ring and plastic shims. Good 1/2+" out on one side. Lots of caulk in the space.

Great machine to have around, since I do not care for CSST, beats threading black pipe with a ratchet threader. Mine came from a closed Holly Sugar facility.

As to lighting fixtures prices they are crazy stupid, got this one as a throwaway & hung it in my shop for the hell of it. https://www.lightingdirect.com/troy...ial-linear-chandelier-with-wire-cage/p2344683

Used to be over $1000 bucks there for that fixture.

That 535 came out of a hardware store in Novato, Ca. that had closed. I checked the serial number with Ridgid and they said it was manu. sometime in 1952. I love that thing.

Nice fixture, by the way.

Novato? Marin County is where dialing 911 will get you the Porsche mechanic. :lol_hitti
