An old friend who I have not seen for several years dropped by for a visit and shop tour.
He collects and restores antique scales. I had two that were trade-ins on toolboxes. I gave them to my friend. He got something of interest to him and I made some space. One was a counter Fairbanks platform scale.

Sanded some of my interior window casing. Hopefully stain it tomorrow. Also need to track down some backband to finish it. So far I've only been able to find the 3/4" wide version. Looks thin and weak compared to the 1 1/8 backband in the rest of the house.

Finally had to put a muffler on my Mountaineer. I quite enjoyed the sounds of a 302 with equal length headers and a pair of empty cats. But after about a year and a half of running that way I finally got a warning about it. It is what it is I guess. I forgot how much even a 40 series flowmaster will quiet it down.

Where did you pick that up? I am planning to expand my bench grinder station to have two grinders on it. One will be grinding stones, other will be wire wheel and a belt grinder like this.

I had about $450 in free Amazon credits, so I bought myself something I had been wanting. I don’t have room for big tools, so this should work out pretty well.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Swapped out my Jeeps factory headlights for a set of KC Hilites Gravity Pros.

Didn’t get a chance yet to try them out, had a battery go dead in my dual battery group, so I pulled both, and am now waiting for my replacement batteries to arrive. Supposed to be here Monday.

Thanks!

Mine is a 2013 2-door Rubi.

I didn’t choose the color. I was saving up my money to buy a new Jeep, when My old Jeep took a dirt nap on me while I was working 800miles from home. The dealership next door to my hotel had this Jeep sitting on the lot. It was the only new 2-door manual transmission Rubicon within 500 miles of me, so I had my old Jeep towed to the service lot, made the deal and drove this one home the next day.

I wasn’t sure about the color at first, I wanted a white one, but it grew on me, and I love it. There are exceedingly few Dine Jeeps in my area, and that makes me very happy. I don’t plan on ever getting rid of it. Ever.

I’ve done a ton of work to it. She’s not the biggest Jeep around, but she’s mine.

Continuing with the rearranging the location of the shop equipment. Also still sorting thru stuff to 'keep, donate or junk'.

Bolted the two previously separated 42" L x 46" H x 12" D steel shelving units together making for one continuous 7 Ft long unit. Sometime this week I'll top them with a 7' long piece of 3/4 ply or smooth pine board.

In between projects so cleaned work surfaces, waxed bench top and TS, swept the floor.

Mostly little stuff:
  • Removed the rear bumper from the 4x4 Toy van and discovered the thing is NOT going to be an easy build a receiver hitch for
  • decided I need a downturn for the new muffler to avoid the space the receiver hitch will land.
  • I did weld an extension in the inlet side so I can cut off the scabbed up junk off the tail pipe.
  • Made a plate to mount the GPS so its not bouncing out of the ashtray its been living in
  • Cut material for the side splash of the new MBR Bath vanity top
  • Cleaned and re-stored some camp gear and re-supplied what I ate last weekend

I ran out of Argon, almost finished building a 3" stainless exhaust for the free car I got a few months back. The car is coming together, a few more months until my local dragstrip opens back up.

Finally finished organizing one side of one of my garages.

I plan on building some more shelves after I finish sheeting in this one wall, but my project list is stupid long, and we are getting ready to have our second bathroom remodeled, and need space to store materials.

The garage is a long story. I plan on starting a garage build thread, to talk about everything I’ve done so far, and what is left to do, and what I actually get done along the way, and why the studs were originally 48in apart, but haven’t had time yet.

Spring oil change and grease for my Dakota. Not remarkable except I got to use this

which made the job significantly easier. If you use a grease gun regularly, highly recommended addition.

Got the 77 Z28 up on jackstands to do spring maintenance. Starting with header gaskets. Buddy talked me in to using remflex gaskets. No slot to drop them in so i had to unbolt the headers. that turned into dropping the exhaust. Stainless headers & exhaust are too heavy to muscle around. ugh, i'm too old for this ****. so much for an easy job.

I might have to look into one of those.

Finished some hack pipe railing for stairs (stairs are just for occasional access).

Finished up over 325' of copper piping for my air compressor. Turning on the compressor for the first time found a leak in the main tube going from the compressor to the tank so had to make another one as the old one I couldn't get the brass washers off. Also identified three leaks in my soldering job I need to fix. Hoping to get it all finished up tonight.

I had a set of stairs like those going up to the top of my garage at one point. Looks weird as hell but they worked really well for steep inclines. I think that style originated from boats if i'm not mistaken?

You owe me a new keyboard.

+1 on that. :bounce:

I put the black pipe railing in because there was no way to safely go up and down with just the ones that came with the kit...the black pipe was a quick and easy temp fix. Eventually there will be a door on the side wall going to a outside deck and that will be the primary way to get to the second floor (it will be my stained glass studio).

Tracked down the leak in the new Borgeson power steering conversion on my '66 Charger. One more project off the list!

I gave the Racing Green classic Mini a bath - I have a car show to go to tomorrow, the cars will be parked inside a local BMW/MINI store for the weekend, so I needed to set it up so I could tow it down instead of drive it - that way I have a ride home!

I backed it back into the garage so I could install the tow rig and wiring for the lightbar in the back window, then I backed the tow car up to the door....tomorrow all I need to do is roll the classic forward to hook it onto the hitch ball, then hook up the chains and lightbar, and I'm rollin!
