I have a slightly less advanced way of remembering everybody's real name on here.

I just come over to this thread and look for the last time Bob replied to them.

:bounce:

Mat, that is your name isn't it?:lol_hitti

I suffer from the same.

Now Bob, I'm happy to hear you are doing better:bowdown:. We need to hang on to all of our friends here on the GJ. We've already lost too many. I for one will do my best to stay around to bother as many of you as I can.:bounce:

To remember GJ Member names I have a Word file with screen name, real name, spouse name and location. I also use Lotus Organizer to keep track of GJ Member birthdays and anniversaries.

Having seen the inside of your garage cabinets, this totally checks out. My mental defect is that I could NEVER be as organized as you. I would be prevented as if by force field! My projects go like this:

1.) Spend an hour cleaning up after the last project (or the last five projects if it's gotten dire).

2.) Spend three hours finding the missing tool. Or try finding the missing tool.

3a.) If tool is found, spend an hour completing project.
3b.) If tool is not found, head to the hardware store to replace tool.

Lotus Organizer to remember names!? Nope! I'd have an allergic reaction or something the second the software loaded.

Pi_guy, I think I was the opposite. I looked like a cripple when I wore hockey skates or skied on my sticks with leather straps. Switched to figure skates and it was better but still a lot of fun to watch. Skating was cheap so we went to the local frozen lake and spent hours there. Never had the money to outfit myself with ski gear, let alone the wife and kids. Really crushed me when I discovered you had to pay to get to the top of the mountain because my childhood skiing was in empty hay fields -- you had to work hard to get to the top and even harder to stay upright all the way to the bottom. If you fell, the skis or at least one of them would come off and finish the ride without you.

It is sad so many snowflakes are getting this trial by fire. What in the world are they going to whine about when the stores are out of everything in their size?

Different world now, my ski boot have a high percentage of carbon fiber. My ice skates are carbon fiber boots with padding in side. Both are difficult to get on, but the support I get. I have a 9.5 shoe and wear a 8 skate in Carbon Fiber but was a 7 or a 7.5 when skates had kangaroo leather insides.
Ski tech has changed there is radius and radical side cut which has changed how you ski you ride the edges very much like your ice skating. Ski sizing has changed too, I have from 155 to 212 lengths of skis. The 212's and 195 are Downhill and Super G skis radius 30 meters, the 171, 174 and 181 are used for Giant slalom GS the radius is 20meters. The GS skis don't start to work until your doing 30 and the 181 can be a real chore in lift lines.
The 155, 165 and 171 are slalom skis and radius is 12 to 17 and are much easier to work in crowds, 90% of the time if I am not racing I am on 165's.

At my first masters race at Sunday River my binding run away stop broke the ski shot down the mountain thought it was going to kill somebody. Took me a 1/2 an hour to find it. One lesson was spares could not fix binding and settled on Atomic skis and binding so I could swap between skis. So at this point in my life I have spares from pole baskets to extra four pairs of identical boots. I had worn out the liners in my boots so bought 4 pairs for 1/2 the cost of what I paid for my racing boots. I figure if I got 5 years out of the two liners I bought with boots I should get ten years out of the four.
These boots are weird you lace liners to feet then slip into boot shell and they have to be machined to fit binding as they are World Cup boots and you set the Cant of the boot by how you machine the base.

I hit various ski hill during the season and I would say 75% of them never check my lift ticket, they will check all the skiers around me but not me. baffles me.

First time out at Mt Hood for the July race on the first lift carrying two pairs of skis so you could not put the bar down. As I begin my ride to the snowfield there are piles of rocks shaped into crosses. When I get out of the second lift there was a sign.

If you leave the patrolled area rescue may not be possible your heirs will be responsible for the cost of recovery.

6.) Fill up truck at gas station.
7.) Spill lunch you picked up, go to car wash.
8.) Clean up mess.
9.) Find things you lost under seat.
10.) Wife texts to get three other things while you are out.
11.) Get home after dark
12.) What the heck was I doing anyway...

Bobby, my keyboard did the same thing with the letter N. I cured the problem by buying a new keyboard. I know Vladimir (Vieux) could fix it quickly but the time and shipping would be a deal breaker. I always have a spare keyboard but they are wired and so old they don't have the
attachment.php
key on them.
I daily use an old IBM PC Keyboard and have to use a DIN to PS/2 converter as well as a PS/2 to USB converter to get them to work on my new laptop. Although the docking station has a PS/2 port it didn't like it so I had to go with one more layer of adapters :lol_hitti

It's good to hear you are feeling better !!!!!

I was recently told a joke that instantly made me think of you Bob.

A guy walks into a diner and sees the fry cook, with one arm, making hamburger patties by smashing meat under his armpit...

The guy complains to his waiter that using his armpit to make burger patties is the grossest thing a fry cook could ever do to prepare food.

The waiter responds, “I assure you it’s not. In the morning he makes donuts.”

Well, stop trying to use them both at the same time.
Doing what exactly? :headscrat Is it just my 'sic' mind! :headscrat

Hand sanitzer stat..........
Uncle Willie and Simon, one mouse (right side) is on the pull-out drawer next to the keyboard and I automatically grab it when I'm using the keyboard and the 32-inch monitor. When I am using Paint Shop Pro on the 24-inch monitor to my left, I use the mouse under that monitor. It isn't as confusing as it sounds because they both control one cursor that moves across both screens.
Hi Bob, I just wanted to check and pass on some warm thoughts! Best of luck with feeling better and keep up the positive vibes and humour!
Sean, thanks so much for the kind words and for taking the time to stop by. I am absolutely loving the progress on the new place and it's nice to see the MoreDoor Buick getting some use. What exactly are you feeding the boys? Magic Beans? They are growing up real fast.

Dan, you're in the other boat tied to mine. You're in the SS Compromised Immune System frigate and I'm in the Old Folks Lifeboat. Take real good care of yourself and stay away from stupid people. Actually stay away from everyone because I, for one, really like your harassment.
D@n good to he@r from you. Bobby It sure h@s been quiet on my thre@d.
Bobby, thanks for stopping by and I would comment on your thread but I'm afraid your keyboard virus might be contagious.

Tom, I blame all my marginal organizing on the GJ. Before I came here I had no idea there was such a thing as a plier drawer. This is one drawer in my tool box when I got here. All my clamps in one place accompanied by a 1/2-inch hammer drill. Actually not that much better now but I found another drawer for the drill (just not sure where that drawer is).

My projects have a similar process but different outcome.

  1. Spend five hours cleaning up so I can find a flat surface to begin a critical, do-or-die project.
  2. Spend three hours finding the one tool needed to start the critical do-or-die project.
  3. Discover a fun abandoned project that doesn't need to be done at the moment and dedicate the remaining daylight to it.
  4. Retire to the house to hear "Did you finish that do-or-die project?"

Pi_guy, it doesn't matter what your passion is, there is always a way to turn your large fortune into a small fortune following it. My five-year old Cadillac CTS-V cost more than my first house. Actually it cost more than what I sold that house for after 9 years of constant upgrades and enhancements.

We get that same kind of warning when there's a hurricane evacuation order. The police stop by and ask the reluctant homeowners for the phone number of their next of kin or the name of their preferred funeral home.

Uncle Willie, are you saying you are allowed out out of the house? Lucky for me Liane doesn't have or want a phone of any kind so all she asks is whether or not I've milked the dog 'cause she hates black coffee.

Mike, I actually loved those old keyboards and they were basically bulletproof. The originals PC keyboards were my nemesis.

Numerous times each day the PC would lock up and the only cure was the Alt-Ctrl-Del reboot. With the Alt and Ctrl key on the far left and the Del key on the far right I had two choices:

  1. Use the tip of the hook from my left side to hold down the Del key on the right while I crossed over with my right hand to press the Alt and Del keys on the left side at the same time OR
  2. Use my right hand to hold down the Alt and Del keys and cross my arm with my head to hold the Del key down with my nose.
I chose option 2 and was greeted with big smiles and a lot of ribbing about my prayers to the PC Gods. That lasted for about four years until they came out with the model M keyboard, probably the one you are using. It had Alt and Ctrl keys on both sides of the keyboard so I could use the ones right within easy reach of the Del key. You weren't the only one with a kluge of adapters.

I feel fortunate to have heard that one before. It was still a close call. Thank goodness I'm sitting in an absorbent chair or I'd be blaming the dog for another puddle. I'll just hang these shorts in the garage with the other wet ones.
Hey, you know this routine, too, huh!?

I wasn't drinking any milk, yet some still came out of my nose...
Tom, milk would have been nice.

At one Train Party a friend, knowing the long-standing joke, asked me how I made the hamburger patties. I told him "The usual way... would you like yours on a bagel?"

Since I am considered essential I am allowed to leave. Since Steph is preggers she is not.

Hi Bob. I’d look at your thread and say what is this young fella smiling about. You are just smiling about life in general and spirit that you put into it.
I’d see your thread and go good grief how do you chew through all those entries. Most of the time I read threads from end to end and then decide on a comment. Have to admit I didn’t read it all but gave it a good try. Hit every page some with more vigour than others. The reason I took on this gargantuan task is your thread on how lucky you are. Good thread.
I’m glad you are feeling better and will try to keep up with you when not farting around in my own garage. I’ll sign off with a saying from my buddy. He always says keep your stick on the ice, but what would a guy from Florida know about a hockey euphemism.:lol_hitti

Uncle Willie, the only time I was considered essential was when I asked for a transfer. On a serious note, are you and Steph considering a home birth? This doesn't seem like a good time to be near a maternity ward.

Miss the Pontiacs, you are a brave man taking that plunge into my thread. The Lucky thread was just a reminder that life is good, whatever the challenges may be. As to the hockey reference, I spent many winters at my grandparents house on a lake and really enjoyed hockey singles -- way less painful than the team version. I'm also into a little Kayaking. In Bar Harbor, Maine I'm known as "Duct-tape Bob." The answer to the question "How do you Kayak one-handed ?" is "Duct-tape the handle to your forearm."

Glad you're up and running on all 7 cylinders. And yes, it takes one to know one.
Kirk, at some point in the rpm range it almost sounds like you're running on all 8 but the rate I go now it sounds more like a 3-banger. At this point anything I can do to stay away from the hospital and the TP Zombies is fine with me.

When Heath was born he did quite a bit of damage to her...ummm...lady parts. It took the doc quite a long time to get things stitched back up. Although the kid did squirt out in just 16 minutes. But I don't want to take a chance on that happening again. I don't think I could fix that with mechanics wire.

Think I should use silicone?

Who has the time for that? Five minute epoxy is far stronger and sets faster.

True (maybe) story: A guy I work with is a hobby farmer, used to raise a lot of hogs. Got his hand mangled pretty badly one day, barbed wire fence cut him right to the bone. He's one of these "too tough for the hospital" types, so he claims he just wrapped duct tape around his hand a few times and left it there for two weeks. Took the tape off, and he couldn't even tell he'd been cut.

Tall tale? Maybe, but that's his story.

Hey Bob, Uncle Willie's wife here. Yes I would love a home birth....I told him that before this virus stuff happened. If she tears me that badly we are only 15 minutes or so from the hospital and they can stitch me up and send me home. Unfortunately I have a gut feeling she will also be a premie. Heath was born at 36 weeks exactly and I was in labor before I felt the contractions. I have had false labor contractions for a few weeks now.

NO SILICONE OR DUCT TAPE ON THE LADY BITS!!!!!

"What would a guy from Florida know-about a hockey euphemism?" Hah!

Down here in south Florida, where it can be closer to get from the state to Havana, Cuba than it is for you to go from Regina to Saskatoon, we have hockey, we have a team in the NHL, maybe you've heard of our Hall of Fame goalie 'Beezer?' And there are multiple ice rinks for use of those who want to skate, they also have hockey leagues, though right-now we're using the rinks as makeshift morgues for the cruise ship casualties.

Duct tape does make for a good bandage. Not as bad as your friend but did heal well.

Weld it! Stronger than ever.

Drftpin I realize that and also if I’m right Bob was raised in a more northern part of the US.
You also have the Panthers and Lightning but I have never seen them play live. Do you get out to any games? I’m not exactly a big hockey guy but do take in the CFL and baseball when I get a chance.
When were in the Keys I was a little surprised that there is only 90 miles separating you from Cuba.

Uncle Willie, both our children were born in the hospital and I have no idea what went on in the process. Back in the early '60s husbands were told where the nearest bar was located and it was a contest to see whether father or mother would be out cold first.
Duct tape and zip ties. She'll be good as new.
Tom, that's the reason wives pull our bandages off our hairy bodies so slow.
Think I should use silicone?
Uncle Willie, I suspect that stuff would be sealing up one of your body parts before you could finish the sentence "How's tha...."

Tom, sometimes it's easier to just tape it up than go in the house and reveal my mistake. The tape works great but you have to move fast to clean up the mess before the CSI wannabe makes her rounds. Unbelievable how little blood it takes for some people to take you to the ER.
Problem is that wommins bits are notoriously hard to wrap things around.
Uncle Willie, it's a good sign you know that.

Mrs. Uncle Willie, you are very kind for taking your husband in. Did you find him at a No Kill Shelter? I know you'll do the right thing when the time comes. It's a good time to TeleMedicine with your doctor. I hope you can make it to term but I know our second arrived much quicker than the first. Pretty sure it was before I had my first drink. I will be rooting for you from afar so make sure you-know-who is close by.

I assume you are aware that most of the guys on the GJ are afraid of a Colonoscopy and would scream like a little girl if duct tape or silicone got anywhere near their junk.

Dang it, I gotta get stronger chains. She keeps chewing through them and getting loose while I am gone.
Uncle Willie, be afraid, be very afraid. A wife close to delivery will gut you like a trout while smiling up from her imprisonment.

Philip, we also have some of the largest snow ski clubs in the country in South Florida.
Duct tape does make for a good bandage. Not as bad as your friend but did heal well.

Weld it! Stronger than ever.

Stewart, I like to use duct tape for my fingers when I'm working with concrete blocks or pavers. If you do it regularly, the occasional hidden gusher is overlooked. You should have used it when you had that little battery nick.
Miss the Pontiacs, my brother was the sports fan and I was the car nut. The few times I attended pro games I went early to check out the cars in the parking lot.

Monday I was getting a little antsy. After spending too much time reading the "Official Coronavirus" thread, my descent into the dark pit of despair ended when I read Brokeboater's post (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8434289&postcount=3327):

Things that happen during Covid-19:

· Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.
· I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe.
· I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.
· Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom
· PSA: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
· Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job.
· I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone
· This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot.
· Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in business.
· My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet.
· I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear?
· I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to Puerto Backyarda. I'm getting tired of Los Livingroom.
· Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun.
· Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said, I hope I don't have the same teacher next year
Rather than return to the pit or anything associated with it, I went outside and took in the beauty of a pre-Summer Florida day. I found the first Gardenia bloom of the season. I picked it and set it in a small shooter glass in the kitchen where it filled the room with its perfume.

attachment.php

A few feet down the path to the back yard and I came across a small Desert Rose blooming after a harsh winter (sorry, that's a relative term in Florida meaning we had lots of rain).
attachment.php

A few feet from the gate to the back-backyard I stopped to admire an Orchid in bloom. We buy or are gifted an orchid and when it stops blooming we just put it outside in our shadiest garden and are surprised when it pops out another stalk of blooms. I wonder what would happen if we tried taking care of them.

By this time I'm feeling well enough to go back to the keyboard and see if the world is still on its axis. On the way in through the patio sliding door I stopped to admire the big Desert Rose in the corner, wondering if it's all right with all those blooms.

Focus on the good things. Several years ago a buddy in Texas sent me a cactus that was growing in his yard. It was the size of a golf ball. I named it the Texas Hate Poppy. It is in a pot on the front porch. Today I noticed how big it has gotten in what is obviously not its growing zone. I will have to get a picture of it tomorrow.

Tuesday (yesterday) was a bad day. We're staying home except to go to the pharmacy and two doctors we have to visit in person (shots and urine/blood tests. In Florida forge-proof heavy-duty prescriptions have to be presented in person and picked up in person with a photo ID.

At the end of my bad day I decided to avoid grocery shopping and save my son and his wife driving 70 miles to deliver food to us. Instead I used the Publix - Instacart service. Made a list of items on my phone and requested they deliver it. Placed the order late Tuesday and it was supposed to arrive late Wednesday but it came at 9:00 this morning. At first I didn't understand the young lady who rang our doorbell. She was standing in the driveway pointing her phone at me, saying "Are you Bob?" and when I said yes, all she said was "Instacart," which made no sense to me. I asked "Are you from Publix?" and when she said Yes! I had her leave the bags outside near the door. They didn't have a couple of items but they removed tem from the charge. I also couldn't figure out the charge card because it said MasterCard and I had charged it on Discover. Ahhh, she put the groceries on her card and Instacart will reimburse her for what she paid plus the 15% tip I indicated on my end. She is supposed to get the whole tip and Instacart gets a few cents up-charge on each item from Publix.

Reason I did the Instacart thing was fear. Things went bad quickly on Tuesday, starting with me heading out to Walgreens at 7:55 to drop off Liane's prescriptions. Took the Cadillac because it needed gas. Turned out our Walgreens doesn't participate in the "Pity Old People Tuesday" with 8:00-9:00 reserved for seniors to do their drug runs. There were very few people in the store and I'm wearing a glove and face shield, expecting a longish line. When I discover the Pharmacy counter is locked tight, I returned to the parking lot.

As always, the Cadillac started right up but putting the transmission in Drive, nothing happened for about five seconds. Thinking it was a fluke I filled up and when I put it in drive, the five second delay happened again. Swung by Publix on the way home to discover the parking lot jamb packed full. Being an old fart I was certain the transmission was low on fluid so I left the Cadillac parked in the driveway. I checked the Owner's Manual and found the transmission does not have a dip stick or any way to add transmission fluid. I found the checking and filling procedure Volume V, Chapter 17, Page 163 (of 1,798) in the Service Manual. I wonder if anyone (besides the technical writers) has read the whole thing.
attachment.php

To check the fluid level you have to get the car's drive wheels (in the rear) off the ground and then level the car by jacking up the front wheels. You then have to start the engine and check the temperature of the transmission fluid, which has to be warm but not hot. Then you can remove the drain plug and if transmission fluid doesn't pour out, you have to remove a fill plug in the least accessible part of the transmission and pump the special fluid in that hole. When fluid runs out the drain hole, the right amount of fluid is in the transmission. I'm an idiot but I'm not crazy enough to crawl under a jacked-up running car and hope everything goes well.

That was yesterday morning, when I was looking for a match to set a large pool of gasoline under the Cadillac on fire and call my insurance company. Today Liane and I agreed to have the Cadillac dealer pick up the car and take it in to fix the problem.

After failing to find a lighter, I drove the Corvette back to Walgreens a little after 9:00 iand found a long line of very sick looking old people. Turned around and came home. Figured I;d try again at 3:00 in the afternoon but that meant a lot of time to waste. Decided to change the oil on the PT Cruiser because I already had the fresh oil and filter.

Got the PT Cruiser up on two jackstands and drained the oil. When I removed the old filter it was not the same one I received with the oil. Turns out Amazon recommended the wrong filter but I didn't realize it until the old oil and filter were out of the car. Cleaned up, went inside and visited Amazon to return the filter and order the right one. Amazon gave me a return order and all I had to do was print it out and take it and the filter to the UPS store 0.6 miles from us. When I ordered the right filter for the PT Cruiser, Amazon Prime projected delivery was Friday, April 10. I'm now the proud owner of three registered, relatively new vehicles and only one can be driven.

Did the drop-off at UPS and returned to Walgreens a little after 3:00. Headed to the pharmacy and there was no line. Not a single person. My first thought was AH **** they closed the pharmacy. Nope, a girl came up to the register and asked me to wait a moment while she wiped down the counter and keypad with disinfectant. Picked up my prescriptions and will go back to pick up Liane's at 3:00 the day they say they're ready.

Feeling like my bad day might be over I went home and did that grocery order thing. This afternoon, two days early, the filter arrived. I went out and told the PT Cruiser all would be right tomorrow.

Bob sorry to hear about your day. I thought I had a bad day last Friday but it was really only a bad hour. I do believe we are going to come out of this better and learn some lessons that maybe we needed to. I myself completely uplugged from the news and media last Friday. I have certainly had better sleep since then. Although ignorance is bliss.

This past Sunday we were issued surgical masks at work and strongly advised to wear them. Not a big deal but now I am considering shaving my beard I have had for almost 10 years as it itches so bad under that mask.

I think it is crazy to not a put a dipstick on a transmission. I mean how much extra money would it actually cost to have that as a feature. I did an oil change on the Camaro last Thursday. I ordered everything from O'riellys with a curbside pickup. It went smoothly. When I went to change the filter I discovered I had a Mobil 1 filter and not the ACDelco I thought. But everything fit and I had no problems.

Hope you have a better day today and get back your other 2 daily drivers.

Also from you pic its amazing the manual for the 87' is less than a fifth of the Cadillac's manual.

Your thread always brightens one’s day but sharing brokeboaters post made it a great way to end the day.

I want to hear more about the shooter glasses. Can’t wait to visit and try one out. Also didn’t realize you had pet birds and a leopard. Next thing we know you’ll be on the Tigerland show.

Bob sounds like my garage; three cars one with no battery, one with no insurance, and the other needs a transmission. The owner needs to do something he FEELS like doing. Just to let you know Ginny has been down and I have been trying to get her to see the flowers. Your post did it for me. She says thanks and so do I. Funny how only husbands make their wives believe they need to press control, alt, delete if unsolicited noise is coming out of their speakers. Now I know I can just ring you up and put her on speaker phone then go and have a beer.

Bret, I have done the same. For a while I had the news running in the background on the TV in the office but it wasn't helping me feel more secure. I sleep though hurricanes so this hasn't made me miss my solid 8 (yet). I do feel fortunate having the heart procedure done when I did. My secondary insurance tried to kill me with the most recent statement "For the Service Period: 02/12/2020 thru 02/22/2020." The first line is "Total Amount Billed" and the number barely fits in the box: "$109,476.67." The second line is "Total Amount Medicare Approved" and it makes no sense at $17,699.87. Then the "Total Amount Your Plan Paid" is $1,885.50 which makes even less sense than the Medicare number. The last line is "Total Amount You May Owe" and it's $114.13, which may be the broiled Salmon dinner I chose, with neither Medicare nor Aetna willing to cover.

I agree with your company that you and your co-workers should be wearing masks as long as the medical and first responder folks have them. CDC put out a Facial Hair guideline for the masks. Just be sure to loudly announce your arrival at home if you do decide to shave. More than one man has been shot and killed showing up at home with a "new look."

The dipstick thing is a mystery to me. Looks like a quick way for the dealers to make $150. Got a call today that they need to open the transmission ($760 labor) and maybe disassemble the valve body ($$$$$). Another $150 for drain, flush and replace antifreeze in both coolant systems. Because the car has Brembo brakes I told them to flush the brake fluid while they are at it. Turned down their offer to drain and refill the differential (less than 18,000 miles???) and turned down the offer of four ON SALE new tires -- claims they don't make mine any more and these are 9 years old (the original 2009 or 2010 tires were replaced in 2011). I have a carry permit so I feel like I'm going to have to be packing when they hand me the ransom note.

Yesterday was a wonderful day, with the filter and oil change going smoothly and my wife patting me on the back about the Cadillac, reminding me that it isn't a real problem if it can be fixed with money. The PT Cruiser is sitting in the garage enjoying the cool and shady bay the Cadillac took away from it.

Apparently shop manuals are priced by the pound. The back of the 1972 Corvette Owner's Manual has the price for the two volumes shipped from Helm Inc. at $11.30. Same source for the five Cadillac manuals at just under $300. Based on my experience that will pay me back real soon.

Kirk, no one in my extended family is sick and all the irritants are curable so I'm back to being happy and enjoying life. I will have to get up early one day this weekend to wash and detail the PT Cruiser. It needs some love.
Sounds like all you need to be completely COVID safe is one more car breaking down!...
Tom, I'm heading in the other direction with the cars with two ready to roll. On the bright side, Instacart will do my Costco shopping and deliver the stuff to our house. I could get used to this hermit lifestyle.
Gee. Sounds like a day to start drinking.
Uncle Willie, I hear the liquor stores are empty, as are the guns and ammo outlets. Now that Florida has given me a concealed carry permit it's probably a good thing those ingredients are not in my wheelhouse (or turrets).
Sounds like a rough way to go but you are persistent Bob! However only go out when necessary. My wife has me chained to the garage and wont let me come in until dinner time!!
Mark, I might go out today to pick up Liane's prescriptions but then it's back to the galleon for my scheduled floggings.

Stewart, that post really made my day as well.

You're in luck with the shooter glasses because I have two. Those are my trophy wildlife, which I mounted outside rather than on the wall in the house. I made it through one episode of Tiger King and gave up. Just another average Joe who loves pets. Star of the show should be Saff because he lost his left hand to a Tiger. A Tiger trumps a Train every time.

Bobby, it's the least I can do for all the happiness I get from your thread. My face hurts from smiling every time you post a picture of the Brick Woodshop and the Sawmill.

Uncle Willie, that's a beautiful cactus. It looks so innocent with he quills laying down but something tells me it's a trick. It's good to have indentured servants! Mine are all grown up and on their own so I have to remember to take out the garbage (and what holidays move it to a different day). Also turns out people who mow lawns for a living won't do it for room and board.

Simon, if I posted less I wouldn't be posting at all (less than 5,000 posts in 10 years is slightly more than one post a day).
Bob I hope today was better for you than yesterday!
Matt, every day is a gift -- some are a pleasant surprise and others are an unpleasant surprise. I feel like the pleasant ones far outnumber the unpleasant ones.

Friday afternoon the dealership called to say the transmission repair would be around $3,000 and the coolant and brake flushes would be another $300. Seems like that gummint check is gonna come at the perfect time. They tell me it they are replacing the valve body and TCM so now I know what to order when it happens again. Read a few articles on the 6l90E transmission and there are a couple of design flaws in the valve body and Transmission Control Module and several companies offer upgraded pieces. I'm waiting for a quote from one company (they need the vehicle ID) but it's in the $400 range. I'll have to see the invoice to see exactly what parts have been replaced. As a parting gesture, the service manager offered to replace the 9-year-old Michelin Pilot Sport tires for an additional $2,000. I'm sure the generous offer didn't include mounting, balancing, nitrogen and EPA disposal fees.
