Keep this one going and we can change the title when you need.

Thanks Simon. I was leaning to keeping this one active.

Hi Dan
The only opinion that counts is yours, we’ll follow along whatever you decide.
We’re all on lockdown here, not much moving going on.
Are you one of those celebrity flipper types, making a quick buck, then moving on.:lol::lol:
Take care, stay safe.

Steve

Hi Steve, we're not on lock-down here but I have been working from home; this is the start of week 2 of 4 mandated.

And no, we're not the flipper types but life threw us a curve ball and we found a great house.

What! You just got everything the way you like it.

Bret

Yeah Bret, I know...... The situation with my folks is changing and it looks like they will need to come and live with us. The current house cannot manage all of our needs.

The trailer came out awesome

Thanks BF and thanks for stopping by.

Getting the trailer ready was step 1 for moving!
Mike

Hi Mike, no that wasn't the plan as the trailer did need to be refurb'ed but now it looks like this will be a bonus to help us move.

Thank you all for stopping by.

Well folks, stay tuned.

Odd Acres is moving.

Not sure if I should start a new thread or keep adding to this one.

Opinions please??

Heya Dan,

My opinion is to keep adding to it. If I ever had to move then Ernie's Place moves with me. The geographical location is not as important as the concept I bring to that place. As Metallica said: "Where I lay my head is home". I'm sure someone said it before then...but that sounded cooler. ;)

Hi Todd, and thanks for stopping by. You bring up a very good point; Metallica aside.

I will continue to add to this thread.

Your place is nicely set up now, would be hard to leave it behind. Anyhow best of luck with the next one!

but a move opens up opportunity for more concrete work.....

Justin, you're right!! And there will be more concrete work. I (we) need a pad for my new shop. Bwahahahahaha.......... Total clean slate.

:) acres to hectares :headscrat:lol_hitti

Sorry I needed a laugh if any one gets the joke. Will be keen to see what you have happening.

Nope Simon, we're going from 1.01 acres to 1.18 acres.

We put in an offer on the house on Saturday and it was accepted yesterday. Getting all of the inspections and such completed is going to be an adventure with the governor of Arizona issuing a "stay at home" order until April 30th today. :willy_nil

Dayumm, great looking place! Looks a lot like your current place to me, just larger. :)
I must say though...MAN-oh-MAN do I hate moving! Glad it's you & not me. :bounce:

Good for you to make such a big adjustment in your lives to accommodate your parents. I hope everything goes well, albeit the mess we all seem to be in currently. And I hope for all of us, that it doesn't last beyond the current April extension.
Lastly, at the risk of over-using "I hope", I hope you, wife & parents feel comfortable as you all get used to being under one roof. That alone could be stressful, depending on how the propensity may be for all involved regarding the issues of living together. I've heard it said that sometimes older folks get set in their ways, annnd... :lol_hitti

This coming from a guy who is 55 & definitely getting more set in his ways day by day! Get off my lawn!!

Congrats on the move Dan. You've created a nice place and I know what it's like to leave behind but your new place looks AWESOME.

I'm happy for you that you are able to do this and look forward to seeing your new shop build in the process.

As for the thread it's your call. I started a new one and just called it 2.0 but that was mainly because a lot of my earlier pictures were taken over by the tinypic debacle anyways, plus I just wanted people to see my nice, new and larger shop compared to my old and smaller shop.:bounce:

Best of luck in the move and looking forward to seeing more pics of it and especially the shop.

That new place in quite a spread. I'm looking forward to what you do with it. Hope the transaction is as smooth as possible in these shelter-in-place days.

Good luck.

Dan, that's exciting news and I look forward to following along. My city has been under a "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order since Saturday, with almost every city service shut down, including the building where our Building Department is located. However, the city is still allowing building permits to be issued and inspections scheduled. In these uncertain times I suspect you are going to see amazingly quick permitting and inspections.

Fingers crossed on the sale of your current home!

C_F, you're absolutely correct. One thing going for us is that this home has a split bedroom floor plan. We will deal with it as it comes. I can always retreat to my shop and lock the door.

Stunning.

Thanks Simon!

Nice project

Thank you!

I second that.... that outdoor patio space is a perfect GJ meeting spot! I would travel to sit there and have a cocktail!

C'mon over Duke! The adult beverages will be on ice.

Very nice...and a NEW shop!

Ya, you betcha! :bounce:

Thanks Mike! Yeah, a lot of work went into this place but I'm sure the next owner won't have to fiddle with anything for quite some time.

Hi Bob, well according to my friend who is also a realtor, and who found the new place for us, we will have zero issues selling this place. But this place won't go on the market for a couple of months or more while we get things sorted out at the new place. Nice place to be that we don't have to sell this one to buy that one.

Dan, thats a great looking house, good work fella
I've always enjoyed moving, onwards and upwards and all that.

A quick question, excluding the exceptional circumstances we all find ourselves in,
how long would you expect the moving process to take, here its anything from two months to twelve, I think my last move was.:lol_hitti

good luck with it all

Hi Steve and thank you, sir. We are supposed to close on the new house on May 7th, barring any delays from Covid-19 stuff. After that, we have painting, new carpet in the master bedroom and a small renovation on the kitchen island to do. During that time, I hope to have the new concrete pad poured and maybe the new shop constructed. (Probably not.....) When all of that is complete, it will be move in time. :willy_nil

I'm tired already.

Dan I think I am just as excited for you as you are. I don't plan on ever moving again. Especially since we have probably doubled what we own since we moved but sometimes life does change things for you without your consent.

Dan, we did the same with our current house. Saw the house on Sunday, October 20, 1996 and agreed to their asking price. Gave them the down payment on Monday, cashed out some securities and received the deed and key on November 1. No bank but a lawyer we both agreed on and a title insurance company were involved in the transaction. Old house was paid off so no big rush to sell. Bank was involved in that sale on the buyers side and it reminded me why I hate dealing with banks.

Most of our life together we avoided buying anything we couldn't pay for on the spot. Something about taking the future for granted doesn't feel right.

New place looks great! gardens and entertaining area look real prim and proper, i'm jealous of that garden you have there, as mine at the moment is full of knee high weeds!

I looked out to my backyard the other day and i could hardly see my lime and mandarin trees, as the weeds and weed grass had grown about waist height around them. I filled the whole garbage bin pulling it all out by hand and had no more room, so i couldn't even cut my grass :headscrat

So i see a very nice big 3 car garage attached to the house, and yet we are talking about pouring a pad for a "bigger" workshop too? your speaking my language brother!

Looking forward to updates!

Rudi.

Hi Rudi and thanks for stopping by and those kind comments!

UPDATE:

Well, home inspection was last Friday. Only minor things for the homeowner to address. :rocker:

Septic inspection was done today and while it's functioning fine, the inlet and outlet lines are tilted and need to be straightened out. I also want risers and caps installed so that there will be no digging for any future pump-outs. Sad part is I need to remove some trees. :( Someone planted a mesquite right were the inlet meets the tank. Oh yeah, not very bright. I'm surprised we didn't see roots crawling through the pipes or the tank. That tree is about 20 feet (6 meters) tall. There are two more trees (palo verde's) that are right on top of a leach field leg that have to go as well.

More to come.

Good news on the inspection!

Hey save the wood from that Mesquite tree (locally it’s going between $7.50-12.50 a board foot for furniture grade) and it will make for some great projects. Worst case....a couple of years of seasoning in your sun will mellow it out for great smoke for the BBQ!

When you get it cut...ship me a couple of turning sized pieces and I will make you some goodies for the new casa!

Yeah Mike, I feel really crappy about having to cut down perfectly good trees.

Duke, I plan on doing both with the mesquite; a few resaw pieces and a few for cooking. I will see what I can salvage. For the palo verde, not so much. Those will go to the dump. Other than providing shade, that tree is useless in my opinion.

Thanks for stopping by guys!!

WoW! I have been gone from Odd Acres Since the trailer project. This COVID **** has thrown work and home life into kind of a tailspin. However, I am caught up on the “happenings “ at the acres. Glad you are able to move your parents in with you. That is a blessing. The new digs are AWESOME LOOKING!!! I know the new shop is going to be set up just right for you and the big machines. I only hope whoever gets to buy the house uses it like y’all did. Someone is going to get a great upgraded place. Good Luck on the move. Looking forward to the new build.

Hi Bama and thank you for stopping by and those very kind words.

Things have been really busy lately with getting the new house prepped and ready to move in (some good stories to tell there), getting the existing house prepped and ready to put on the market, out of town guests, etc.

Started going back into the office occasionally this past week but will probably do that full time next week. Maybe....

Thank you all for stopping by.

With the move did you start a different thread or are you planning to continue here?

Dan we need an update, hope all is well.

Hello Gents! Thanks for stopping by.

Holy ****! I cannot believe it's been four months since my last update. All is well here. I have actually been taking and loading pictures on Flickr for an update I was planning on doing this week. Between work and home, it has been busy.

Here's a slight tease.....
