Mac 88x30 toolbox. Bought it from the orig owner and it is excellent cond and USA made. I think I did well. What surprises me is the bottom bigger drawers only have one slider on each side but do have cutout's to add another slider. What a dumb design, such a large draw but only 2 sliders. the top big draer has 4 sliders, much stronger.

I'd be willing to bet you could add additional slides as an option for extra weight capacity. Call Mac / Stanley and talk with the toolbox division.

That’s because the bottom big drawer is where tools go to die and is meant to only be used during the burial process.

That is a great buy, very well built box, yes you can add extra slides, most guys put cases or welding helmet, etc in that drawer, so one set is sufficent

How can a man of your caliber, own such a crappy caulking gun? :shocking:

Because like tape measures and razor knives.........the good ones had disappeared into narnia and that's what the local Ace had handy.

Hence, the burial in the bottom drawer

If I'm not mistaken macismizer single slide drawers are rated for at least 200 lbs so unless you plan to put 400 lbs in one of those drawers, you'll be find not putting double slides on them. My snap on krl1022 dosen't have double slides on anything other than the top drawer.

Back in 1998 I bought a brand new Macsimizer three bank bottom, matching top, and two lockers. I think the whole thing listed for close to $18K in the catalog. The bottom box was in the $8K range new and that was 22 years ago.
I'd likely still have it but the day they delivered that box was the last time I ever saw a Mac Tool dealer around here. There's not been one since.
Mine had double slides all all but the very narrow drawers. One of my drawer slides fell apart about 5 years after I bought it, I tried to find a dealer, but no luck, called Mac Tools and was told that the Lifetime warranty meant that it was warranted for the 'Expected Life' of the tool or box to be free from defects. I was told that the new slides would cost me over $200 plus shipping. I robbed two slides from another drawer, and traded it in a few months later on a Snap-On box.
Looking back, the Mac box was a way better box, the whole design of the cabinet is better and far more rigid. The Snap On lockers were junk, they sagged before ever putting anything in them, and the drawer depth didn't work out to be as useful as the Mac box.
When I traded the Mac box in, the Snap On guy cut me a pretty decent deal, and pretty much gave me what I paid for the Mac box. I ended up with a larger box in the end for only a few hundred bucks out of pocket in 2002, so I really didn't lose anything. Its just a shame that Mac abandoned this area, much like I think Snap On is doing now. Truck dealers are going away and they're saying if you want tools, you have to order them online. No more dealer discounts or bargaining for a better price if you pay cash.

Best tool buy you can do is used truck box.
That a great deal for 3 bank that big.
Other plus it a sensible color and easy matched .
easy add extra slides and fab a top surface to make it more rugged and hold it's value .
enjoy the box ...

Again, awesome score, those boxes are stout and very underated in the used price market. Enjoy, it will outlast you and your children.
