And so it begins: 6700sq ft

I have been a long time lurker, and have been planning a new shop for almost 4 years. What better time to start it than during a pandemic.

Teardown happens today. I setup a time-lapse with my GoPro with the help with the help of this forum and a construction person on the instagram.

It sits about 15 feet in the air and is hooked to power so the battery wont die. I think I can download through the wifi so I wont have to touch it and the memory card should allow me to get 6 days at an image every 60 secs.

Had to rush to get it setup because they called and said they were coming today and I had to do a zoom lecture for school this am (currently in the lecture but decided to send this since I am just the moderator. Will great a much better setup in the next couple days.

Updated some images

Watching the excavator work was mesmerizing. They got it all clean up so fast, it is incredible to know that something that has taken 4 years to get planned, organized, and funded is off to such a great start.

I am taking some time-lapse videos and will try to get them posted to be able to see when I learn how. Thinking an external link, but if anyone has a suggestion I am all ears (eyes- since I will be reading).

The soil is pretty sandy so it went really quick, though a couple large rocks were encountered. I will continue to post pics

Building size: 50ftx140ftx15ft (ish). There will be a couple little jogs to make it match another existing building's profile on the property.

I made a more permanent time-lapse water proofing setup.

I tried to resize the images so hopefully it works, I had to do each individually (any tips for making it quicker is appreciated)..

Thanks for following and stay tuned for more updates.

I spent some time (maybe?) in your area for the Brimfield Antique Fair twice in 2018. I never pictured your state so forested in the Western part.

Yeah the western part of the state has alot of woods. The state varies a ton.

Why, in a million years, would you want that style of lift? It's not full size.

And most of all, you can't work under it (unless I'm missing something), which is the whole point of a lift.

Put in a full-size 4-poster, 9,000lb capacity minimum. Anyway, that's MHO. Please tell me the 'good' points on that lift???

50 x 140 does give me serious garage envy, LOL. Good luck with it!

To answer your question we want a flush clear span and it is full size(or Atleast what I consider full size).
This lift will accommodate 12k lbs is a drive in lift with built in scissor lift in the drive in rails.

The runways are 192inches and can accommodate a 17 inch wheelbase.
Total lift height of 85 inches.
Can use the Integrates scissor lift and get 17 inches of lift height between the drive on rails and the car for suspension work. Will
Also get jack rails with it for my camaro.

How many lifts are you going to have? I see a bunch of 2 post lifts in the background. Sub-d

That is just an example image of the flush amount.

Just the one flush mount drive on scissor lift.

Will pour the floor and run the radiant to accommodate a two post for future expansion

Congrats on the start of your project. I mentioned it in another thread somewhere, but I'll pass it along here as well - instead of that somewhat involved/persnickety camera setup, take a look at the Brinno tlc200 pro. Battery life, tons of options, can get an optional weather-proof case, excellent storage, etc etc etc. I think I set mine up in a given location and left it for a couple weeks at a time.

Not affiliated, just a happy customer. I used one for my house and shop builds.

The base is done, we used a small/medium grader, a large reversible plate compactor on the edges, and a medium/large rolling vibradrum.

We did it in lifts roughly 8-10 inch lifts. Just waiting for the GC to get started on the building

Just got my
Camaro back from
Dropping it off last July. Was told it would be a 3-4 week project to do vintage air, front serpentine drive, and Bolt on suspension upgrade. I was not sure when we would start our shop build so with no start date in sight I decided to have it done. 10 months later and excuse after excuse, I got it back. Fully disappointed in the end product. I vetted the person and called references and got he got
Great reviews and built numerous high end big winning show cars. Apparently my project was not important enough. Loose fender bolts, loose Exhaust collectors, missing screws and bolts, and forgot to install the
Evaporator drain tube under the dash for drainage from the new AC (vintage air). Just a friendly reminder of why we are building the shop.

And when I called him back to tell him he said it was because I rushed him 😂🤦. Not sure how anyone can be rushed after ten months.

I may not be able to go something as well as the best, but I know I will also do my best.

Ps not sure why the images are sideways when I post on my iPhone

I am pretty sure you could since the Ramps have 3 ft between the
Will also be getting the rolling jacks which makes it like a two post and it has the built in scissor lift in the ramp

We had one of these at a shop I once worked at. We primarily used it for alignments, but occasionally did anything on it. It's just a lot more inconvenient than a 2 post.

I will also be setting up for a future inground two post (the canister type) but will start with this.

Maybe I will regret it but I think I will Be really happy, surely hope it’s the case

I need little feed back. Have the time-lapse of the teardown and foundation. But its 9 min, would you guys prefer to see it in its glory or more significantly edited?

Also what is the preferred video link? (Vimeo?)
