I found one of those years ago hanging in someone's dusty garage. Now that it's mine it sits under an acrylic videogame screen.

Couple I'm working on for my daughters. Light doesn't show the blue pearl in the clear well.

I've been meaning to post this for a long time but never seem to have the time. Found this at an estate sale and could not pass it up. I'm very annoyed with myself because I scrubbed some of the logo off trying to clean rust with a scotchbrite. It hangs on the wall in my shop where I can always enjoy it.

Those are good wood chisels, I’ve got two, bought them from Epstein’s close out.

Not that good for hand work but they do well with a mallet. They have a tough edge.

Very cool GasGT! I've never seen all metal wood chisels and certainly never seen a Craftsman Crowntop set!! I'm not sure I'd expect much from them woodworking wise but I hope I come across some one of these days.

Something I didn't know existed until last night. I member on another site posted this picture with questions. I counted the drawers (7), looked at the handles (looks like they're off grannies vanity) and figured it wasn't Craftsman. I figured somebody stuck the Crown logo on it like the guy that has a Hobart stack with Snap On decals plastered to it. It was bugging me so I dug a bit deeper and sure enough, it is Craftsman. 1959 7 drawer with bulk storage. Those handles are really unique for Craftsman boxes of any era. The poster is going to go look at it, possibly buy it but hopefully bring back info on wether or not it has the AMD embossing behind the logo. I'd like to find one of these.

That is a rare one. I would have thought the same thing if Rileysan did not confirm it to be real. If you want to talk super rare, look at the ‘62 deluxe roller[emoji15] one year only and drop shipped from Waterloo. I don’t recall ever seeing a picture of one aside from the catalog illustration. Did that member on fb ever buy it?

Yes, it has the AMD behind it. Because one is sitting in my garage right now. Wasn't sure exactly what it was when I went to go look at it, price was right so I grabbed it. Now I am still searching for the 10D top to go with it. From what I remember when I was asking about it, it was only made for a couple of years, right before the transition to grey/reds.

Mrs. Torqueman and I are sorting through 33 years of basement 'savings', during these 'stay at home' days.

I came across a few vintage tools I want to offer up to someone who likes/loves Crown Top tools.

Here are a few to start.

I have a few. Here's the biggest. Well, it was the biggest til I got a crown top radial arm saw with cabinet base this morning. I don't have pictures of the saw yet. The last picture is the beginnings of a crown top badge I made.

I’ve been helping a friend sort through his father’s home shop prior to estate sale, and noticed the crowntop badge on this Permanex container. Not sure if it was always a chips/sawdust separator, or a trash can, or a vacuum drum...
Just thought it was neat.

I picked up this crown top craftsman Simpson - Sears Limited torque wrench today. After a bit of GJ research I see that Sears -Simpson was a Canadian joint venture. The wrench dated 1973 seems to work perfectly and is roughly in calibration after a crude check. The history of a functioning ~45 year old tool is hook for me.Adjustments.jpgView attachment 1IMG_2720.jpg
