Looking to add a 50amp hookup near my detached garage for a camper. The garage feeder from house panel is 4 wire, and the ground/neutral are not tied together (didnt install the green screw)

Camper hookups are 4 wire, 2 hots, ground and neutral. The way I understand it, nothing actually uses 240 volts, just 2 seperate 120v, hence needing the neutral. Am I understanding this correctly?

I guess my question is, I should be able to just run a 4 wire feeder from garage to a pole at my camper with my 50amp recepticle and be good to go, right?

Thanks.

Yes.

Might be overkill, but throwing it out there. You can get boxes that give you your connection, plus an additional 30a rv or standard 20a 120v connection. Might be helpful to have a 120v outlet there in case you need to plug something in and the rv isn't there.

Here is one with 50a,30a and 20a outlets.

I was planning to add a standard 20a recep, but this looks great. Once I get over the price, i may buy it lol Thanks.

That's correct...

Yes. I like the GE box above. I use Siemens Talon, same thing... Gives you 3 outlet types, 3 breakers, and GFCI.

Some of mine are actually wired 30A 240V. This powers 2 AC units on an RV just fine... And you can downgrade to 10GA copper wire (in most cases).

I spose you could under wire the recept if it was current limited but really a good practice to wire recepts according to design, they worked out a whole approved system for this.

Fair statement. I do label mine "30A". There's a big difference in 6GA and 10GA wire.. :)
