So i have a few of these old jacks, made in China nothing too extraordinary here that i had some questions about. I also have a newer HF jack as my primary that has been terrific, not pictured.

But i have these two other jacks and trying to figure out what i want to do since i do want to keep 2 jacks but probably not 3.

The Sears 214.50015 i bought probably back in the early 90s and it slips badly as i try to pump it up. Won't stay up at all.

The Westward 5ML67 i just got from someone recently & is pretty massive. I pumps up nicely but slips a bit if kept up. Add more jack fluid?? Or is there a thread you can direct me to for an idea what to do?

I am amazed both are rated at 3 tons but the Westward seems like it is really well built.

So i think i am going to get rid of the Sears, but you think it should be trashed (sent to metal scrap at dump) or kept for someone to rebuild??

what would you do?

My feelings exactly I am definitely keeping the Westward.

But what about the Sears one? Should i junk it or attempt to rebuild it?

I'm getting some jack oil later on

I have the same Sears jack which had the same problem. A few years ago, I removed the ram, drained out the old fluid, put in some of that "power steering sealer" and topped it off with new fluid.

It worked for me. After the refill, it pumped up as it should and held up the front end of my car overnight. it still leaks slowly and I topped it off again earlier this year.

I removed the ram because I intended to try and get new seals for it. Getting the large nut off was more difficult than I anticipated so I tried the quick fix.

I can't say the quick fix will work for you but it might be worth a shot.
