Got the 3/4" Rapidair MaxLine setup plumbed and pressure tested. Have a couple minor leaks to fix, but it's functional.17f6bbf10974672cb4efab4d648976e2.jpg05b57746b825264c47c36db2d6536b7f.jpg5adb5cb4e5c6067cc1d02440ef811583.jpgda24ebbce92928f814fa8f382b10869b.jpg

Started putting my flooring down. There’s talk about half an hour. Including the part that I had to take up and do a second time because I wasn’t paying attention. Probably won’t finish it until Saturday. Need to go pick up a table saw from my brother-in-law to do the edges and corners.

Nice work JIM!! Like bmws do you?

Just a bit. :)

What did that to the paint? was it near a fire?

It was parked in an open barn for a couple of years. That was mostly mold and a million spiders. Yuck.

Nice job Jim. I've been eyeing our local ads here looking for a project bike but most want stupid money for them even though they have a LOT of issues.
Thanks! The price was right on this, free. I even got a title. Since I have a few other bikes, this one will go up for sale soon. I figure it is worth about $2700. Low miles, only 31K, and it runs good. Test ride tomorrow.

Agreed. Some oil drains are just a mess, period, and you have to get creative and/or get used to wiping up oil afterwards.

As for small engines, the best thing I did was purchase an oil evacuation system. I initially bought it because I was working on several boats for people. I HATE working on boats, just thought I'd get that out there. But I quickly found out the oil evacuation system worked awesome on small engines and I now use it almost exclusively.
What was GM thinking when they sub mounted the oil filter in S10 4x4s upright on the core support, no way in hell to catch the oil. I just got used to changing oil in the gravel driveway.

Used the 843 Bobcat for the first time tonight. Removed some old fence posts in the backyard, hauled about 3 full loads of fill dirt over from the neighbors, and started cutting in the new back driveway. I am removing the sod and some of the soft topsoil before setting a large gravel base. A couple clips of it in action will be coming out next week. I still have a few things that need fine tuning, but so far she runs great 😁

Did an oil change on the ninja. It NEEDED it.

Reset the trip odometer, then went on a victory/shakedown ride.

Found out a few things.

When the bike was dropped in a previous life, the right handle bar is bent back, and the tank is bent to the left, causing it to “roll”. So it is higher on the right than the left. So when riding, it gets “close” in certain situations.

Also, when I turn right, the bike revs up. Loose accelerator cable tie down somewhere.

Gonna address those issues tomorrow or the weekend.

But other than that, and other stuff I already knew, she runs awesome. She shifts so much better and runs so much better with new oil :)

But still got whooped by my friend on his Yamaha Bolt.

Search is on for a 600 or larger bike now :shocking:

Buttoned up my 24 year old BMW - had it apart for oil leaks at rear main seal and front seal/timing covers. Got the transmission, driveshaft, and exhaust back on, replaced a torn steering rack boot, new clutch slave cylinder installs tomorrow.

Absolutely miserable working conditions - cramped, dirty garage, working on creeper, alone. Dirt and grit from underside falling in my face, arms covered with dirt, gloves keep tearing, always some part obstructing the one you need to get at. I can't even imagine what it would be like to work standing up under the vehicle, staying clean, and not having to get up and down off the ground every time I have the wrong tool - vent over.

Assembled my sandblasting cabinet and mounted to the workbench.
Running out of room. Soon need to make room off welding bench and bandsaw.

A tree limb came down during yesterday's storm and wiped out the flag pole attached to the gable and a couple plants, otherwise no damage. About 5 hours to move a lot of brush and get a bit of wood. Still need to get the flag back up.

Made a giant F@CKING mess changing the oil on my mom's Craftsmen rear engine rider.

1st of all they dump the oil drain right onto flat sheet metal frame, so it will go all over. I cut up a cardboard paper towel roll to help get the oil into a drain pan and was able to get most of it in w/o too much hassle. Same story with the oil filter, which there was no solution for. Just let it dump out on the frame I guess?

When I put the new oil filter on it just didn't feel right going on, but I made sure it was tight. Filled it up with oil and drove it out of the garage, only to find it dumped all the oil out on my floor. So I just put the old filter back on.

I told her not to buy anything new from Craftsmen, but did she listen......

Yup. . . And my 2008 Dakota, John Deere ZT, Bolens push mower, Timberwolf splitter. . . I use a piece of aluminum flashing until I get around to buying a form-a-funnel. It's been about 10 years, and I still need to "Get a round tuit."

That is really cool, and would've come in handy for many things I have done in the past! Added to the list!

Its funny cuz my old Massey Ferguson and Ariens snowblower have extended drain tubes to allow the oil to get out away from the frame (the MF actually has a hole in the frame for oil to drain through and into a pan).

Got a call from ma last night, and the drive belt and mower belt is slipping. Guess where the oil drains down to off the frame!!!!! F#CK!!!! Oil all over the belts and drive pullies.

Had an issue on the ninja where I would turn the handle bars and it would increase the idle.

Found the accelerator cable didn’t have enough slack, and so it would pull the throttle some when I turned the handle bars. Readjusted the accelerator cable, tightened the rear motor mount, and went for another spin.

There are still things to do, but she is rideable :bounce:

I have that on my project van. The trick is to punch a hole in the canister, then start draining the oil pan. by the time its done draining , the filter should be nearly empty. Doing it "hot" also helps.

Started cleaning up. Got enough metal slivers, so I switched to assembling and installing the shop clock. Well, that needed a swap from a big old light fixture to the new slim one, which needed a rail, and new box, which meant I had a hole to patch, which meant mud. So, I've got some wires hanging out of the new box, a mounting rail hanging askew, and a nice big blob of mud drying. And the light and clock are sitting on the bench waiting.

Since I have yet to uncover this car this year, this started out by me saying "why is that car sitting so low?"
and turned into a $425 flat tire.
These tires have less than 3000 miles on them and they are starting to get these cracks in the sidewalls........the problem is they are also 18 years old.
when I found out the leak was in the sidewall I was faced with the fact I have no choice but to get 4 new tires.

I scored a bunch of nicely cut strips of like new pile carpet over 15 feet long from a dumpster dive at the beginning of the month.
The carpet had some dog hair but mostly it was thick with ghost turds.
I swept and vacuumed it out on the driveway and swapped it with 3+ year old remnant carpet I line the garage floor with....the old carpet runners were beat and nasty dirty.
If you never had carpet in the garage, you might want to try it.

Besides making nice runners between the car parked, or kneeling to clean your wheels, laying to change oil, or insulating the concrete in the winter against tires of a winter garage queen, having "like new" free carpet runners to use is nice. I found enough to have runners in all walking areas of the garage. I even slide a runner out on the driveway to get a tan on my concrete beach. I do shy away from carpet under the cars in case a muffler pipe is too warm.
If the carpet gets too dirty, just toss it!
Try keeping carpet in the garage....it works for me!

I removed the access cover on the bobcat crankcase. Anticipated a loose sprocket bolt, but everything was tight. I gave the bolt a good two grunts with my biggest crescent wrench. That oughta do it! I have no idea how a mechanic gets over 400 ft lbs. I also picked up some oil for the unit and a pump. Excited to give it a try! 😁

I use carpet runners also, just not around the welder...

This also helps keep me from tracking garage dirt into the house.

Well, there's at least three of us. When I replaced the pink berber carpet in the living room with Pergo, I had enough to carpet almost the whole garage. Bought a strip of cheap indoor outdoor to do the space between the workbench and cars. Removed the carpet from one of the three bays when I bought my first welder. Replaced the daily driver bay carpet when we re-did the gray berber in the master bedroom. Between the carpet and some foam rubber mats my old bones thank me almost every day.

It was not actually "In" the garage - but was outside. Built a plant shelf out of redwood. A simple bench that can be placed in front of the window to hold potted plants. Sealed it and helped load it up with plants.

Some day it’s going to be sunny and hot around here..... so I made a screen to fit under the garage door so I can air out the shop all night without critters and bugs getting in. All used lumber and leftovers, painted the wood with used oil

Made some baffles for the firebox on my smoker. I'm trying the snake method while smoking chicken breasts. So far, it's working great. I'm 1.5 hours in and only half way through the snake. In theory, I shouldn't have to add anymore charcoal or wood for atleast 3-4 hours. Hopefully the chicken is done by then

ZRX all back together for the 2nd time this month, so now it looks just like it did a week ago except minus the fuel leak. Float bowl o-rings were like bakelite.
Used a mushroom carton from Costco to hold tools & hardware which fit nicely in the storage bin. Decided to leave it in there. May fabricate a spiffy aluminum version.

Flipped tank over to swap out the o-ring in the gas tap. Not looking bad for 21 years old.

Remade my mig cart with a old bed frame.
I'm not a gpod welder but it holds for my needs. Havent used this welder in a year or so. I usually just use my stick. it's easier for me for some reason. received_1163330430689958.jpeg
