Guys do any of you recognize this vise. It has 60 mm Jaws so I am sure its European but the dynamic jaw is at the back. Thought it was cool just don't know who made it.

I don’t recognize that vise, but as far as condition goes I’ll hazard a guess that a soak in Evaporust for a few days will get rid of all of that surface rust and free up the slide.
Can you get the screw out?
Are you considering buying it? How much?
Give it a good inspection before opening your wallet. There was probably a reason that somebody pitched that vise out into the cold and wet.

I’ve seen similar vises and quite a few of them have no ID markings.

I don't see that as being too far gone. It can be rescued by starting with soaking in Evaporust (like Shift advised) and working from there.
7 years ago, I had the same challenge with a Reed 204. Took 2 weeks of soaking it in kerosene, many applications of ATF/Acetone and some press time to get it apart. After that, it was another restoration with a good experience. The hardest part will be busting the slide loose from the body.

Edit: Looks like a what’s left of a Craftsman crown logo on the side of that vise.

Take a look back at Post #79762 when I was seeking info on this same listing. I went and took a look at it, but back when it was advertised as an 8" vise for $120. Yes, it is a 4" Craftsman and is exactly the vise shown in Post #79762, 3rd picture. Lightly built, likely a Columbian, definitely not worth $120 (maybe $40?). Despite its appearance, it was actually in pretty good shape, but I didn't look at it too closely once I saw what it was.

Depends on how stuck it really is.
The last vise I picked up that looked that rusty was $40

Rust is easier to deal with than many other problems. (See my “after” picture)

I'm a new member and posted about this vise in a new thread before I found this one. I just picked up a Reed No 34 that's in fantastic condition for it's ~100 year age. Does anyone have experience with this one or have a guess on its value? I'm certainly not going to sell it, I'm just curious and think I might have something special on my hands.

Looks like you have a good vise. Many of those have broken base handles. I see that it had pipe jaws at one time. Easy to make if you have access to a milling machine.

Looks like there is a bolt that was drilled through the static jaw to likely retain the nut, perhaps the dovetail has been cracked out? Handle is missing both ends, pipe jaws missing. 'Fantastic condition'. You're one of those, 'runs great, but won't start' people, aren't you?

Well, whatever it is, this one has to go...
I guess I am just going to stick with more Wiltons moving forward...

take the swivel base off, and look in the center on the top side. It will be marked 4-something.

It looks to me like someone put a 4.5" base on a 4" swivel vise. the very slight difference in size and tooth alignment will cause this exact thing to happen.

Also, what year is the date stamp on it? yours has the extremely long lock down handle which was only used in the first two years of production, from the best I can tell.

I've had over 130 reeds and never seen this issue on ones with original parts. I have seen this when bases are swapped....

Mac, a lot of times sellers will transpose the jaw opening for the jaw width.---For instance, one that opens 7'', they will say has 7'' jaws.---Sometimes this comes from just not knowing the differance, and sometimes it's a worm on a hook.---You drive 100 miles to see a 8'' vise just find out it's nothing of the sort but since you've driven so far, you decide not to let the trip be for nothing.---Most of the time, the people that pull this kind of stunt will be very scant with the pics and those will be blurry at best.

I do like your handle.---I don't know another person on earth with that name.

So, I saw a 7" Heuer DRP vise (I live in the wrong part of germany for Heuers, so any Heuer "close by" peaks my interest) which made my all itchy to get it. Not that I plan on keeping any of them

Missing the bolt + locknut and all bearing balls. Being unable to remove the lead screw w/o applying a lot of force I bet the washer is all gone, too. Gonna do that some other day. (All parts are non metric, so now I ordered parts for like 30% of the vise's price. This 5/8" 9/32" stuff is so expensive over here.)

Figured I could add in a vise or two to pay for the 25 € gas money (missed a tiny small one but got that later via parcel). The justification vises are a 6" Peddinghaus 1st gen Record (missing dust wipers), which opens a bit over 8". Still a good vise today, even if modern drop forged vises aren't much different. Got it for real cheap for a coworker.

And a Leinen Junior 6". Now this is not a vintage vise (a vintage Leinen 150 mm weights 13 kg more), you can still buy these 6" precision(!) vises new, even in the US, but they are not cheap. Not cheap used, either. This one was cheap. Very. Probably a little cleanup and off it goes.

Then the next day I see this 1st gen M&W HS3 ~5" (DRGM stamped) for next to nothing. Obviously missing the steel bars to hold the dynamic jaw in, which can easily be home made. So I grab it. Turns out years of use w/o said bars bent the lead screw near the end, which made getting the dynamic jaw out real heard near the end. I either "restore" this ancient baby myself or find an interested party in the EU (because shipping inside the EU is ridiculously cheap, just shipped a 30kg vise for 23€ )

That vise came out of a scrap heap. The base was the rustiest piece.
That worn out and broken shaft collar was probably why it was tossed out. There was more than one full turn of free play.
McMaster-Carr had new 1.125 inch collars in stock and I got one in the mail the next day.
KMScott made new swivel hold downs. I show a pic of the old one next to the KMS customs. Thanks Kevin!

We all know how much time and effort is involved in cleaning, repairing, and refinishing an old vise. To many people who use vises in the normal course of their work, once something is “worn out” they toss it and get a new one. A guy just tells his boss that the vise is shot and we need a new one.
I’m just glad I got it before it suffered a fiery death.

Parkinson must be really old or a machine vice or one of their wire rope eye tying ones to be that heavy.
The biggest type F perfect vice, the 9a on a swivel is only ~170lb.
Will be a rarity for sure.

It`s a Rapid vise. Apparently made in Poland if it`s the same company.

I picked up this great little handmade machinist vise at an antique store today for $15. The bottom is punched “Made by Frank Kistner 1943”. The jaws are about 2 1/4” wide.

Even though it is pretty cool as is, I am going to try to really get it cleaned and polished up nice.

I still don’t have it in my hands, but here’s the pics I have of the giant Parkinsons vise (it’s in various stages of wire-wheeling in these pics). It’s taken almost 8 months just to get it to the states. It’s here now, and has just one more crate trip to get to me.

8 3/8” wide jaws, a hair under 270lbs (the chain weighs a few lbs in the pic below). What’s cool is that it’s a quick release. Looking forward to getting it in my hands, finally.
