Guys do any of you recognize this vise. It has 60 mm Jaws so I am sure its European but the dynamic jaw is at the back. Thought it was cool just don't know who made it.
Thanks for looking!

Hi all,
I'm a new member and posted about this vise in a new thread before I found this one. I just picked up a Reed No 34 that's in fantastic condition for it's ~100 year age. Does anyone have experience with this one or have a guess on its value? I'm certainly not going to sell it, I'm just curious and think I might have something special on my hands.
Thanks!

. 'Fantastic condition'. You're one of those, 'runs great, but won't start' people, aren't you?![]()
Well, whatever it is, this one has to go...
I guess I am just going to stick with more Wiltons moving forward...
Take a look back at Post #79762 when I was seeking info on this same listing. I went and took a look at it, but back when it was advertised as an 8" vise for $120. Yes, it is a 4" Craftsman and is exactly the vise shown in Post #79762, 3rd picture. Lightly built, likely a Columbian, definitely not worth $120 (maybe $40?). Despite its appearance, it was actually in pretty good shape, but I didn't look at it too closely once I saw what it was.
don't hold back next time. LMAO
his view on condition, is most peoples that aren't vise guys, unfortunately.
Well, small world. In the ad it sounds like he has an 8" Record or equivalent for sale for $120. If this is the one he is talking about he is out to lunch. It would be worth the trip for $40 since it would be a neat low level simmering type of pandemic project, but if he's asking over a hundred for this he can let it rot. Too bad, I'm kind of fond of these old Craftsman vises.
8astel - nice pick ups! I like the Euro vises. I’ll be posting a picture of an 8” , 270lb Parkinson’s vise soon. Haven’t seen another one.

Excellent save on the Reed Shift.---It's funny how two people can look at the same vise or any old tools for that matter, and one can only see scrapyard and the other sees this hidden gem, a diamond in the rough.---Like Michelangelo staring at a big piece of granite and what he see's is a beautiful naked lady.
Nice save, Shift! Did they date the Columbian made Reeds?

Anybody recognize this vise with the distinctive jaw shape?

I know this question has probably been asked but who do you guys recommend for shipping a vise from Canada to the US?
Has anyone done this lately?
Fastenal is not an option. I asked.
160 pounds net weight. It will be properly strapped to a pallet. Forklift available at my end.
TIA
