We did some wire pulling at work for some more SmartBow antennas on a dairy that already has a system and added onto a barn. Notice the fancy setup with the broken post hole digger holding the spool and the baler twine pull string. Yup. We are fancy
50021815508_827bde80e2_z.jpg

We updated the server and rack on that farm a while back and the new server was quite a bit louder than the old one so we installed a homebrew cooling solution to help it breath.
50021815498_a91406de86_z.jpg

Angle grinder and cutoff wheel to make a hole and a couple SS self tappers to hold it it. Within 15 minutes it had dropped almost 15F inside. I'd say that's a win !!!
50022617217_28815b01d0_z.jpg

The meadow I posted a picture of Dad cutting was WAY too wet for our large square baler to go into so we had them rolled up into rounds by the guy that does my corn straw.
50022355466_142210341e_z.jpg

I ended up hauling them out two at a time with the tractor and loader as it was too wet to load more than a couple on a trailer and this was just as fast at that point.
50022355431_1bdd8921e7_z.jpg

Once the bales were home and it cooled off a little outside we tore more tin off one of the hoop sheds. Eventually it'll all be gone !!!
50021815473_3a81c9d7f9_z.jpg

Half of a row on half the shed. Not bad for an hour :)
50022355496_65e31676d1_z.jpg

Mom sent me a few pictures yesterday of her and Dad putting the new auger back in the combine. It looks quite shiny !!!
50022620672_73d03e760e_b.jpg

Back in and almost ready for the drive chain.
50022620717_c9757e3826_b.jpg

And then on the way home my work van decided to throw all it's antifreeze on the ground through a giant crack in the radiator so I get to drive the old Chevy fleet truck for the foreseeable future. It's okay though because it's a service body dully Dirtymax and it's been tuned up a bit as it's the rig we use to pull skid loaders and man lifts around with :bounce:

At least it was only coolant...One of mine decided to puke the 3/4 clutches on the highway with the big gooseneck on the back....

Yikes. That'll make a guy grumpy !!! I noticed it running on the ground literally across the road from where I have it serviced when things happen. For it to decide to puke it's liquids out on the road it couldn't have done it in a better place !!!

Oh look a pair of combine tires !!!
50024386351_c6153c0311_z.jpg

One dual removed !!!
50023841773_3421f9b1c6_z.jpg

The inside tire was flat and we didn't know why. It was fine one day and flat the next. Strange .....
50023841838_a872b44d0b_z.jpg

Oh look !!! AN INTRUDER :willy_nil
50024646662_0bfc08044c_z.jpg

WTF is it ?!?!?!?!?
50024386291_f74c8facf2_z.jpg

Looks like a piece of soybean straw. Well that's a first !!!
50024386386_d8495886f4_z.jpg

We decided the combine tire would get a tube and moved on to the next item on the list. Time for a little HEAT and BEAT !!!

Nothing like a 6' bar to add that little extra oomph to get that rusty frozen 3pt top link moving :bounce:
50024646622_a9ab635d64_z.jpg

It worked !!! Reassembly will include A LOT of silver anti-seize to prevent this from happening again.

Wildly shifting gears !!! I set up the parents with a nice new Unifi system at their house. They had a TP-Link wireless G router from 1982 and it all needed a update !!!

Gosh I love this stuff when the lights are out :bounce:
50024386316_780a946768_z.jpg

To finish the day out we took more time off a building. The ol' hoop shed is slowly but surely coming down

Has the combine been out bouncing through the fields some now with the repaired hub mount?

Not yet. First use will be August when we combine the oats. I'm quite sure the axle isn't going to be the weak point anymore but we shall see.

We need to find a nice 6 or 7 belt pickup head for the combine so we can combine the oats. The old head we have doesn't have the tracker drive PTO shaft and won't work nicely with the new combine. Yesterday we purchased a Case IH 8210 pull type swather in Buffalo, ND so we can at least cut the oats even if we can't combine it yet :lol_hitti

How are the shed curved members made up? Method?
Looks like they are three 1x6 or 1x8's nailed together and then cut into a hoop shape.

I was able to gather another few scraps off waterbed rolls and I've almost got enough to fill out the entire area under the fans.

May as well try a round bale in the steer barn. They seem to like them :bounce:

Funny you are planning to be pulling the camper next weekend. Me and the family are going camping next weekend also but just pulling a little ol' popup camper of mine.

Busy Busy Busy Busy Busy Busy !!! No way you'll catch us sitting around when there is something to do outside !!

I think if I actually hooked that camper to the ol' minivan that would be the last thing it ever pulled :lol_hitti

However, that very minivan has logged thousands of miles pulling a popup back in the day when it was newer. Pulled it like a champ too !!

the 2006 Toyota sienna did some pulling duty before I got my 2012 F250. It did great with no issues really. Only trouble I had was trying to find a place for the bikes when the girls wanted to take their bikes with them!

Congrats on the new build finally getting started. I really like those wet-set pole anchors! Makes a lot more sense to hold up a building with them than sticking a bunch of wood posts in the dirt. I saw them first on some "RR Buildings" youtube vids. Hope yours turns out as nice as the ones they build!

Blah Blah Blah Fireball. That's usually how that goes :bounce:

Hopefully the wind blows towards the fertilizer shed
Surprisingly it stinks very little. This is the came crew that built the Poo Palace so they knew what they were getting into

Just the other day I saw a early 90's Woody Grand Caravan pulling a skid loader trailer with a Case 1845C on it. I'm thinking that was a LITTLE BIT much for that poor minivan !!!

Just let us know when the new shop-warming party is, I'll bring beer.

Definitely stoked to see this happening!
Depends on what you consider "done". I've drank a few beers on the dirt pad already imagining what it would be like to do it when the shop was up and I wasn't swatting mosquitoes :eyecrazy:

isn't it tab A into slot A?
Not when you drink Fireball while assembling things. Then anything goes !!!

I kept sending links to his YouTube channel to my builder guy until he said "FINE I'LL GIVE IT A SHOT!!!". We shall see what he thinks of it when I talk to him tomorrow morning :)

Awesome! If they build as fast as RR Buildings, should be done by the end of next week lol.
I asked how long they thought it'd take and he said they hoped to have the tin on and everything ready for concrete inside by mid next week if the weather cooperates. We've had a camping trip planned for this coming weekend since this time last year so it seems I'll get to take a few days off next week to dig in the water lines, power lines, data tubes and do all the underground electrical and plumbing work inside the shop. I can't think of a better way to use a couple vacation days :bounce:

That is so cool, I'm very happy for you.
I'm thinking about pulling up a chair with some popcorn, but in todays day and age I think I would rather have beer or whiskey and more than one at that.

I'm quite excited as well !! Popcorn, beer and whiskey are all welcome here !!! I can even supply the chair

What did they use to get all those anchors lined up and level?
He said they lasered them all to get them in the right spot. They are literally in perfectly straight lines. I didn't expect anything less but it sure seems like it'd have been a challenge to do it as well as they did !!!

I'll post some pictures today hopefully but the entire structure is standing already. Rafters are up, perlings are on and the doors and windows are framed in already. They work quite fast !!

Im surprised to see a skidsteer with a boom on it. Usually those crews run telehandlers. Building structure looks good!

skid load can run the post hole digger and the boom. do they make third functions with enough GPM on telehandlers?

*whistle* looking good
:)

He has a telehandler and when I asked him where it was he said "doing the math the skiddy and boom should reach the top so we'll see." After it was up I asked how it worked and he said "The skiddy was on it's tippy toes but it got them up there just fine !!"

Geeeez, they are not kidding around, are they? Great progress.

This is the same crew that built the complete 60x152 stacking slab wood structure in 2.5 days. They move right along !!!

I think a big telehandler with a post hole digger on it would be kind of clumsey. They said they could comfortably set a 60' rafter with the skiddy so no need for the telehandler on this job until time for steel when they'll need it for another basket lift. Maybe.

Very good, what are the big door sizes?
26x16 and 16x12.

Here is a better pic of the current shop state. They'll be back I think he said Tuesday to put the steel on .... all of it :wtf:
50046608196_018aae559e_z.jpg

Yesterday Pops and I went into North Dakota and pulled this nice Case IH 8210 swather home. We drove 245 miles at 35mph with it on the way home with zero issues. We changed the tires out for a pair of our own that had truck tires as well as servicing both wheel bearings before getting on the road. The front wheel bearing had water in it and was pretty rusty so good thing we decided to do that before leaving the guys yard !!

35 mph, LOL run out of things to talk about LOL
I took the day off from work and brought my laptop along in case I was needed remotely and good thing I did !! I think I spend 5ish hours doing stuff logged on to machines remotely supporting two different install crews on the way out there and back. Kind of like a paid day off I guess :rocker:

The main thing we talked about was how neat it'd be if we got home incident free, which we did so that was fantastic !!!

The builder guys showed up Friday morning again to do a few things. Finishing the perlings on the roof/sidewalls as well as putting the lean on were the primary things. It's ready for steel now !!
50051392782_48f280f081_z.jpg

Dad and I thought we'd get a jump on digging the water, power and data lines in from the pump house. We needed to find the buried conduit that supplies power to the pump house first.
50051392817_6ce5e17624_z.jpg

By noon they had the lean on and it was all ready for steel. This has been a total of 2.5 days with 4 guys to get it to this point so far !! These guys move right along !!!
50050570453_36c094030e_z.jpg

After some cautious digging we found the conduit and I'm gonna have a fair bit of hand digging to get into the pump house. Oh well. The thought here is to put two 4" non-perf drain tile lines from the shop into the pump house to pull all the different lines through. I think it's the best option as I'm not sure what will be needed yet but want expandable options.
50051142526_8a7b8d8f43_z.jpg

Oh sad day. Kind of, more of a happy day I guess. I bought a Farmall M (the one in my avatar) quite some time ago and used it A LOT to mix feed. I sold it on Friday to a very nice guy and his son to use on their food plot up north. They were wanting an older tractor that wasn't real pretty that they could leave outside without feeling bad. This was it for sure !! I was never going to stick the huge $$$$$ it needed to restore it and it didn't really have a place on the farm anymore so down the road it went.
50051142606_aa99d77390_z.jpg

We have an annual camping trip planned to the same spot in the same sites each year so we can at least get away for one weekend a year. Awesome weather to go camping but SOOOOO much to do at home .... I guess that's why we plan it and stick to it. There's always something going on so we just need to leave I guess.
50051392852_ed49157e1f_z.jpg

And right now this is my view. Just fantastic :rocker:

Dad bought a used Super M, the tractor was born the same year as I and we spent a lot of time together. Dad custom corn shelled with our "big tractor" an international 706 LOL and from the time I was 12, I did most of the 160 acres he cash rented. When the farm was rented out from under him, we moved to town, and he took the Super M with us. Directions, yeah just look for the red tractor in the driveway LOL I was a freshman in college then. 14 years go by and I walk into a business and there is a picture of a M on the wall. I'm looking at it, while waiting my turn and a guy walks up behind me and starts out saying wish I could find a good tractor like that for my collection. Turns out he owns the business and has 10 tractors in back. Told him I know where a Super M is but I don't know if he'll turn it loose. He says, got time? We can talk about it while I show you what I have. Quick stop turned into 2 hours LOL
Ended up, he bought it from Dad with a written bill of sale that if he ever sold it, I had first right of refusal. Business man now has 30+ restored tractors and I stop and see him and "my tractor" every two or three years. Business man is still mad at me because we junked out the 2ME corn picker. Farmall only made that model for 2 years and he has never seen one at all the collector shows he attends. Unique thing about the 2ME, the front snout on the picker was mounted on the front wheels and the snout turned with the wheels. So very easy to identify. They has special hubs that extended through dust caps on the wheel and the snout snapped onto those hubs. Didn't work as good in practice as in theory, especially in less than ideal conditions because if wet ground, the mud would build up inside snout and eventually pop the snout off the hub and if you didn't stop quickly, you drove it into the ground and destroyed it.

Thought you might enjoy a little history, if I'm annoying you, let me know and I'll knock it off :) And if you come across a 2ME I know a guy that would part with a left nut LOL

The conversation about the picker started with a phone call from business man, I'm taking "your" tractor to fairs and shows and everyone is asking me about the front hubs, what's with that, no one knew. Well, my Dad ran those hubs year round, figuring if he took them off, he would forget where he put them and grease isn't that expensive LOL farm logic LOL
