I wish it was already at my place, Sunday is going to be a long day, will be leaving around 4 AM.
Had a long talk with a good friend tonight, I think I’m order to avoid all the DOT BS, I think I am going to just make a really big RV. Not sure exactly what or how yet, but OMO would be the best choice due to most states having overall length limits that are shorter than commercial truck and trailer combinations. I have two major hurdles/issues, one is that I still want a knuckle boom or some sort of crane (would have to be mounted to trailer), two is if I use OMO, the RV portion will have to be separated from the cab due to the way the cab lifts for engine access, that makes the overall length longer, but, I think I can make it work. The crappy part is that I am not sure I will be able to get more than one truck/burb at a time with the knuckle boom mounted to the trailer. So I will need to take measurements, but each state seems to be different with overall length and trailer lengths, might have to say no go in the worst states, but it looks like I will have to confirm with each state, I am seeing different rules listed for the same state on some of the RV websites. The worst I saw and it was bad, was 53’ overall length with a 28’ trailer length, that would make things really tough. Most states are 65’ overall length with 45’ trailer length, that is much more realistic.
