Not going to lie, I feel beaten, need to bring a few more things down, but I may have to shift and do something else, (like take a nap).

I am into the “where the fack do I put this?” stage, been taking measurements and some stuff fits nicely, other stuff not so much. I had envisioned laying things out be way, but it is clear that idea is a no go. There are few outlets in the room and then there are two windows and an electric baseboard heater on one wall, the wall opposite the windows has a closet, counter, and washer/dryer. There is also a brick pad that was originally for a wood stove that never was installed, kind of screws with the floor a bit. I know I can make something work, just need some time.

I haven’t given up yet, need one more cabinet and a couple countertop pieces, then I should be close. Way more work than I wanted to do, but it is definitely cooler than it has been, so I think it will be worth it in the end. Also the AC in the new space is much cooler, so that will make things way nicer when I start setting the space up. I have been contemplating going to the SG and stealing my 8’ butcher block top to use here, but I don’t really want to do that, plus I think it would be more of an excuse to not finish things.

It's good to make progress. I always do better in a well set up office.

Looks like we will be moving into the house for at least a year, still trying to get the bathroom redone and the leaking roof fixed first. I would like to be in before snow, that would make things much easier. I started laying out a bit of the space, not sure if this will be the final layout, but it seems to fit fairly well. Once I get the last cabinet down, I will start leveling them up.

The real trouble is carrying heavy things down awkward stairs tends to tweak my knees, they are already on fire. Can’t wait until I get done, ice pack will feel pretty nice, already took some ibuprofen.

I miss the 1980s. Some of the 1980s. The floor is a nice vintage 1970s though.

And you don't have ducks, cows or pigs stenciled on the walls. I'd say that is a win.

You can paint over wallpaper, I've seen it done very nicely. Just needs a good primer so the pattern does not bleed through.

I have been assessing things and I had neglected two major concepts, one is that I am going to have to do both my office and Dad’s out of this space, and the other is that even if the office renovations are finished in a couple months, I won’t have time to move things back. This kind of screws my plans up a bit, I will need to bring two of the larger file cabinets down and in reality I will need the photocopier. That is going to be a two person job for sure, most likely get the forklift up here too. I think the office is going to be in the house all winter long, any plan to make it a shorter timeframe would just make for some serious issues.

Reflecting on things has just made my to do list twice as big as it was 15 minutes ago.

Is the house vacant? Can't you set your dad up with his own room? I gather he doesn't do "paperwork" anyway, so does he need to be where the files are?

Can the boom on Perk reach the stairs? to grab the larger file cabinets and the copier? maybe remove a railing to open up a space to grab it?

Perk would be too cumbersome, most likely end up with a splattered copier. The house is vacant, but I am renting it, Dad doesn’t need any space, but the business does, I am in charge of that aspect anyways, it just means I need more space for the important files.

Got most of the stuff down, still have some more books and paperwork, but I need to setup file cabinets in the new space before I move anything else. Long day.

Not too bad yet, going to start the pain again. I have to pick up a small paint spray booth today, I bought it last fall, but it wasn’t ready to be removed. Then the guy was away for the winter, now he has sold his place and needs it out. I think there are some extra panels, but my intent was just to have it be a 4 by 8 area that can be used for painting when needed, but I was thinking it may be good for other things too.

I spoke way too soon, my knees hurt, my wrist that got smacked the other day is pretty sore too, on a good note, my back isn’t too bad.

I am over at the SG unloading the trailer, my Cousin gave me a 275 gallon oil tank that is almost new, not sure what I am going to do with it, but I have a couple ideas.

Headed out shortly to get the spray booth, he had a couple other cool things that I may end up taking too. You know me, if it is cool, I probably want it.

Ended up being close to a friends place and stopped in there, spent a couple hours talking about his new shouse that he is building. We were discussing 3 phase power, as he hasn’t run anything yet, turns out his lot has a pole across from it and there is 3 phase on one side and single phase on the other, couldn’t be any luckier.

I just unloaded the spray booth and the cool fuel tank, going to get “lunch” now, then try and pick up Clark over at the tower site.

Not much of a spray booth, but it should work for what I need.

Since I was given earlier approval to have cool chairs, I found another one of the aluminum style office chairs, bought it and a small blue glass bottle for $20.

Nice, very nice. $20 is very nice too. Original vinyl upholstery and the plastic arm covers are intact. As I understand it, that upholstery is hard to come by anymore.

The manufacture date code should be imprinted into the bar on the front underside of the seat. Just turn the chair over and you will see it along the rim.

Here is one of mine, bad lighting as it looks to be a steel chair, but it really is aluminum. This one is in my entryway, to sit at to put on shoes and toss jackets onto.

The fuel tank is great. It does scream "steam punk" tool box. Or maybe a steam punk coffee table or garden/patio "bench".

I hooked up the trailer to Perk and headed out to the tower, went 15 miles over the highway, over bumpy roads, no problem, I about $hit myself when I saw what I hadn’t done.



Thankfully the trailer has good tongue weight. I showed my brother and he said he did it once with a tractor on the trailer. That won’t happen again, I can promise you that.

Clark is all loaded up, watering the plants and giving Bev a bit of a run while I am here. Might take one more look at things inside my Grandparents house before I leave. Also wanted to get some grape plant cuttings and try and get them to sprout. He loved those grapes.

I think your picture of the chair was from the lunchroom at the hill. Do you mean you have two already and this one makes three? These chairs are light weight, yet sturdy and pretty comfortable too.

Yeah, the "check the trailer" walk around was always a good thing. I once forgot to close the horse trailer dressing room door. Lucky nothing fell out and shortly into the trip the driver saw it swing open on a turn.

Saving a cutting from a favorite plant or tree is a very special way to remember someone. My mother had Irises that she had moved rhizomes/bulbs from many different houses. She claimed they went back to the house she grew up in.

Remember, some grapes are propagated from graphed stock, so you have to get a cutting from higher up the plant for fruit and then it might not root well because it needs the root stock graft to grow nice roots. But if these are so old, they may not be grafted at all. You just need to try. Or try digging up a rooted plant?

How big is the spray booth?

When are you going to get to that? What are you going to paint in that? Where is that going? I will leave out the how and who for now.

Paint booth is going at SG, probably enough to make an 8’ by 8’ booth, my plan is only for a small setup, not for doing cars, but for parts and powder coating.

Clark made it up the hill, actually used second gear, definitely need to get temp sensor hooked up so I have a gauge, probably the warmest I have ever had it. I could still put my hand on the radiator hose, so not too bad, but way more than running around the flat area at the SG.



I did break a couple of deck boards on the trailer, so I am going to have to do something for a repair. I may have some wood that will work, just need to locate it.

I am all set to get the pallet racking tomorrow, probably won’t be able to touch it until next weekend, but at least it will be ready to go.

I have done that before. It was one of those days where I got distracted while hooking up the trailer. I took a car to the scrap yard, unloaded, and left before it really started banging and I had to pull over and check. Not a good feeling.

No mater what I try to do, Guido is stuck as a name for the hyster. It still smokes, but Guido fits better. So, Guido (the forklift formerly known as Smokey, but originally dubbed Guido) has the brake kind of stuck, has a decent leak and needs some attention. It looks like it has a small GM 4 cylinder engine, might be a 1.8 liter, but haven’t figured that out yet. I did manage to drive Guido inside the garage, so that is good.

I have to get some office paperwork done this afternoon, then tomorrow I am running up north to get some metal shelving, worst part is that I owned identical stuff, but sold it a while back. I figured I would never need it, boy was I wrong. That is how hoarding gets exacerbated, you start to think, “see, never should have sold that”. Anyways, between the shelving and the pallet rack, I should be able to get a bunch of storage space back.
