I know some of you are experts and like the "name that vise" challenge. Here looks like an old one I found in the corner of a photo of other things. Local sale. Seller holding for me until he is available.
Any idea what it is?...... Another early Parker?

This adv. points to it being in the 761 line of Stanley vises, if not user modified.
Can be clamped, screwed or bolted to a bench.

The 760s line is definitely the best of the bunch on that flyer. I haven't seen an old Stanley vise before. Who was the manufacturer? Is it worth buying?

Definitely worth buying at the right price. Check Eprey Solds for some guidance. (and keeping in mind they are not selling in Eprey,,,)
They made many models and sizes some with removeable jaws, some cast in.
Stanley bought the P.J. Leavens Co. of Vineland, New Jersey in 1911, and introduced two new lines of vises named Stanley "Jersey" and Victor "Jersey" to make use of the familiar Leavens' "Jersey" vise name. When Stanley made their big internal merger and introduced the Sweetheart logo in 1919, they also dropped the "Jersey" name and began casting the Stanely name in the side of their vises. A few years later they also added the model number to the side of the vise. By 1929 they started to pare down the number of vises they offered, and did the same in 1934, then again in 1939 (although they also introduced 3 new styles of vises in 1934 that were much cheaper to produce)

My dad has a Parker 975 1/2, came out of Norton Company in Worcester, that I grew up with and love that has been brazed in the exact same location. I have used it ever since I can remember and before I knew I wasn't supposed to I have put pipes on it to get it tighter and used it as a press and just generally abused it and it has never even come close to failing me (at least I THINK it hasn't!). Love that piece of steel

Me too, I am pretty partial to Reeds too, and I actually like Columbians, I have one that is a regular user. I don't like the Parker combis I see. I like the C series Reeds best for those

On Eprey I found 766 solds for $30 - $100; but mostly around $60.
The "little one" pictured is $10. There is a "larger vise" no picture, no idea what it is, selling for $15. I'll let you know what it is when I find out!!!
This whole Covid thing has given me a chance to work on my Stanley collection. It’s amazing how well crafted these little vises were back in the day.

In other vise news, an absurd Wilton "Baby" vise was recently listed. I just couldn't fathom the opening bid amount or the "Buy it Now" price. After reading the description, it seems to have a KMScott premium included.
Sorry KMScott, but if this vise sells at either of the listed prices, you may have to come out of retirement for a just a while more.
Wilton "Baby" Bullet Vice, 2", Excellent Condition. Condition is Used. It's hard to read but if you look closely the date code is 12 - 67.
Handle is straight. Operates smooth as silk. Every screw head is in good shape. Every screw has been removed and then greased before reassembly. Paint is a hammered finish, looks awesome! Original jaws are smooth and in perfect condition. Screw cover is in perfect condition. It comes with two extra sets of heat treated jaws made by Kevin Scott of Mountain Products (I'm sure some of you know of him and the quality of his work). One of the extra sets of jaws is smooth and the other has teeth. Included for mounting of the extra jaws are brand new properly sized screws to fit the jaws and the vise.

The baby bullet market is out of control. People are listing them for crazy high prices and the just sit there. Nobody in their right mind is going to pay twice the price for a baby bullet.

I saw this today at an estate sale. It has a corner chipped out of the anvil and you can see a crack in the upper right corner of the picture. I believe the handle has been replaced with one about 8" long. It does have the pipe jaws. I passed but was wondering if anyone can date it. I have been unable to find any real info on the net about the 144-A. The vise spreadsheet has it listed, but of course, no date info.

just got into blacksmithing a couple months ago and finally found a post vise for a great deal today. Looks to be in pretty nice shape, not missing any parts by the looks of it. She has 4" jaws and right now is mounted to a really heavy base (not sure what the pedestal is/was?) I'm gonna clean her up a bunch and then use her pretty soon. Gonna have a much easier time trying to do twists now

I don’t see a whole lot of old boat anchors but of the ones I’ve seen, that vice is rustier than any.

Funny how it goes, just showed Mary how to make the baby jaws today along with the 600 and 800 jaws. Small to big. She is slowly getting a grip on jaw building and just finish grinding in the first build lot of jaws. I have no idea when the new owners are going to turn on the websites. I gave up asking. Driven over 3000 miles training the new Machinist, shop is 100 miles round trip. Never knew jaw building was this hard. That Baby and Power Arm is to high.
