Pick this up at a swap meet years ago.
Been using it as a secondary box at my old job for about 20 years.

@Smokeshow69 Hey thanks! It’s funny you of all members replied because I was just going to send you this link. It’s Huot made in the same style you’re looking for. Wonder if they made them for Craftsman...

Similar drawer layout but the vendor who made craftsman heritage era boxes was AMD, who later became remline.

Does anybody know that the Crowntop logo is actually a Tire tread logo, I saw it in a print ad a long time ago, but I can't locate it currently.

Here are all the Craftsman crowntop tool boxes I have. I most of the Craftsman Family together for this picture and plan to start a thread for all my future projects in one place instead of having separate threads.

I needed a creative way to hold the battery in the trunk of my latest build, this idea came to me late one night. The bottom has been removed, the cables enter from the rear in a separate panel, the box can be removed by removing the four screws on the sides and lifting it out. The battery is held secure by a custom mount and the interior of the box is rubber lined. The Box is vented, the battery is AGM.

That's a perfect fit, great idea!

This thread sure brings back a lot of memories of my fathers tools when I was growing up as a kid. I just might have a few of those crown tops somewhere in my toolbox like, the torch head, a ratchet set, and I thought I had a crowntop box somewhere...hmmmm...
Thanks for sharing everyone, cool stuff!

Bought this 1/4" -V- series set a couple months ago in the depths of Corona despair, and only getting around tonight to straightening if up a bit. It was just a jumble of stuff I presumed was not correct, as I had already noticed the ratchet was wrong. Having only a couple of bucks into it I planned on dumping the sockets into some general Craftsman bins I have going. I was delighted to see that everything else in fact was there, and I did have a -v- ratchet in perfect order in "back stock", to match the minty goodness of the rest of the set. Only problem is the typical broken off latch. I'll have to keep my eye out on a better case. The 1/4" Spinner Handle, marked with a circle V (I'll assume is really a =V= era predating this set as it doesn't allow the case to close height wise. Still a nice bonus to go along with.

I found a similar set last August right down to the box with the broken latch.
-Don

Notice the subtle difference on yours, Don. Yours has the raised "1/4 Socket Set" in the lower field, and mine is blank.

I also found a stray 5/32" socket in mine, that matches the other perfectly, but there was no molded home for it. I'll suppose for now that the PO purchased it loose at the time the set was new. I noticed that your extension is a little longer than mine too.

I found this empty 1/2” drive Permanex box on Monday. I assume that it would have come with -V- tools rather than =V=?

Every set I've seen coming out of those boxes is the -V-.

I was of the mind that =V= sets were offered in Metal boxes.

Rustoleum Hammered light blue that never “hammered”. I was bummed at first but it grew on me. Now I did it. Besides, it’s just a shop vise. It won’t look like this for long.

Made some progress on my 8 drawer crown top roller. Got it broke down and started to clean the cabinet and drawers, this paint was super dirty and looked a greenish tint because it was so dirty. Now to wax and remove the overspray and get the surface rust under control

Among the Craftsman tools we found at a Carson City, NV estate sale today was this 3/8” drive Crown inch lb beam torque wrench.

I guess should've mentioned that i never seen 1 with a jointer like that.
Thanks.

I saw that but I inspected the photos closer and it doesn’t have a jointer as far as I can tell? I can’t see any of the gears or other things needed to spin the blade. I have seen table saw/ jointer combos but not with the jointer on the front of the saw.

I haven't seen it in person but it appears the jointer is in the top. The seller states it comes with a jointer. Maybe you use the saw fence as the jointer fence. Isn't that the chip chute hanging out? I posted it up to hoping get knowledgeable info about what is shown. I ain't seen 1 like it. I believe photo will enlarge if u double clik it. I'm not sure for non member of postimage but it does for me.
thanks.

2 motors?? Or lift and disconnect, slide over reconnect??
There isn't a vintage CM tablesaw thread.

Maybe the belt off the pulley? Is there another pulley on the other side of the motor to drive the saw blade?

I am a *****, there is a jointer in the top. You can see it on the right side of the saw. That is a factory option but not super common.

1960. Interesting set up. I'd ask the seller if he's got the jointer fence laying around anywhere. More pics if you get it please??

How can i make the ad larger?? still can't read it. sorry.
